Moccasin Wallow Golf Club
About
Moccasin Wallow Golf Club (previously known as Imperial Lakewoods Golf Club) is located at the intersection of I-75 and I-275 on exit 45 in Palmetto, less than a 30-minute drive from Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota. The course was designed by Ted McAnlis around 200 beautiful wooded acres with 16 lakes. The course's signature hole, No.18 (550 yard, par 5 dog leg around Imperial Lake), is chosen year after year by local golfers as the best par 5 in southwest Florida

Getting better
Course is coming along nicely. Most greens were good and fairways were in solid shape. We really like playing here.
Switch nines
GPS is calling Imperial. Front is now back nine. Very slow that day. Greens a little fuzzy and slow. Had a good time .
Disappointing round
Based on recent reviews we expected better. The fairways were extremely thin and hard, difficult to get a club under the ball. The layout was boring, except for the fun 9th hole. Greens were slow, and overseeded. The staff was nice, looks like they have a nice pub which we did not use, clean bathrooms on the course. Pace of play was pretty good, under 4 hours with two couples playing ahead of us. Drove past the entrance the first time since there is only one little sign on Moccasin Hollow Road. Would not play again.
Fun DayI
The Course has several challenging holes that can be difficult for first time players & still had some wet spots from earlier rain, but overall my wife & I really enjoyed the course. Pace of play was excellent & greens were in good condition.
Diamond in the ruff
The course needs time to come back to its former self. Fairways have to grow. In there very tight.
Food service is painfully slow
A good day
Course was a solid test in very windy conditions. Conditions not perfect but obvious that the course is addressing any issues. Bunkers were in great shape and greens rolled true.
MOC Reopened, first time to play since
Tee boxes were in good condition along with the fairways. However, the greens still need work.
We enjoyed the course . Just enough difficulty . It is a pretty course with all the water.
Good Atmosphere
My favorite thing about this course is the oace of play. New Superintendent seems to be doing a better job. Enjoyed my round as always at the Moc. I always look forward to coming back on my next business trip.
Pretty Course
We enjoyed the course. Good layout. Quite a bit of water on the course. Not too difficult.
Nice layout
This course has a nice layout but the rain received this year has taken a big toll on the greens and the ability to be maintained
Great Layout
I loved playing this course, it is a very challenging layout with the 9th hole which is one of the prettiest holes I’ve seen in Florida and difficult too. The staff was friendly and courteous. The cafeteria was warm and inviting and had a great array of pub style food and sandwiches. Enjoyed my experience here greatly. Will be back and highly recommend playing here!
Tournament Success
Just finished up another successful tournament at Moccasin Wallow Golf Club. This is now the 4th event we've run at the facility and it gets better every time. We have some of the best players in the country play the West Florida Golf Tour and they continually register for events at the Moc because of the layout, conditions and friendless of the staff. This place has come a long way from when they first reopened and it am excited to see where its going. A must play if you live in the area!
Mocasin
Condition of house couldn't have been worse. They should rip it up and start over.
1st Timer
The course is getting an update on everything. Overall great experience. The course was challenging pick your shot and go for it. I made my first hole in one on 17 par 3. So I will never forget The Moc. Met the owner and he was welcoming and sat and talked to us for a while. The bar was very nice.
Water, Water
!st. time playing this course. The water is everywhere and many of the fairways are very tight. Also apparently they have changed the hole pattern ,because my golf buddy gps would not read correctly, and that added to the difficulty. Most of the greens were in good shape but the 9th is very bad. It does appear they are putting a fair amount of effort into improving the course though.,lots of soft watery edges around the greens., almost no roll .I would play it again for the right price.
We wanted to give an update going into the winter season about what we have done and have planned moving forward. We have done our best to turn our cart paths into a much better riding surface with the asphalt milling machine creating a much smoother surface. We have been overseeding the tees as some have taken and we will continue to do more of them.
This past summer and into October the golf course had taken a record amount of rainfall. Our rainfall totals have exceeded over 110 inches of rain causing harm to the golf course greens. We have developed Pythium Root Rot in a few spots that we have been repairing over time and had been growing back in but the cold weather has put the growth to a halt. We have decided to overseed our greens starting on Monday December 3rd. The golf course will be open during this process and the grow-in process will take a couple of weeks to cut the greens back down. We did not want to overseed but we want to put out the best possible playing surfaces and overseeding will help us nurse the Bermuda grass back to health. This is definitely not something that was planned but this will be a much better putting surface for the entire winter season. The next couple of weeks the greens will be a little slower as the grass grows in to get us to a nice smooth surface. If you have any questions please contact the golf shop or reply via email.
Just wanted to let you know the email sent out last week. Thank you
Let’s not take this review seriously as this person played in a twosome in the afternoon on a hot deal. For pace of play to be poor There were 4 people on the golf course after 1230. The clubhouse is brand new interior with probably the best sports bar and food. The tees and fairways are in great shape. The greens are being overseeded but are in good shape as well. Please read other recent reviews from other golfers before taking this seriously.
