Legacy Golf Club
About
Honoring the wishes of Lela and Charles Hilton, Legacy Golf Club is named in honor of their beloved son "Chip." He started playing daily at age 9 with a genuine love and excitement for the sport. He was on the Bay High School golf team, apprenticing with golf pro-Kenny Lind and made golf his vocation. As a professional golf instructor, he taught his students invaluable life lessons, emphasizing that golf is not a game of perfection but a comeback. He also believed golf was more than just a game; it was full of essential life skills such as patience, perseverance, determination, and overcoming obstacles and setbacks.
The golf club, established in 1965, is a championship course with challenging greens designed to test golfers with even the sharpest short-game skills. The fairways are generously sized with lakes and white sand bunkers that fiercely guard the elevated greens. Players should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The golf course is challenging but fair and enjoyable, making it a good test of skill without inciting frustration. Its playability, enhanced with three sets of tees, has made it one of Florida's most popular tracks. Legacy Golf Club also boasts extensive practice facilities, including a lighted driving range, chipping green, expansive putting green, Executive Course, and Bar and Grille.

Poa annua Blues
Legacy was in brutal shape - particularly the Poa annua infested greens. The “best greens on the beach” were anything but. Covered in weeds, the greens were unputtable. I understand that the Poa has mutated and is immune to last year’s herbicides. Bad luck…but if you can’t cut the greens properly, then, you could at least cut the the greens fees!
Not a $90 plus coarse
Staff very nice, it’s a bit painful to spend $90 plus dollars and then putt on greens that are barely a $25 coarse value.
Not able to recommend this to anyone I like based on the greens alone!
Has potential but these greens need to be ripped out and redone.
Will never play here again.
The greens were an absolute nightmare—overrun with poa grass that made putting feel like a cruel game of chance with bumps and inconsistencies that turned even the shortest put into a test of patience. I’m not one to complain or write reviews but I’ve never wanted a refund as much as I do now. Save yourself the frustration and skip this one until they sort out their greens.
Location isn’t everything
It’s basically one of the only courses in Panama City Beach proper. They used to advertise best greens in the area. Forget about that. From what I saw they’ve always list them for them year. Every green is full of sprigs of grass throughout which made every putt feel like you were playing bumper pool. None of the holes are memorable.
Not worth the price
We played yesterday and the greens were in bad shape. Putting was a guessing game, as the ball would move and bounce all over due to growth.
Legacy Review
Descent layout however slow bumpy greens. One other issue, course does not drain water very well after a rainfall. It is in need of better drainage infrastructure.
Golf Now Hot Deals - Value here in the $60’s
Course is in decent shape, it is winter after all. Some greens , probably four, have crab grass growing and it does impact your putting. Otherwise, the greens are good. The course is a great value when you can find a Hot Deal in the 60 dollar range. Normally this course will range from the 80’s-110. It’s simply not worth that price if you live here. They don’t offer memberships or specials for residents which is too bad. It’s a good track, pretty open and we always have a good time.
Not worth the price!
I booked a hot deal on Golfnow for what seemed like a good price. We paid $70 each vs. the normal rate of $85+. Course had a decent layout and the pace was good (4 hours on Tuesday midday). I can't recommend the course due to the greens. Every green was bumpy due to clumps of different grasses. Putting is half the game and it was disappointing for the greens not to be in better condition, especially when you consider the cost to play. Some of the greens had other damage as well. Tee boxes were a mixed bag and most were just eaten up. Course needs a good maintenance program before I'll play there again.
We drove an over an hr to play this course with a prepaid teetime.
We prepaid our tee time and showed up for our beautiful sunny 1150 golf day, they closed because of 1" of rain overnight. We were never notified, golf now tried to reach them, no answer so we are out our money for 2 tee times. Everyone in the parking lot had the same thing happen. Very angry!
Over priced
First time at this course. Some of the holes were cart path only. Had we known this we would not have golfed it. Full price for a course that isn’t pristine is just wrong. I was not able to golf the entire course due to having to walk further then necessary.
Wet & Bumpy
Very wet from recent rain. Greens were bumpy with tufts of invasive grass that made putting almost impossible.
PO in the Greens
Pretty good course. They have a lot of po in the greens. Hard to make puts.
