Hard to Evaluate
Unfortunetly, it was very windy. The worst wind I've played in in 50 years of playing golf. It was hard to keep the ball still enough on some of the greens to actually hit it before it started rolling. It may be that the wind had kept them from watering or properly maintaining the course, but it was not in prime condition.
Had the wind not been howling my evaluation of the course would probably be more positive. However, the course is difficult to find,
A great day of golf!
Myself and a friend had a very good day golfing at Rancho Maria Golf Course. The front nine went very smoothly we both played very good. On hole 12 the wind began blowing and it blew until the end of the round. My guess is that's just the way it plays there because you're on the other side of a small hill. And that brought on its own challenges but all in all it was a great day.
Rancho Maria
Weather was horrible hut the course was really fun. Greens in very nice shape
Great course
Lots of fun!! Fairly forgivable off the tee with trees lining pretty much every fairway.. always a great time!! The course itself is well maintained making a great place to practice and compete!
The course was so well managed and maintained. Meantime, please advise me if I could get refund or switched to other day if the weather or other matters for me not play the day I reserved. Thanks, John
Best golf value on the Central Coast
Well maintained with immaculately conditioned greens that run true. Enough trees to make it interesting but not over done. Would like to see more real sand in the bunkers.
The course fairways and green are in great condition
Considering the current drought the course is in great shape compared to many in the area.
A pleasant experience
Enjoyed the round, even though we had a cart problem, which the pro shop quickly addressed.
Great shape with afternoon breeze
Fun challenging course with great views. Little gopher problems off course, but under control. Fairway nice and greens in good shape.
One complaint is they need to have flags of different color "red, white and blue" so you know where the pin placement is (front, middle or back)!
Rancho Santa Maria
Enjoy the openness with no homes surrounding the course. The course is older but well taken care.
Can be very windy in the afternoons!
Over all, I think this course is a good value for the money!
Great course, windy day
Course is in great shape but the wind was horrendous, was fun anyways and wind did it take away from the course. Would recommend as a nice place to play
Windy
With a very strong wind blowing, the course was difficult, but all in all, pretty well maintained. The greens are in excellent shape. The fairways need to be punched, but most public courses don't do that. The main negative of this interesting track is that many of the tee boxes are very bumpy, tilted, and undulating. They need be leveled. They should have been leveled when the course was built in 1965. A great value on Golfnow.com
Unpleasant Experience
I'm in SM once a month so I've played here a couple times. The first time I walked off after finishing hole 14 at 5 hours on a Tuesday. This time the Course Marshall was harassing my buddy and I when we finished the second hole (3 pars and a birdie) asking us to skip the next hole because there was a tournament that went off behind us. We respectfully declined as we weren't holding the group up by any means. We even put an open hole between us. But I guess the Marshall didn't appreciate our decline so he followed us closely the next few holes like we were on the clock. I talked to him about it but he said his job was to bother us. Great customer service. There are plenty of other much better courses in the area. I won't be back.
great course
This is my home course. The course it self is usually in great shape. pace of play can be slow at times, that staff is friendly (most of the time). The grill serves an awesome hot dog, however the club house use a major overhaul.
Nice Course - check if their is a tournament playing first!
Very nice course for the average golfer. Greens are challenging and overall the condition of the course was good. I paid for 18 holes on a Monday but only played 10. There happened to be a tournament that was ahead of me and it stacked the course. Took 3 hours for those 10 holes which was a bummer. The back 9 looked like fun but didn't get a chance to play it.
I'll definitely try this course again when I'm back in the are.
