About
Lost Key Golf Club is conveniently situated equidistant from the historic downtown area of Pensacola and the pristine white sand beaches of Orange Beach and the Gulf Shores. The Arnold Palmer-designed layout was Florida's first golf course to be certified as an Audubon International Silver Signature Sanctuary. It underwent a major renovation in 2006 that included the addition of 2,200 native trees, 13,000 wetland plantings, and the resurfacing of the tees, greens, fairways, and rough. The golf course now presents a formidable test for even the most seasoned golfers. The greens are large and undulating and the flat fairways are lined with trees. There are also doglegs fairways on six holes and sand bunkers on several others. Lost Key Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 13th hole, which requires a tee shot over water to a partial island green that rolls across dramatic elevation changes.

Great Greens
Never been to a course before that had such great greens, but so many problems with tees and fairways. Overall still a great course just a little odd.
A must play golf course
My overall experienced on this golf course were fantastic, except my GPS kept taking me to the old gate, which did not open upon entering, So I had to call the pro shop and re direct me to the new gate on the west side. So, make sure to go to the new gate. Hopefully your GPS take you on the right gate this time, the staff had been working on the google map.

Who decided the pin placements?
Several fairways and tee boxes have worsened over the past two weeks from fungus. The greens are sanded but still roll smooth. The pin placements were likes Sunday Major's tournament. They made for an interesting and unconventional day requiring a lot of creativity with putting lines and chipping strategy. However, I wouldn't call them fair for amateur play because if the ball wasn't on the low side of the hole the majority of pin placements were impossible to get near, even with lag putting; I'm talking about putting 15ft sideways on a 25ft putt just to try to reach the crest of mounds and then watching the ball turn 90° toward the hole where it would speed past the hole +/- 10ft for an uphill return putt. As I said, the placements made for an interesting round but it was to the point someone on the course was just having a good laugh when they cut the holes.

Best HOT DEAL value
My family visits Pensacola every year, and my dad and I drive 45 minutes to play the course each year. We are avid golfers and it is a well maintained, challenging course. The staff at every encounter was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend the course.

Needs a mow
I have played this course several times and usually find it in good condition. This time however it was not good at all. The bunkers were not right and the fairways looked like they had not been mowed in about a week. I will not be coming back anytime soon. It looked like the maintenance department quit about a week ago.

Course has gone down hill.
Greens in excellent condition. Fairways and tee boxes were burnt and bare in many areas, possibly due to lack of water or infestation. Was was advised in pro shop that we had plenty of time, no rush. We were at the course 30 to 40 minutes before tee time. STARTER was extremely rude, stated that our tee time was 9:56 and we need to be back at that time. There was no one behind us for at least 4-5 holes. Only plus was the cart person was extremely courteous, she appreciated our business. Tipped her well and we only drank water and Gatorade.
Played this course a year ago and had a totally different and rewarding experience. Well worth the cost! Today was Father's Day and spent $180 for my son and myself to play, NOT WORTH THE EXSPENSE!

Not a very fun course
The staff could not be nicer at Lost Key. And, the course was in really great shape. The layout of the course really just makes it not fun unless you are a sub 5 handicap or have an old guy swing (short and straight). Unfortunately, this course really just isn’t very fun. However, if you’re looking for a challenge, then by all means give it a whirl - just make sure to buy a yardage book.
I really wanted to like this course because it’s so close to Perdido. But, I will not be returning to pay $100 to get my butt kicked.

Challenging and fun
A tight layout with little room for error. Very narrow rough leads into extensive red penalty areas throughout the course. The greens roll smooth and are in perfect condition, albeit a little on the slow side. Bring extra balls; it's rightly earned the nickname Lost Balls.

Beach Golf
We played this course on Friday evening. Tee off about 5pm and had the course to ourselves. Course is very tight but not long and most good golfers could get away with never hitting driver. Hazards are in play every hole and any miss has a chance to be in hazard. Greens had been punched and were almost filled back in but they were still a little bumpy. Fairways had some bad spots but nothing terrible. Can’t wait to go back and play again now that I’ve seen the course.

Solid course but hard
I’ve been playing LK for about 15 years now. It’s a good course , but not for the faint of heart. Not a lot of margin for error on the fairways or greens. Bring lots of balls because you will loose a lot

Way over priced
Course is certainly not worth the price charged on Golfnow. Several dead spots in fairways and tee boxes. Overall not well maintained with lots of weeds. Greens very rough as they had been recently aerated and still showed the aeration holes which impacted putting. There was no indication of an aeration alert when booking. Would not play this course again especially at the ninety dollar cost.

Great round of golf
Course greens had been punched two weeks earlier. Not quite back to excellent conditions but, nice course and layout.

Call first to get correct directions too course, the greens were just sanded which they don’t tell you , tight course , straight is good idea from tee. Would play again

Great layout, rough aerated greens
No one was on the course because greens were recently serrated and very rough. If they turn out to be smooth and fast then I’d highly recommend this course.
