Lost Key Golf Club
About
Lost Key Golf Club is conveniently situated equidistant from the historic downtown area of Pensacola and the pristine white sand beaches of Orange Beach and the Gulf Shores. The Arnold Palmer-designed layout was Florida's first golf course to be certified as an Audubon International Silver Signature Sanctuary. It underwent a major renovation in 2006 that included the addition of 2,200 native trees, 13,000 wetland plantings, and the resurfacing of the tees, greens, fairways, and rough. The golf course now presents a formidable test for even the most seasoned golfers. The greens are large and undulating and the flat fairways are lined with trees. There are also doglegs fairways on six holes and sand bunkers on several others. Lost Key Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 13th hole, which requires a tee shot over water to a partial island green that rolls across dramatic elevation changes.

Great course
The only complaint I have is due to current aerification of the course. I felt as if that wouldn’t have been a factor every thing would be 5 star. Very friendly staff.
Hello, Airkane. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
Tough course
Very nice course but very narrow and a lot of water and woods. Stay in the fairway or loose your ball. Conditions were excellent and we never saw anyone ahead of us. I lost about 8 balls. Front nine is much more forgiving but the back nine is tough. Beware!
Your feedback is important to us. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing @LostKeyGolfClub.

Great value
My wife and I loved it. They even had senior ladies tees so it was great for my wife. All employees were very polite and helpful.
We're glad you and your wife enjoyed your 5-star experience with us. Please comment or reach out to our team in the golf shop to let us know more about your round! Thanks for choosing @LostKeyGolfClub.

Great experience
Course was in great condition front nine pace of play was slow, back nine was nice overall just a great experience.
Arnold Palmer course tough and tight in spots
I liked the course but it is not a friendly place for a high handicap player I’m a 10 and I lost 5 balls only 2 of which I would blame the tightness of the course I probably hit driver on 9 holes I hit 5 wood and my 3 hybrid on the rest hole 10 is to tight for driver and I still had 180 to another tight shot by the green so be aware this course is not easy. When I arrived at 9:30 am no one was there at the bag drop when I pay 90 dollars to play I expect a little better service also no one meet me to take care of my clubs after the round I normally would expect that at a high end course of you tip for these services and I do. All that being said I think the course was in great shape and enjoyed my day they also let my wife ride with me and no charge some courses have a fee for this. I do recommend the course it’s a beautiful setting. Pace of play was good waited a fair amount but I was a single which comes with the territory played in 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Great layout
Every hole is different. Bring good tee shots and short game. Greens roll nice and are in good shape. We waited on many shots but finished our round in 3 1/2 hrs so pace was good.
Outstanding greens
The course isn't in tour condition, but very good condition and the greens are very close to tour condition. The layout is fun and interesting.
Very nice
Very nice course but expensive. Not that its not worth it, but could be busier if they ran deals more often. It is an excellent course
Great layout with a lot of hazards.
Definitely play again. Course in great shape, greens were true , and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Great course
Nice greens and fairways. Reasonable landing areas. Well maintained course. Friendly and helpful staff. Played here 3 times out of 8 available golf days. People I spoke with in the area called it “lost ball key gc”. Not true. Really a fun course, nice layout and variety.
Great course!
Lost ball is a great course and in my opinion, one of the best courses on the FL panhandle. The course is always in great shape and the staff is extremely friendly. For the money, this course is a GREAT value. It is about an hour away from me, but well worth the drive. I love the risk/reward factor of the layout and it requires that you make shots but not a grip it and rip course at all. If you havent played here, do yourself a favor and play it!
RI GOLFERS LOVE IT
Clearly best challenge and value in the Orange Beach area. Hit is straight but enjoy Lost Ball!
Bring your A game
I enjoyed playing this course but it severely punishes you for errant shots. Last time I played it was about ten years ago so I made some tactical errors that I would have avoided if I was more familiar with the course. The course was in good condition but the fairways were a bit thin on grass. The greens were in very good condition and fast. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I had difficult finding this course as they have changed the entrance and it is not clearly marked on the main road. After you get by the security gate it is a bit of a maze to find the clubhouse. I Liked playing the course but wouldn’t call it a great value for the money. If you play it bring extra balls. You will need them.
Lost Key demands exceptional ballstriking
Yes, Lost Key Golf Club is nicknamed “Lost Balls.” And, yes, it absolutely lives up to the moniker.
Lost Key demands pure ballstriking and puts a premium on accuracy off the tee. As a first-shot golf course, you must be in the fairway to consistently make pars. Wayward drives have little margin for error as scrub and wetlands await just paces off the fairways. Therefore, the driver can, and probably should, remain in the bag and never see its’ headcover removed. This shouldn’t be a hinderance. As a 4.5 handicap playing from the blue tees, I used 3 wood on the longer par 4s and did not have an issue with leaving any longer approach shots. 170 yards is about the most I had in to a par-4 green, and most were around 150 yards.
Should you hit it in the junk, I wouldn’t advise poking around trying to find your ball. I did such and stumbled upon the biggest cottonmouth snake I’ve ever seen. Beware!.
The paspalum greens putted beautifully and alternate in size (I found them to break far less than I read). The collection of par 3s, which I found to be very strong, utilized very small greens. The 11th hole played only 135 yards into the wind, but the diminutive green resembled the Postage Stamp at Royal Troon. There are no real bailouts on any par 3 other than the second hole. So, like your tee ball, irons must be well-struck or they will find hazards or the multitude of bunkers found throughout.
My only constructive criticism would be that this course would do well to produce a course yardage guide. There is no GPS in the carts, and though there is a course hole layout diagram on the scorecard, it is of minimal help. For first-timers, it would vastly speed up pace of play to be able to see where you should hit shots instead of trying to guess, as many tee shots have blind landing areas - particularly the 18th hole.

Challenging course
Course is very tough, but scenic. Fairways are extremely tight, and there are hazards on every hole. If you come here expecting to shoot par, you’ll walk away very frustrated. Relax and enjoy the challenge this unique course offers. There were a few dead spots in the fairway and on the green, but 90% of the course was in pristine shape. I did find it odd none of the bunkers were raked. Starter initially was not very friendly after I drove past him to fill up my water bottle and to get my towel wet. However, he did let me out early. The twilight rate ($39 + tax) was reasonable, but I would not pay their regular rate which is much higher.
Not a Good Time
Lost Key is pretty, and its practice facility is nice, and the staff are friendly. But the course itself could not be more unenjoyable. The fairways are preposterously narrow. The hazards are EVERYWHERE (for example, the red stakes bordering the 10th green). It’s just not pleasant. I shot my handicap and couldn’t believe it, because based on the amount of fun I’d had, I figured I’d shot 110. I doubt that I’ll return.
Hello, JC. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We strive for a 5-star experience, so thank you for your feedback. We work hard to maintain the course for everyone's benefit, which means aerifying the greens as part of our regular maintenance schedule. The greens will be healed soon and in pristine condition. Please come back soon for another 5-star experience @LostKeyGolfClub.
