Marcus Pointe Golf Club
About
Marcus Pointe Golf Club tumbles across 600 acres of rolling woodlands, which is a rare occurrence in the mostly flat Panhandle area. The back nine is where golfers really begin to notice the dramatic undulations. Earl Stone, who has designed several Gulf Coast golf courses, created the layout. He has built his reputation on building playable and affordable courses. While water may not come into play often, golfers will still be kept on their toes by the numerous sand bunkers and an abundance of trees and of course, the tricky angles and elevation changes throughout. The golf course is challenging but fair with a playability that appeals to golfers of all skill levels. The greens are well manicured and keep all abilities in mind. Four sets of tees make Marcus Pointe Golf Club even more accessible.

Love the layout. Greens in rough condition.
Course layout was amazing. Elevation changes were awesome. Fairways were pretty good. But the greens are in rough condition. They had dusted them with sand. But you can tell the greens need a lot of work. Lots of missing grass on greens.
Greens
I have played this course 4-5 times over the years. Usually a nice track in good shape. This year the greens were lost and two holes had temp greens on them. Made us very mad because there was no advertising about it.
Greens in rough shape
The greens or in rough shape hardly no grass at all. Some holes were moved from original greens to a temp at least 70 + yards fed of the greens. The Marshall or the person working the front desk did not tell u before u played. I would like a refund for the round not worth the price I payed. A big ripoff.
Course needs some care.
Always loved the layout of Marcus point. The course was in the worse shape I've seen it. There were 2 temporary greens, but could've been 18. Don't know if it was fungus, bugs, or what but all the greens were at least half bare or dead. Not a good time to play with the shape they were in. I realize that this can't be helped at times, but the front side apparently had not been mowed in a few days. Some holes the rough was over 6 inches in places and a few holes there was no definition between the rough and fairway...and we haven't had a wet spell, so it wasn't for it being too wet to mow. Hoping the course gets some needed care.
Marcus Pointe
All the greens were extremely patchy with an abundance of dead spots and two holes with temporary greens! The tee boxes were about the same but I didn't have to putt on the tee box! There was a 6th-some ahead of me but I couldn't really tell if all six were playing but they were exceedingly slow! The pro shop lady informed me that I could only tee off on my GolfNow purchased tee time and that I would have to play with my GolfNow partners (even though I bought a single tee time and did not know the other members of the group)! No big deal but there was definitely some animosity there towards GolfNow!
Bad to worse '
From the grouchy codger in the proshop to the miserable condition of the course this is acourse to avoid!
Course Shape
Greens are in rough shape. Only the back nine is open and there are two holes with temporary greens made in front of the normal greens. Fairways are getting better but greens hopefully will be back soon. $30 is a little high for only 9 holes available and with the rough shape of the greens.
Too bad
I’m sorry to say that the course conditions are extremely bad. The greens are the worst I’ve seen in years. $39 is just too much for the course conditions. You literally can’t keep score on these greens you might as well pick up your ball making a put is virtually impossible
The course has great features. It was challenging but not overwhelming for my first time out.
Might be my new favorite course in Pensacola
I golfed here with a friend and we both agreed this is our new favorite course. Other than the greens being in need of updating we couldn't ask for a better day weatherwise and the course was very pretty and well laid out. Would like to see more yardage markers but at least they had 150 and 200 poles. The layout of the course was very nice. I would definitely play here again.
terrible greens
These are the worst greens I've ever played and this course used to have really nice greens. Don't know what happened but people should be made aware of how bad the greens are when booking and I hope the can do something to recover. Money should be refunded
COURSE REALLY SAD
Have golfed this course many times in the past. Played about 2 months ago and the course was in poor condition....Played again today and the condition was even worse. Greens are not puttable and fairways are a mess. Hope they can get it fixed. It's a nice layout.
Terrible Greens
There is no polite way to state this - the greens are TERRIBLE!! I haven't seen greens at Marcus this bad in at least six years and haven't seen any other area courses in this poor of shape in at least the past four years. The practice green is about 60% dirt and it doesn't get any better on the course. Most greens are 60-80% dirt; some pin placements were on the only 10-15ft diameter circle of grass on the entire green. And there is no rate discount for the poor condition either. I highly recommend staying away until at least May to give the greens an opportunity to fill in.
