Terrible Course
The greens were very fuzzy. They didn’t appear to have been cut or rolled in days. The fairways were patchy and not maintained very well. Definitely not worth the money. I’ve played courses in Kentucky in the winter that were in better shape. There’s only one reason that course stays in this condition..... Because you want it to. Good enough is never good enough.
Enjoyable but not really good for scoring.
Staff was very helpful. The layout was good. Greens were very slow, which was funny since the pro shop guy said they were fast. I’ve played fairways faster.
Relaxed friendly course
Always inviting and friendly place for players of all skill levels and some great food too.Best place in Pensacola for the money
Fun Day!
Outside of all the holes being really close together, it was a straightforward fun course to play with some family from this area. Even though they don’t play much they were able to enjoy this course!
Good course for a quick round
I play this course once or twice a month and it is perfect for me as a beginner/high handicapper. Usually the least expensive course in Pensacola, and it isn't the nicest that I've played at,; however, every hole is playable. The fairways are fairly narrow but even I don't lose too many balls. The greens are probably the worst part of the course, but even they are in decent shape most of the time and are consistent in speed. All in all of you are just looking for a fun day out, or just a day at the range, I would recommend Osceola 10/10 times.
Terrible Condition
This course is usually in bad shape so I play it because of convenience and price. Always hoping maybe it will be better than the last time....nope, not a chance. Only the bunkers are in excellent shape. Fairways are so hard and thin, greens are very bad. But I did not have high expectations so i still enjoyed myself.
Thank you for keeping us safe
Thank you for keeping us safe.
Also for staying open. People here are great and golf course conditions are getting better every day.
Osceola is still open!
Thank goodness Osceola is still open. Best and friendliest staff in Pensacola. Love this place
Losing their greens
I was completely surprised at how much the greens have deteriorated in the past 10 days. Some greens are 40% bare dirt, and almost every green is bare along the fringes. This course sees a lot of traffic which is evident from the tee box condition. A lot of people visit this municipal course that aren't completely up to speed with proper golf etiquette - driving on or near tee boxes and greens, not repairing pitch marks, putter chunks in the greens taken in frustration. However, the course could help itself by installing some rope barriers and cart signage to direct traffic, especially at the ends of cart paths and the green approach areas to help alleviate the cart erosion and bare hardpan. I would recommend playing this course soon because at the rate of deterioration over the past several days it may be unplayable by the end of the month.
It's Ugly
If you can play it on the cheap, you should check it out in case some day it improved. However, if you are looking for a course to walk, this one would be it. Fairly flat. There isn't a good lie to be had anywhere. The greens and bunkers are not that bad. The restaurant and bar are pretty good, Pro shop folks are nice. Carts are okay. If you are playing with someone you like , you could enjoy it as long as you agree to bump the ball, but you still won't find a good lie.
Soapy Suds Shows Self-Respect
I've come to learn through years on the links that a quick way to determine if the Course employees are treated well is silly but tell-tale: is there clean, soapy water at the ball washing stations? Even today, when courses are closing due to lowered attendance (tough for millennials w/ 2.3-sec. attention span to endure a 3-hr. round of golf)-- many courses who lack self-respect keep muddy water in the washers. Conditions yesterday were perfect. Staff ALWAYS friendly. And I love how the golf course Architect smiles on well-placed shots at Osceola. THANK YOU Osceola for all except the 60-foot would-be chip-in on Hole-#07 that hit the pin and landed a foot away.
Mow your greens!
Love the course - great value. People in clubhouse are very nice. Course condition just fair. Greens on this day were very slow. It's hard to play normal golf when you have to bash the ball with the putter. Fairways and rough are scruffy with many dead spots and problems with weeds. Other than that it was a great day to play golf.
First round
Played the course today and the course was decent for the price. Course was in pretty good shape overall. Greens were pretty good and pace of play was good until the last four hole when I came up on a sixem that wouldn’t let a single play through.
An ok course
This was my third time playing here. The conditions of the course has gotten worse each time I came to play. The greens on the front 9 are really bad. Greens were better on the back 9.
Fun municipal course. Not much grass on fairways but it will come next month. Good course for the $
