Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club
About
Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club sprawls across a scenic landscape of native wetlands, an abundance of hardwood trees, and a generous smattering of meandering creeks and sparkling lakes. The beautiful terrain sets it apart from other golf courses in the Atlanta area. The course is known for the numerous grass-walled bunkers filled with pristine white sand that are strategically placed throughout. The player-friendly greens are wide and approachable, but there is the occasional multi-tier to watch out for. The generous nature of the greens also allows for a variety of pin placements. The natural features of the landscape at Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club not only provide beautiful scenery but they also make for a more interesting game since they require you to get creative with your shot-making, especially when trying to figure out how to handle some of the tricky carries.

A few problems
This course is an interesting layout. Some beautiful and fun to play holes. Greens were in great shape. Played in high winds which made it really a tough layout, even from the forward tees. There are a couple of big issues. Course goes out and doesn't return to the clubhouse after 9 holes and there is no halfway house. Only two water stops and three port-a-potties. No cart girl. It was a weekday. Most irritating was there was no yardages. Not on sprinklers, strips on the cart paths or stakes. Pro shop folks were friendly but couldn't get waited on in the 19th hole. Counter man apparently had an extremely important phone call and couldn't take time to take orders.
Challenging but good layout
Depending on which tees you play from, can be very challenging.
Has a great mix of shorter and long holes.
Great variety.
Greens in good shape.
Thank you "Adam6944030"!
great course
great course for this time of year and lack of rain. Had a good time.
Hey "rbohannon" thank you for the positive review! We are glad to hear that you had a good time out there.
Great Golf
Always love this course. Fair and mostly open. And then there is the Cheeseburger.
Hey "u000006790553" thank you for the positive review! Come back again soon.
Friday play
Played here a few times and in general, I like playing
here. Only quibble I have is sometimes pace of play can be quite slow. Also would be nice if grounds staff clears the leaves on a timely basis in the fall.
Hi "olumide1" thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We apologize that the pace of play was a little slow but we still hope to see you back here soon!
Great golf course
I think it's a real nice course great layout .Style friendly ,I would recommend this golf course to my friends .some of the greens was a little rough but beside that ,everything else was good.
Hi cospyp,
Thank you for your five star review! We appreciate your feedback and we're so happy to know that you enjoyed your round of golf at Crystal Lake. Come back and play again soon!
Best,
Crystal Lake Management
Hard to rate...
The layout is great with a nice mix of long and short holes; however, the routing is very confusing. See my Tip for that. The sun had definitely taken its toll on the greens which were a mix of thin grass and dirt. They had been cut and rolled that morning and they putted true. What was odd was I booked through GolfNow and there were 1-3 other players available at that time. I assumed I'd be paired with at least one other golfer, but was sent off as a single (first person out) on a course I had never seen and it was still dark outside. My first two shots were "hit and hope". Fortunately I piped both down the middle and narrowly missed a birdie on the first hole. The guy in the Pro Shop was polite, but of little information or value to me as a visitor to the course. I'd come back to play it when the greens improve as the layout and challenge were worth the drive.
Hi Terry6247156,
Thank you for your four star rating! We're happy to know you enjoyed the layout and challenge of the course. We look forward to having you back for another round soon!
Best,
Crystal Lake Management
Great Value and Alot of Fun
I recently played Crystal Lake on a weekend trip to Atlanta with friends. The course was in excellent condition and played great. The staff member in the pro shop was very friendly and accommodating. The greens rolled great and the scenic views were amazing. I would highly recommend this course and plan on playing it again next time I am in the Atlanta area.
Hey "Cessna49848" thank you so much for the 5* review! We are glad you were satisfied with the course conditions and enjoyed our staff. We hope you guys make a trip over here again soon!
Crystal Lakes
It is a true gem, I had a 8:50am tee time, course was wide open, I'm a lefty and a lot of the holes set up to the left, I took advantage of my right to left ball flight, be careful though if you over cook, your done in by side bunkers and a wild rough on deep upslopes. The only negative is that I was a single, this is definitely a course where you would enjoy playing with others.
Hey "hichip1" thank you so much for coming out to play! We really appreciate the positive feedback and hope to see you soon; bring your friends this time!
On Second Thought...
After successfully playing 20 golf courses in California, for a month and a half, from as far north as Modesto, to as far south as Temecula...I'm back home in Atlanta, Georgia and have decided to gave Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club, a second chance, because it came so highly rated by most golfers I know.
I started off by hitting a bucket of the dirty balls you've ever seen...So,
I'm thinking "Here We Go Again!
But, I spot a gentleman, to my left hitting bright shiny white range balls, So I asked, "Sir, How did you get those shiny white range balls, cause all of mine are dirty!"
And he said," Because I am SPECIAL"
"Huh?!?!"
And He said, Ask anyone here, I am SPECIAL". and he smiled, I laughed, and relaxed for the very first time.
(I later found out...He actually hand picked over 80 balls, from the range ball bin!)
Mr. Special, also advised Me on several golf tips as we both hit balls, from the range, and made Me, a 4 month Golfer, feel right at home on this course.
The front 9 was wide open, the course was in very good condition and played excellent, plus the greens were pretty fast, and the fairways,. well maintained!
What a treat, with a set on brand new clubs, I had the best time and day of my young Golf career and was quite pleased, for having "Second Thoughts"
Had a great lunch of Fried Grouper and Cole Slaw...best tasting white fish ever!
As I started a the back 9, I spotted a familiar face...one of the reasons, I hate this place, So...I tried to hide, but to My surprised I was waved over and invited to join the trio of, Duke, Stan and Mingo.
As we played, the etiquettes of Golf, was explained to Me, as well as tips to help my game, as everyone joked and had a great time!!!
Now, I would like to apologize, for the first review, of Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club.some two months ago, cause I can see My mistakes and poor etiquette.
The Local members here are only concern, plus I have just had the "Best Day of My short Golf Career...
Thanks to Duke, Stan And Mingo...
And so will You! Take a day off work, grab that once or twice a week GOLFNOW, Hot Deal Special, and play this Golf Course. It's Really Worth It!!!
Hey "SullenOne" thank you so much for the positive review. We are glad that you were willing to give the course a second chance! It sounds like you had an awesome time and we hope to see you again soon!
Golf Nightmare
I do not recommend this course. We were overcharged, there were no marshals to help the pace of play, and the golf etiquette of other players were rude towards females, singles and double golfers. We will not play this course again. We would not recommend this course to a geese.
Hi "C5041282" we apologize that you not have an enjoyable time out on the course. Can you please send us an email at crystallakegolfandcountryclub@gmail.com and provide us with more details about your reservation? Thank you.
A value at any price on GolfNow...
Crystal Lakes is certainly one of the finest courses on the south side of Atlanta. It's a tough layout, in very good condition, with all the amenities. The greens were near perfect with just a few bad spots...mainly on the first few holes...and of course they were keeping the pin away from them. The fairways were lush, the rough was very playable and there was good sand in the traps. You won't be disappointed with Crystal Lakes!
Hey "605156" thank you so much for the 5* review. We really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review and provide us with your feedback! Again, thank you for the positive endorsement and we hope to see you again soon!
Well Maintained; No Refreshments
The course was in very good shape for mid-August. Greens had too many unrepaired ball marks, but were healthy, firm, and fast overall. Tees, fairways, and rough areas were healthy and well maintained. Bunkers were all freshly raked.
I have two gripes, though.
The heat index was over 100 degrees, and the only source of refreshment were the two water coolers. Since this is a continuous, non-returning 18-hole layout, these two water coolers need to be supplemented by vending machines and/or refreshment carts to ensure players are well-hydrated and comfortable. However, neither was available, making the round slow and oppressively hot.
Also, Hole #16 was "carts on path only" for some unknown reason, which was made worse by the lack of refreshments from the previous 15 holes.
Hey "redboggan" we appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback. Thank you for the positive feedback about the course conditions. We do apologize about the water situation you had on the course. Thank you for coming out and playing!
One of my favorites.
I'm always happy to find out our foursome will be playing at Crystal Lakes. The facilities are great, the course is in fantastic shape, and the pace of play was reasonable (if not incredibly quick) given that there were groups piled up in front of and behind us. We never had an outrageous wait off the tee or into the green, and once we made the turn, it opened up even more. A few of the greens had some rough spots, but they rolled true and the speeds were about perfect. For a group that usually plays from the tips, the 7200+ yards was a bit daunting for us, so we moved up a tee and still found a challenging ~6700 yards. One of the par 3's was playing about 230, and another at about 135. The course asks you to hit all of your shots, but it's a fun and playable course for anyone.
Hey "sjtondreau" we are so happy to hear that you and your friends enjoy coming out to Crystal Lake! We really appreciate your feedback because we are always striving to provide all of our customers with the ultimate golfing experience. We hope to see you again soon.
Great Course
One of my favorites. Challenging but fun.
Hey "Ray8416417" thank you for the kind words! Come see us soon!
Big C
Course is generally in good shape and plays fair.
We're glad to hear it! Thanks for your review!
Great Shape!
Simply one of the best courses in Ga. My favorite is Bears Best, however, when I'm visiting my family South; Crystal Lake is the first order of business prior to seeing family!
Thank you for your 5 Star review! We are thrilled that you love our course so much. Hope to see you soon!
Crystal Lake
Course was in great shape as always. Fairway and greens look great. This course is always challenging and tough.
Thank you for your 5 Star review! We are pleased to hear that you find our course to always be in great shape. Hope to see you soon!
Where is the 11th and 12th hole???
I will never play this course again, I met two of the rudest Golfers in my life, definitely not a course for a beginner, or first time player to this course, unless You are given the oddities of this course first...
1) Hole 3, leads you directly into hole 8, which any normal person would think is hole 4. If by chance, after you've finish hole 3 and happen to be staring downward while driving, it's noted on a rock, "Hole 4 is to the right, not to the left where a tee box is staring you in the face. POOREST SIGNAGE EVER.
2) Finished hole 10, followed cart path, which lead me straight to hole 13. My luck, was a maintain worker, who pointed out a RED cattle gate, which hides hole's 11 and 12. Again, POOREST SIGNAGE EVER...
Locals, police this course, with a vengeance, and are quick to point out any and all mistakes you might make. FOR PROFESSIONAL ONLY!
This course came highly recommendated, but, I can't see why....
Hi "SullenOne" we apologize that you did not have a nice time out on the course and are sorry for any confusion you experienced out there. We appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback. Anyone new to the course will probably appreciate it as well. Again, we are sorry that you did not have a nice experience out on the course and hope you will come see us again soon.
