Pleasant enough, but nothing special. Look for a discounted green fee and you'll be OK with it. Great pace of play! Free range balls were a plus.
i will be back
course is perfect for beginners and seniors.
water hazards and sand are placed so not to be too
punishing and not to slow too much the playing time.
the club med ownership shows true the frendly staff.
Shaggy and a little tired
This course was tired to say the least. I played for 15.00 and I thought that was enough. Lots of nicer courses around for a few bucks more.
can't believe i've never played here before
lived here my whole life and just played here and loved it some challenging holes along with simple straight short holes nice mixture of both. the range and practice greens are nice as well. clubhouse is very large with all kinds of stuff in it but best of all everyone I came in contact with from the security guard at the gate to the cart guy and to the ladies in the club all where very friendly and all thanked us from choosing to play there that weekend and that is why I will be playing here a lot more often
Needs Work
The greens on this course were not good at all. Loaded with sand and damaged in places
Club Med should put some money into this course!
basically I thought this place was a dump. no need to go back, tried it 3 times. Overcrowded, slow play, mostly beginners.
Fun course to play
Accommodating staff. Good course to play. Has its challenges. Really enjoy playing there
Greens just sanded, but still fun
Fairly open course, several tee options - great for the price. Like to play it again when greens in better shape.
club med
Very nice course, friendly people, free range balls. Gotta luv it!
Straight Forward Course
Nice Course, longish par 3's. Variable par 4 distances. Shortish par 5's. Hazards in play, but avoidable.
Sandpiper - nice experience
I was pleasantly surprised by the Sandpiper course. The greens were consistently slow but we had had 2 to 3 inches of rain the day before. The layout of the course is attractive. I used my golf GPS which helped with the distances. The Pro Shop was amazing. I mean, this is a Club Med facility so it's pretty nice.
greens in rough shape
Good course to practice your game, but greens were super slow and some sandy patches. Made putting extremely difficult, paid $11, for a few dollars more St James golf club is a no brainer, did see an alligator lying in the sun by the water
Fun and Easy
Overall the course is pretty open and relatively fun to play. If you're up to just driving the ball in a fairly decent course then this is it! There was some maintenance being done so the course wasn't 100% but that can happen with any course.
For the price, OK
Course could be much better, needs some TLC. OK conditions. Nice layout with wide fairways. Back 9 was in better shape than front 9.
Would consider playing again, but water dispenser at start was warm with no cups. Bathrooms on course were not clean. Soda machine on course was broken. Cart attendant/Starter seemed dis-interested, shoving our bag covers into the bag. Had to go looking for him to go out.
The whole look of the outside of pro shop area/clubhouse needed some attention.
Going downhill
My wife and I have played this course a few times. She just started playing so the difficulty level is just about right. With Golfnow discounts this course can be played at a really good price, however, there a few issues that we noticed this time around. 1) The white tee boxes are virtually devoid of grass and are really torn up. They were just aerated but they need water and seed desperately. 2) Most, if not all, of the greens have numerous dead spots creating areas that are unplayable. We finally just started moving our ball to an area that had grass even though it may still have been rather bumpy. 3) Most of the fairways are more like hardpan that plush grass. Great for getting a lot of roll but not so great when you are trying to pick the ball cleanly. Professionals may be able to hit the ball first but the rest of us high handicappers need a little grass under the ball. 4) The rough is mostly weeds. It almost seems like they are just letting the course deteriorate for some reason. To be fair we are at the end of the peak golfing season here in Florida and I'm sure this course got a lot of play. Aeration is scheduled for 29 April 2014, hopefully they'll throw a little water on it also. Wish I had taken pictures to back up this review.
Great location. That's it.
Course has great potential however poorly maintained and lack of care for regular patrons. Members of golf academy do whatever they want and the course does not care about guests. Played 3 times in a week and don't think greens were mowed all week. Tee boxes are dirt and greens have many dead spots that makes putting awful. Disappointed from a club med property.
A pleasant round
While the course showed some wear and tear and the greens had some discoloration, I found the round a very pleasant experience aided by the courtesy of two foursomes on the first tee who waived me thru and a threesome that readily asked me to join them when I caught to them.
Why is this course listed on Golf Link?
The first clue should have been the fact that the cash register was "down" and they did not want us to use the driving range as they were having to hand collect the balls because the machine to collect was "down". They had no idea whether we had two other players paired with us or not so had us just queue up. It was difficult to find a solid place to set up the Tee (very sandy). The fairways were poor and the greens were more sand than grass. Impossible to putt. We had paid for 18 holes but were so disappointed that we departed after only playing 9. And the pace of play was extremely slow due to poor timing from the starter.
Course needs a lot of work
Greens in bad shape. Fairways poor. They need a new groundskeeper.
