Governor's Towne Club

Staff, amenities, range, and experience was great. Curtis Strange did a great job with the design and is maturing nicely. Few greens had some issues but they have been getting better. Staff from arriving to the range to the first tee all make you feel like a member. Well worth the price during the week.

Way over priced for conditions of greens. Members are absolutely rude and inconsiderate. Had a confrontation with a member for a ball going “near” him that led to him driving down to threaten me, continued to harass and follow me threatening me the whole time. No acknowledgement or apology from staff. Absolutely ridiculous. Will never go back or recommend to anyone.

Will definitely play here again. Wide open fairways, beautiful greens, well maintained course, challenging. A bit pricey but worth it.

Excellent day on the course. No pressure behind us which made for a relaxing round.

T-boxes were well maintained and level everytime.

Greens had been sanded but not bad. Slow.

Fair pin positions allowed us to have fun.

The course was closed when I arrived. They said they were not responsible for reservations made thru the site.

I was a member their for 7 years add truly move the course but they have had a severe disease problem on the greens, hired a new superintendent who made the decision to close Tues and Wednesday for aeration.

Very frustrating given it’s an hours drive. It seems logical your sire would have been notified an issued an alert to all bookings.

Tee boxes were average, greens were crap, local members had no consideration for visitors. All in all it was a great mediocre course. We had a 3some and typically play fast, members were driving down on every other hole and made comments about damage on previous greens, basically insinuating that we caused such damage, which I can assure we did not. May be a great course for members but for someone who was looking for a club to join, I will continue to look elsewhere. The level of disrespect and blatant disregard of a “member for the day” has completely taken this club off of my list of “clubs to consider”.

No coffee or snacks anywhere. No water on cart just ice.???? Had to ask for a towel. Traps were not raked. Come on players. I am a member so I am not there often but no consistency

I have played Governors Towne Club many times (10+) and have usually had a great experience. Writing this on 10/14/21, the greens were in bad shape. They had not been cut, rolled soooo slow, bumpy, and shaggy. Some of the greens have rot in them as well which is just a tough look for such a nice property. The layout is really great, fairways are wide open and it is always a refreshing round. It was just a tough scene on the greens and many of the tee boxes as well.

Greens were in bad shape with root rot of some sort. Putting was not true and ball rolls were haphazard made more difficult by the extra sand they were laying down. Driving range and facility as a whole were good. I have played this course 4-5 times before in past years and it now needs a lot more work.

The club house is huge and impressive. The fairways are good but not amazing. The greens are not in great condition, very shaggy and covered with pits. Not worth $100.

I was looking forward to playing this course based on previous reviews, but I was very disappointed. I can't upload any pictures, but this course was in rough shape. Nowhere close to worth the cost of the round. I get there has been a lot of rain in the area, but it didn't look like anyone was even trying to tend to the issues.

This place is beautiful. There’s no doubt. Nice chipping area. Good driving range. Nice staff. Fairways are in great shape. But the greens are TERRIBLE. Ruin the round terrible. They’re cut way too high leading to very slow greens and many have sand field bald spots. This would be fine if the costs was in the $50-70 range but when you’re charging $100 per round, the place should be pretty pristine in my opinion.

The Greens were in terrible shape and would think someone tells you and see if you prefer not to play it in that condition. They did not let us know. I would not go there again.
