Governor's Towne Club

Course conditions are really poor currently, especially for the green fees that they charge. Green complexes are very poor along with some of the tea boxes. I wouldn’t recommend playing there for several months until I can get things turned around.

Fix the greens before you charge $115. Coool it’s a private course but it was unacceptable. Some holes it wasn’t even worth putting. Seen nicer greens at creekside for $40

A beautiful course that unfortunately due to the greens was basically unplayable. Very disappointed with the price vs playability.

Typically this golf course in one of my favorites. However, there is some type of fungus that has taken over the greens and most are in very poor condition. The layout is fantastic and the fairways are in great condition, but the greens are horrible right now. Definitely a poor value for $105. Hoping they can repair the greens quickly but this the second time I’ve played in the past four weeks and they have not improved during that time.

First time playing this course. The staff is very friendly. They conveyed to me that some of the greens were being worked on. We were told some of the greens had a disease which is why they are not ideal. This is the reason for my ratings in September/ 2021. The greens will be in great shape in the spring 2022. This should not deter you from playing this course.

The tee boxes, fairways and cart paths were in excellent shape. Wide fairways. Great elevations. A variety of holes -doglegs, etc… Nice selection of fee boxes. I played middles-blues. Definitely privacy between holes.

I would definitely play again if in the area. I would definitely recommend this track.

The course was in decent shape. Most of the greens were pretty beat up and in rough shape. Definitely not what you would expect for $115

Current green conditions are bad. Some greens are almost lost. Big bare spots, bumpy, under repair, etc. a few tee boxes are a little bare. Fairways and around greens are still great. I’m sure it’ll be back to a great track in a month or so, but for now, it’s not worth it. You’ll expect more for what you pay. It should be a lower price during this time.

Usually love everything about this course but today a few of the greens were pretty messed up but other than that had the most fantastic time as always.

I’m sure it’s a great course when in good condition however I find it a very bold decision to open it to the public for $75 a round when it’s in its current condition. I’ve seen better greens at $15 muni courses.

Should not be $100 while greens are in the condition they are in. Great course from tee box up to the green., but greens alone make this course a terrible value. Avoid until it is fixed.

The service in the restaurant was very poor . Course was very nice although the greens in poor shape due to a disease effecting them.

Course was in good shape with the exception of the greens. Crab grass and patches all over the place. We have played here numerous times under good conditions but this time the greens were in poor condition. Hopefully they get the greens back on track because we like the course. Food and drink in the clubhouse was excellent as usual.

I like this course alot and have played there many times. I will not play there again until the putting greens are in better condition. They were in horrendous shape, barely playable and this place is still charging over $100/round. I can honestly say I've never seen greens in such bad shape in 15 years of playing golf. The superintendent should be embarrassed to have people play there.

I have played Governors Towne Club course many times, and it has always been one of my favorites, until today. The greens were in horrible condition.. I believe every putt had to travel over crab grass, and many greens were bare for a foot or two in from the edge. Just terrible condition. To make matters worse, they have raised their fees for morning tee times, so the value proposition has deteriorated. Finally(and I have never before had this happen), we had an over zealous range master berated our foursome three times on the front nine for slow play, even though we finished the front nine in about 2 hours. No matter how many times he asked us to play faster, there was no way to do it, unless of course we didn't bother to putt. There was a two some behind us that the range master felt obligated to protect is some crazy way, even though we offered to have them play through. They didn't complain. So in summary, the course conditions, the pricing and the staff make the Governors Towne Club course a poor choice for a fun day of golf.
