Still greening
Course is still in winter shape; greens still recovering from being punched, fairways thin and bare spots. Hopefully in a week or two grass will bloom and it will fill in. Some forced holes but overall fun layout!
What’s wrong with modern golf
The course is fine, some quirky holes, greens were punched day we played, and it was pricey for the value you are getting. It is understandable, though, given the popularity of the game and the time of the year.
But, the players on the weekend who play this course represent everything that is wrong with modern golf. Slow course play, not repairing pitch marks, poor etiquette, playing from the wrong tees based on skill level, and taking too long at the turn. One group who teed off some 30 minutes before us took so long at the turn that the group in front of us passed them at the turn. Unfortunately, we were not so lucky. If the course marshals (not just this course but all public courses) were more forceful in enforcing both the written and unwritten rules of the game, it would have been a more enjoyable round. But, this course like a lot other non-private courses in the ATL metro represents everything that is wrong with modern golf.
Go To Course
This is our go to course. We like playing here. Course challenging, staff is friendly.
A couple of suggestions; one, we would like to see a Marshal go around periodically to keep pace up. Pace in front of us was slow and we were hit into twice.
Also suggestion would be to do something with the washout areas next to cart paths.
All was good for the time of year
The day was good for this time of year. Pace of play was a bit slow. We had ice and show the prior weekend, and there was still some on the ground in the woods. Fairways were a bit wet with the runoff. The staff was great, and course condition was good-given the weather. The greens were in good shape and putts rolled true. This is a hilly course-I highly recommend a cart...
The track is very nice
A wonderful day on a very nice course. Staff was great from check-in to tee box. A little slow as we were paired with a slower pair. But nothing obnoxiously slow. 1 twosome played though on the front 9. Conditions were great and greens were running nicely. Tees were all forward so ‘whites’ probably played closer to 5700, but still a challenge to stay within the par window. Had a great time!
2 weeks from.aeration
Was bumpy on the greens, but healing quickly. Elevation is a challenged for me, but for some reason I score well here. Roughs consumed golf balls....keep.looking
Good course, poor customer service
Pretty good course and layout but the guy working the desk thinks he is king of the world. Don’t try to play late afternoon by yourself while the course is wide open. They will turn you away.
First cut
I found that when your tee shot drifts away from the center of the fairway, the ball would run a couple of yards off the fairway into the rough. Having a first cut of a couple of yards would assist in rewarding a decent drive, as the first cut would slow a roller, keeping a decent shot from a punishing lie in the deep rough. I found that drifting just 1 yard off the fairway, your ball disappears in the rough, punishing a decent shot!
A small “first cut” area would make it more fun.Thx!
Nice course
I play this course pretty consistently. Practice facilities are pretty nice. Staff is always friendly, and accommodating. This is a beautiful course.
So-so course
This course winds through a nice neighborhood. When a course is in the environment, be prepared for the least desirable land, the type that is wet!
I very much dislike a course the requires a layup on a Par 5 after an excellent drive, like 18. Layups on long hole should be required after bad shots. Driver sand wedge, sand wedge is not good design. Several uphill holes on the course, the likes I never seen before.
As mentioned, this place can be wet. I don’t recommend playing when it’s CPO.
The staff are very accommodating. The rangers and starters are among the friendliest I have encountered.
The cart service is infrequent. Be sure to bring your own water.
They should consider switching hole 1 to hole 10. The front 9 makes it difficult to get into any rhythm. The back 9 is much more enjoyable, except the stupid hole 18. .
