About
Situated along Florida's Gulf Coast, Riverside Golf Club in Ruskin is part of a peaceful retirement community. At just over 6,100 yards from the tips, the golf course is on the short side but it still offers an enjoyable round. From the back tees, the course actually presents quite a formidable test. The layout meanders along a creek before wandering across idyllic farmland and finishing along the river bluffs overlooking Hayes Bayou. The diverse terrain provides an array of scenery as well as a variety of different challenges. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides, waiting to swallow errant shots. Riverside Golf Club's layout combines more difficult holes with player-friendly features, which makes it approachable for players of any skill level.

New irrigation system coming?
Fairways were very dry, grass almost dead in many places. Many sandy area in the fairways and around the greens. Greens were pretty good. Tee blocks were pretty dried out too. They had alot of equipment with pipes along sides of the fairways, so it looks like they are installing a new irrigation system.

Ok course
Little grass in the fairways, but they are working on it. I probably won’t be back because it is quite a ways from me.
Diamond in the rough
I first played Riverside when it was just 9 holes. It was in rough shape then and still is for that matter, BUT.......
The long awaited irrigation overhaul is in progress. Once completed the grass will finally get the water it needs to thrive. I'm sure it will take time which is just fine. If you play this course and.can get past the lack of.grass in the fairways you can't help but notice the incredible layout. Once the fairways and tee boxes are lush with healthy green Bermuda and the greens are smooth and fast Riverside will be a true 5 star venue. Every hole is unique, challenging but fair. I can't wait.

Visually Ugly
Very friendly staff and a challenging course are the only redeeming qualities here. If you love your scenery to be upsacle mobile homes and patchy sandy fairways then I guess this is the place for you. Also the 10th hole is no where near the clubhouse. So if you just want to play 9 you're out of luck cause your pretty much forced to play all 18 here, but hey I only paid $25.

Nice course !
Very professional and friendly staff !! They took the time to help direct us where to start and explained where there is construction work going on to improve the course. Nice layout of holes with plenty of space. The ranger came around to make sure we found our way when we encountered the construction and he was very helpful.
Would ot recommend
Course was a nice layout but the conditions were terrible. The fairways had very little grass and the greens were very variable from one to the other
They were installing new irrigation so sometime in the future conditions may improve.

First Time on Tampa Municipal Course
I enjoyed my day even though the course was packed. Nice to know that Tampa has a functioning municipal course. I like the back nine, nice views. Course in average shape but very playable. Will definitely play again for the $.
Fairways need work!
Tee boxes were good, greens with one or two exceptions were very good. Fairways? Terrible! The layout was good and challenging. There is water to contend with on almost every hole, so beware.

Sunday Golf
Decided to get a round of golf in on a Sunday afternoon at Riverside.
Greens were in decent shape
Half of the fairways had grass...half of the fairways needed grass. Pace of play was good for a Sunday afternoon.
Can’t believe that the bar was not open on a Sunday afternoon..... a cold beer would have been great after our round.

NICE DAY AT RIVERSIDE!
Nice cool and windy day... lots of sunshine! They're putting in a whole new irrigation system... so there was some evidence of that work going on. Our two guests
had not played there previously, and they loved it. Best of all, we had a really nice dinner in their restaurant, just in time for happy hour. They have outside seating right along the river... very nice! We'll do that again for sure!
Not too bad a course at all
Friends and I have come to enjoy this course due to its proximity and low cost.
Pace of play can be hit or miss—there was a group of four ahead of us and a group of 8 behind. It moved along OK...just under 4 hours for 17 holes.
They’re working on the course so there was some construction and Hole 15 was out of play.
Just enough water (and nearby homes) to keep the course challenging.
Definitely recommended if you can get a deal on GN or TeeOff.
