The Highlands Golf Course

Very good overall conditions. Some greens could use some work but a great value

Highlands is a great course in good shape compared to others in the region. Only a couple of the greens had small problems and the fairways were very well taken care of.

While I shave only played here 4 times, I now consider this my go-to course while in Sarasota.

I’ve played early morning, mid morning and late afternoon and the course has been in great shape each time.

Staff is friendly and helpful and players seem to follow etiquette well.

I enjoy the difference between the front (narrow and shorter) and the back (wide open and longer).

Nice course. Greens were smooth. Putting was true. Ice & water about every 5-holes.

I went to this course and it’s a great deal for the money no doubt The staff was friendly the course was in so so shape could’ve been a little bit better but again for the price it was great no problems in the fairways it was mostly the greens needed a little bit of work

Always enjoy this course. Good layout and challenge with a decent amount of risk / reward decisions. Course is older and not in perfect condition. However if one can overlook some imperfections you should try this course.

The course holds it own when compared to other courses in the area with similar green fees. Will be back.

The course still looks good. And is playing well. Although no roll in the fairways. However, play was really slow today, no Marshall on the course to monitor slow play

BARBARA in the shop is helpful and friendly. And Mike setting us up in the golf cart couldn’t have been nicer.

Overall course is in rough shape. Tee boxes and greens are poor. Fairways are ok. Pace of play was very slow and no Marshall to improve the pace. Played same course 3 weeks ago and it was in much better shape

Sarasota local here and must say the highlands and the groves golf courses are beautiful and always make for a great round of golf! Will be back many more times!

This is a nice mature layout with a lot of really pretty holes. That said, this course is in dire need of some TLC. The greens are real bumpy and slow with large areas of rot. Probably cost me 7 strokes.

More three putts than I have had in years.. The tee boxes are hit or miss and there are a ton of weeds in the fairway...albeit nicely mowed. I regularly play the Groves course and was surprised at how the condition failed here.

Fist time to play "Highlands" in a couple years.. Since the last time I played the course the sand and traps have been renovated and filled with fresh white sand, Overall the course was in very good and playable shape... A few of the greens had some margional around the aprons but the putting surfaces were in good shape and rolled true..

I’ve played this course a few times over the last couple months. Course condition is usually decent but seems to have gotten worse recently. Fairways are okay and greens are not bad - pretty much what you’d expect for a course in the $25 range. Pro shop worker was extremely rude while when I tried to get a rain check. After completing 9 holes it began pouring so I headed back to the clubhouse to get a 9 hole rain check. He argued with me and said because I booked it on golfnow I couldn’t get one. I explained that I still paid for 18 holes regardless of whether I played them today or another day, but he said it didn’t matter. GolfNow policy specifically states rain checks are to be handled at the course only. I likely will not be back.

The fairways were in good shape as were the greens. The green were a little slow. Outside of that, the course is in good shape . Price I paid was well worth it.
