Golfer Reviews
Memories
I’ve played this course many times since it’s inception. The lack of maintenance is appalling. The greens were the best thing today, even though they had spots that would stop the ball from moving.
Price, pace and conditions
We’re in a drought, but the fairways and greens were healthy.
Price was right, while other courses are charging “season” rates.
Good value and good conditions.
Overall, I’d give (Course) four stars. Considering it’s the middle of summer and only cost $40 total through GolfNow (including fees), I thought it was a solid value. It definitely has some rough edges, but it was still an enjoyable round.
Pros:
* Excellent value. At $40 all-in, it’s hard to complain about the price.
* The greens are outstanding. Just like many other reviews mention, they were in fantastic shape, especially for the middle of summer. Easily the highlight of the course.
* Fairways were in decent condition. I’d rate them around a 6 or 7 out of 10. Certainly playable.
* Fun layout. The par 3s were challenging without being frustrating. Overall, it was an enjoyable course to play.
* Forgiving design. Many of the holes are fairly straight, so there aren’t many places to lose a golf ball. Only a few holes had significant doglegs or sharp turns.
* Friendly staff. Everyone I interacted with was welcoming and happy to answer questions.
Cons:
* The tee boxes need serious work. There really weren’t any good places to tee off. You just pick the best spot among several rough ones.
* The cart paths are probably the worst I’ve driven. They switch between broken concrete and deteriorated asphalt, and the ride is extremely rough. In many places, golfers have created second and even third unofficial paths because the original cart path has become almost unusable.
* Signage is confusing. It was difficult to find the correct tee boxes, and the course uses a mix of old concrete markers, marble markers, and newer post signs, making everything feel cluttered and inconsistent. Even leaving the clubhouse, it wasn’t obvious how to get to the first or tenth tee because most of the signs face people arriving instead of golfers heading out to play.
* The bunkers aren’t really bunkers. They felt more like hard-packed dirt than sand. Some even had moss or green growth in them, and the sand was so firm that the ball would often roll right through instead of plugging.
One helpful tip: The putting green is to the right of the clubhouse, while the chipping green is to the left. Since the signage around the clubhouse is limited, knowing that ahead of time will save you some wandering.
Would I play it again? Absolutely, especially at this price. Just come expecting great greens and a fun, affordable round, not a perfectly manicured country club experience.
Evaluation
Greens and around greens were in great shape…..losing a little grass in some tees and fairways. All in all, I enjoyed playing !!!!
Bad shape.
Fairways have massive dirt patches all over them. Looks like they are not watering them. Tee boxes are terrible. Greens are pretty good on the back nine but very inconsistent on front. Course needs a lot of work.
Great course
We love bent tree. Big fairways but challenging. The course is in good shape for summer in Florida with little rain so far this season. Jon is a great starter!
Mixed conditions
Fairways have many thin and bare spots. Tee boxes rough. They are clearly trying to save the greens in this drought as they are in good condition.
Nice course. Great greens!!
Great Course, great Value
Join, the car guy, is a rockstar! Always welcoming and right there when you park with the cart and ready to load.
Solid track
Nice layout. Greens were in great shape. Fairways not so much. Tee boxes....forget it. But what I appreciated most about the was that they weren't trying to pretend to be something they're not. They know their course is in rough shape… However they charge a fair price. $40 for a Sunday morning teetime is more than fair for this course and the shape it's in especially when a majority of the courses in this area want to charge double this and of course looks exactly the same or worse.
Work in progress
Course is not in good shape at all. Fairways are all pretty much going through a regrow. Tons of bare spots, fairways scalped to promote growth. Tee boxes are all also under a regrow condition. The only saving gravel wss that the Greens were good condition. They had a top dressing applied to mist if them but the balls rolled very well on them. Give the course another month and a half and it should be ib better shape.
Even with all the issues I listed, I would definitely go back. The lay out of the Course was excellent.
