Harvey Penick Golf Campus

My wife gave me this round on my birthday. After taking a class from one of Penick's students, re-reading his red book and meeting a relative of his, I looked forward to finally seeing what kind of golf facility they had deemed fit to name for him.

This could have been a nice place. When it was decided that a footgolf course should be sat down right on top of the golf course, it went downhill fast. On the three par 4's that are on the course, there are anywhere from 3 - 5 Foot golf holes on the same hole. When I got to the tee box and saw foot golfers ahead of me, it was a 20 minute wait to play the hole while they played the 4 or 5 they had to play to get off the fairway. The foot golfer's I witnessed had no regard for others or any marks they made on the green with their cleats while taking "shots".

Dont get me wrong, i think footgolf might be fun to try. But I KNOW that it shouldnt be on top of a real golf course.

My wife bought me an 18 hole round. I was so disgusted after 9 I left.

Never in my life have I been treated so poorly at a golf course.

We were handed the keys to our cart at 9:00 AM and told to head to the tee (our tee time was at 9:20). We did exactly that, teed off, and by the time we finished the first green, a marshal came up to us yelling that we had started early and were disrupting pace of play—which made no sense considering we are scratch golfers and there was no one behind us.

What followed was completely unacceptable. He aggressively shouted: “Grab your keys and follow me!!” When we responded with “excuse me?”, he escalated: “GRAB YOUR CART AND FOLLOW ME!!! YOU ARE NOT GOING TO THE NEXT HOLE.” We were then escorted back like we had done something wrong.

When we calmly asked him to stop speaking to us in that tone, it took nearly 10 minutes for him to offer anything close to an apology. Instead, he said: “I don’t know who you are or where you are from but this is not screaming. I am from NY.”

This was said to two people speaking Spanish, clearly from Mexico, which made the situation even more uncomfortable and disrespectful.

As for the course itself—3/10 at best. But honestly, the treatment alone is enough to make sure I never come back.

My wife and I came here for our first game of golf ever. The staff was beyond friendly and made us feel comfortable with playing even with our lack of experience. Rajai was amazing and guided us through the rules, etiquette, and flow of the game. Upon learning it was our first outing he gifted us a bucket of balls for the range and did nothing but encourage us to get out there. The course was in good shape and the layout was perfect for first time golfers even without a full bag. Will definitely be coming back.

Our experience this day was disappointing, because this course is normally our go to for a fun relaxing day. My girlfriend and I booked a tee time a week out, to make sure we had a spot for valentines day. There was a slight chance of ran on Tuesday. Then the rain forecast turned for the worse. We planned for rain and still arrived on time, assuming there would only be cancelations if there was lightning. We played the front nine with intermittent showers and ran across a few other players but no lightning. By the time we finished the front nine we were soggy and muddy and both split on if we should finish the back nine. So we went to the club house and asked if there were rain checks available and we were told that there aren't any because we showed up knowing what to expect. So we decided to continue playing as the only players left on the course. It wasn't until hole 11ish that we started to experience thunder, then came a few consistent lightning strikes too close for comfort. We packed it in and drove back to the club house, where we again inquired about a rain check for the back nine because of safety concerns. We were given the exact same callous response of we knew what to expect. The experience was frustrating and disappointing in a poorly managed situation because a city funded course had no concern for safety.

Worst golf experience! At this price point you can play so many better courses in Austin.

Great value! Super fun! Great practice. Par 30 course. All par s’s and par 4’s. Greens were in outstanding conditions! Tee boxes were in decent shape and the fairways were good. The range is far below average with both the grass and the turf being in horrendous condition. The chipping area is not worth warming up on but the putting area is in good shape. The course it self is 100% worth it and the location is great!

Awesome practice course for the price. Conditions are actually good for as cheap as it is to golf here.

Greens in excellent condition. Fun course. Staff helpful and friendly.

When you get there you can’t find the clubs house and the parking lot only holds 20 cars, the staff is rude and was raising their voice at me every time I talked to them. There is no cart paths all of the “cart paths” are dirt roads so get ready for everything you have to get dusty. Although it was cheap I would rather throw away my money then come back here.

This course is great for those starting out in golf or for those in a time crunch. It took our group of 4 an hour and 45 minutes to get through the 9 holes while walking.

Last time I played here we had cart rentals and the carts are in good condition. Overall this course is definitely worth the money.

Greens rolled well. 13 bucks is a fantastic deal to sneak out and play 9. 5 Par 3s and a few par 4s but enjoyed the layout.
