About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Golfer Reviews
Not the best course for the money
Went and played the course for the first time after scoring it on a Hot Deal for $32 and I don’t think it was even worth that unfortunately. The greens were very poor for the most part. We weren’t allowed on the range to warm up prior to the round. They 1st and 10th tee boxes were backed up 3 groups deep when we teed off and made the turn. I was expecting to see some of the bay being so close to the water but none of the holes have any great views of the water. I think you would be better off playing else where near Destin
Poor Conditions
The course was in very poor condition with many of the greens suffering from fungus and large bald spots and the course if a very dry and burned out status. I would save my money until they get conditions back under control.
Greens
This course is always a challenge and today the greens were the challenge, they need a lot of attention. There are a lot bare spots and what grass that was there was pretty shaggy and slow and bumpy.
Buy like the layout of the course and the staff are plesant and helpful. I have played this course for years and it is normally in much better condition and I sure they will be again soon.
Shalimar Point OK Golf
To be honest I thought course would be in better condition. Don’t get me wring I’m glad they’re open during the wuhan virus. But the course was disappointing in relation of what a great layout this course is. It’s a great layout that’s not being kept up very well. Slow greens and sparse fairway grass in many areas. Overall an ok round.
Best course played in FWB so far
Details says includes range balls, but range is members only. Not much of a practice putting or chipping green. Course was in pretty good shape. Nice fairways and greens. Interesting layout. My favorite course I’ve played in this area so far.
Greens were in terrible condition
Great course layout, played 2 or 3 time already this year. It will be some time before I play it again due to the fact that the greens were in absolutely terrible condition. I really hope it’s a temporary blip in maintenance standards as this course is a great layout.
I would advise reading recent reviews prior to booking. Crossing my fingers it gets back up to scratch!
Always enjoy playing here but today there were 3groups of 4 member players covering 4 holes and wouldn’t let others play through. Call before you play to make sure there aren’t members playing.
Challenging Golf Course
Shalimar Point is a good test of one’s game and is very well trapped to catch an errant shot. Greens are rough. Not much grass on them.
Served its Purpose.
After a 13 hour drive from Chicago (and 3 months of not golfing), this was the first course I played in the Destin area. Affordable rates, and few golfers, made this the perfect place to knock the frost off my swing.
The Good: Great layout. Lots of potential. Some tough holes (#17 got me good). Staff seemed nice and helpful.
The Bad: This place needs some love. Tee boxes are crowned. Spotty lies in the fairways. Maybe clear some trees. I did like the natural sand areas, though I'm not sure if those are intentional or not.
The greens were top dressed the day I played, but I paid the twilight rate so I didn't mind (they still rolled pretty well).
This course served as a great "tune up" for the rest of the golf I played in Destin. And for that, I do recommend this course. Thank you!
Friendly staff/Crappy course
Everyone was very friendly but we all agreed that If it were the last course on earth we would quit golf. Greens were horrible. Fairways had varying degrees of grass dirt and gravel and tee boxes were very unlevel. I feel sorry for the staff because I’m sure they are limited by funds but we were very disappointed
Greens are awful.
I will not be back to this course. The conditions of the golf course were not good. The greens were the worst I’ve ever played on.
Great Design
Of all the courses in the area, this course has a fabulous design. Each hole has its own character. Greens had been recently sanded so they were fast. Fairways will be greener as the weather warms
Very disappointed with the conditions of the greens. They were obviously in transition from winter to summer but I would have thought that information would be provided during the booking.
Mediocre course
About as much sand as grass on holes.
Greens fair, but lots of painted areas.
If looking for average course and trying to save money, this is the place.
Does have some nice and challenging holes.
