Enjoy the layout
Sandpiper has three 9 hole courses, the Oaks, the Palms, and the Lakes. I find the Oaks the most challenging of the three mostly due to the small size of the greens. This is a very playable course, it is generally well maintained, greens roll well and fairways are in good shape. It has a decent practice facility with free range balls. I enjoy playing this course, it is difficult enough to make you play good golf, but not so hard it destroys your confidence. It is an overall good value to play and I recommend it to my friends.
Good challenging golf course. Sand traps are a disaster, need repair/maintenance.
The sand traps are in need of proper drainage and maintenance. It appears that they have just let the sand traps go. They are not maintained. Good overall course except for the sand traps.
Course is good.......Starter was another story.
The course is good and a decent value. That said, .....last Thursday (6/13/13) we ran into a starter that was clearly not pleased to have "outsiders" from GolfNow on his course. He made us feel less than welcome and he made sure we waited to get started on a wide open golf course. You know, if you don't want to sell TT's to non-members to help pay the bills, just raise your members' dues and go private...... or hire staff that have a better attitude. This is the first time this has happened
to us on this course .......or any other for that matter.
Run Down
Platter sandpiper for the third time this weekend. The span of my three rounds there has been over the last 18 months or so and I have to say the course has been worse every time. After the last trip I said I wouldn't go back but recent positive reviews gave me hope that things were getting better not worse. Tee boxes were awful, the greens were so-so and the bunkers were shameful. The nature of a sun city center course is a short, shot makers course. I believe the tips played just over 6100, way shorter than what in used to but it's a nice change up. The starter upon arrival let us know that we were next on the tee and we could go any time. That was 25 minutes before our tee time. I wanted to warm up. I went to the range to hit a few and he gets on the loud speaker and calls my group before I had hit my fourth wedge shot, still 20 min before tee time. I sucked it up and got out there. I know this used to be a private course but it isn't anymore and if guests are treated with disdain they will stop coming. I stuck out like a sore thumb as the average age of a golfer is 75 and I'm in my late 20s. Avoid this course until they get their act together. No cart girl and no respect for non-members.
nice course
Nice course in good condition. Some challenging holes but overall not too difficult. A little over 6,000 yds. from the whites, but played a little shorter. Will play it again
Fun course for beginners
I am a beginner and found this course to be very fun. I have played much more difficult courses, but this course was still challenging for me. Most of the holes are fairly straight and the location of the hazards are not challenging, so experienced players may find the course a bit boring.
Excellent course - great condition
Great course, friendly staff, great condition. Great value. Not crowded. I would definitely recommend this course to anybody.
Super cource
This is a very challenging course with 27 holes. almost all greens are protected by bunkers and there is water in play in about half of the holes. All in all a Super cource for the money
Has 27 holes and free range balls with round
Nice layout , 27 holes , nice practice facility , good value with golf now prices, fairways and tee boxes are great shape, just plugged the greens I wouldn't play it for a few weeks until greens shape up
nice course very fair
this is a nice course the greens are great the fairways are good for this time of year practice facilities are exellent
The course is good value and reasonably challenging and is a definite to play.
This course is in good shape and has a good mix of hole types to challenge any game but still not overly hurtful if you make a bad shot.
SandPiper... calling me back
Truly a nice course! We played the Lakes and the Oaks (overall there are four 9 hole course options). In regard to the fairways they seem designed for the "common Joe" player a nice fairly wide open approach. The challenging and fun part was the placement of the bunkers and hazard areas - right where "common Joe" usually misses their shots!
Downside: the fairways were not very well maintained - lots of divots, grass was browned out in many small areas... they were not horrible fairways - playable - but they needed attention. Perhaps they should close down one 9 hole course at a time - and give it a week of full attention - allowing it to recuperate? The Greens - OMG - are incredibly gorgeous, tight and accurate - even the fringe was invitingly gorgeous - you wanted to cut it out and take it home!
I will return!
This Club Link course was a complete disappointment
Only rated this course a one star as zero star was not available. Course conditions were atrocious, burnt out with no definition between fairways and rough. Tee blocks were full of weeds. Sand traps were low quality. Very hard to believe that Club Link would be affiliated with such a course. No reception at bag drop Tried to get a refund after nine holes due to poor course conditions but club house staff was unwilling to cooperate. Our experience was not enjoyable. Would not recommend this course to anyone.
You get what you pay for.
Logged in late Friday night for primetime tee-time saturday morning. Paid $40 so you can do the math. Free range balls but no grass to hit off. Fairways & tee boxes have multiple grass and weed types. Most of it dead or dormant. Greens, surprisingly green from overseed but very slow. Starter was a crank who yelled at us beeing late. But there was no one around to hold up. Funny. Had to laugh. Clubhouse full of 80+ retiree's having lunch so forget about number 19.
Well worth the fee
Course is in great shape, sand traps are in good places and groomed nicely, greens are semi-fast and smooth, all three nines are a joy to play
Good course
The bunkers need some work and although the greens were good there were too many unrepaired ball marks.
Great condition and staff
Course was in perfect condition, greens were like playing on carpet. Loved the layout and the fact there were three nine hole courses and the starter directed us to course less busy. The only issue I had was the smaller dining area was closed on Sunday but that had nothing to do with the course...great time and will return.
Sandpiper Golf Club
Played this course yesterday for first time. Minor delays at tee off but staff allowed us to tee off at different nine. Course was in excellent condition. Greens were fantastic
Course in great shape.
Fast play and friendly staff. The greens were in excelent condition. Great experience.
