Not for walkers
Greens in good shape, tee boxes not so much. Course winding, difficult to follow. Couple or 3 more plays & I'll be moving on.
You get what you pay for
Golfing here is pretty cheap but you understand why when you are out on the course. Some of the tee boxes are in terrible condition and the greens were extremely bumpy. The cart paths were really confusing and make sure to bring plenty of balls because if you don't hit the fairway/green you are going to struggle to find your ball. With that said, any day on the golf course is a good day.
Glad I Played the Course, but unilkely to go again
This was a decently set up golf course, with beautiful fairways, thick rough, and well maintained greens.
The big issue I had was all the buzzing that was taking place due to the course being built directly under power lines.
Beer and food was priced fairly and overall it was a good experience.
Don't Pay Full Price
Good practice golf. The course is not well maintained. Bald spots and tee boxes so hard you can't insert a tee. The greens, however, have never been better. We paid $15 - seemed about right for the experience.
Narrow Fairways
For an executive course it is adequate. I enjoyed the challenge of the narrowness where they were reasonable not so much when they were not (No 8) Lost a couple balls but I knew that was the conditions I would face.
Very worthy and magnificent golf course
Besides very friendly staff and very nice cost, the course is very challenging and tests very well your skills. Precision and short game are tested as well as your driving. Wonderful golf course to enjoy and for training your short and putting. A lot of chances for hole in one, eagle and albatross and even a condor for long hitters. One down is maintenace of course and golf cart, some improvement is needed. If this is improved the course to be one of the best. Try you will have a lot of fun.
First experience on this course
As a first timer at Steel Canyon both my golf partner and I had difficulty knowing where the next hole was. We totally missed #3 and had to ask a maintenance employee to direct us to it. This was not the only hole that was not clearly marked. Also we were not told the majority of the greens had just been aerated. That was a huge disappointment. Our golf cart definitely needed a new front tire. Another suggestion would be to have trash bins near a few of the tees. However, the staff was absolutely wonderful and I will come back.
Needs a little maintenance but very price friendly
I play this course all the time and it can be hit or miss on the conditions. They aerated the greens about a week ago so putting is a little off right now. However that is not my main gripe. I found myself missing the fairway a little and the rough was very thick and near impossible to find balls that should not have been hard to find. I play this course because it is close to home and very price friendly with afternoon rounds around $16 so yo get what you pay for. Once they cut the roughs and the greens grow back in the course will be a lot better off. Give it a week or 2. All in all I like this course because if you are hitting straight you can score really well and it is a great course to get a quick cheap round in close to home.
Good but could be better
Based on the descriptions on their website I expected to see a well manicured course. However, upon playing the course I learned that they the greens seemed as though they had not been cut for longer than should have been. The fringes were much too high to find several of my 'not-so-bad' shots. I lost a handful of balls that in my opinion I should not have. I enjoyed playing the course for the value but as any golfer knows, especially when you haven't played in a while, any day on a bad course beats a bad day anyplace else. However, one of the things that could make a round unpleasant it would be unkept grounds. So my review here is intended to simple put the owners on notice that they need to take care of the grounds to improve the overall experience of playing at their course.
Interesting course for my first time playing.
The course layout was very interesting and nice views all around. Some holes that were elevated were great and the price is just right compared to other courses I have been too. The staff was excellent and I plan on going back many times.
Course review
The course was good for the first 9 holes but on the back 9 I had difficulties finding the tee boxes. The course done a poor job on marking the holes.
great exec. course
greens are holding approach shots, tee boxes have grass on them. fairways are growing in thick. marshall on course to keep things moving-- second time I have played the course in a month. I like this course and I will be back
value for what you'll pay
excellent shape , plays like a course in Scotland on a windy day, full of different elevations. greens superb, very few places that will mess up your putt. love it
Solid Par 62
Pretty good course conditions. Greens were nice although some rolled faster than the others. not crowded on weekdays.
Great golf value
The course is in good shape especially the greens. Always a good time playing the course with friends as an escape from work!
Great Little 18 hole course.
It was nice short 18 course. If maintained right, this course would be really nice to play a quick 18 on. for the golf now price i love it. But Not sure if I would pay more than $25 to play here. A couple of the tee position for the holes are questionable. But i had a good time playing there.
Steel Canyon tip
this course is a great value for the price. Remember to brush up on your short game for this course due to its short nature.
Bangin for Dollas
Honestly, $20 for 18 holes(mon-fri) on a course that has its challenges is in my opinion the best value in Atlanta area golf so far. Fairways require a semi-accurate drive on the par 4s and 5s in that you don't have that much space for recovery. That said, the undulating layout of the course provides its own challenges. I really like the extra short par 3s in that you're faced with trying to gap it up high and hope for a decent landing OR you can try and punch it just in front of the green for more accuracy; that is if you are good at putting backspin on the ball.
Great value for money
A great executive course to use your short clubs. A fair amount of water on the first nine but after that its plain sailing. Hole number eight use to be a very challenging hole but for the white tee players it has become boring. The discount obtained through Golfnow made it a great value for money outing. I will play there again. The tee boxes are full of spring weeds but they should die out as the temperatures increase.
Ranger
The course is a fun course to play, offers some degree of difficulty on some of the holes, but they really need a Ranger to patrol the course, to many delays waiting for others that do not understand Golf Etiquette and maintaining a pace.
