Smashing 9 holer
The course itself is situated about 20 minutes drive outside Belfast and easy to get to.
The course itself is a nicely laid out parkland course, no par 5s, but 7 par 4s and 2 par 3s. The course itself isn’t long, nice yardages for a mid to high handicapper. Par 4s are all less than 400 yards of the yellow tees. The course is well maintained and looks inviting to play, the greens though spiked (which the time of year is a given) rolled pretty well.
The other comment I would make is walking off the 9th to get back to the clubhouse is pretty steep and I’m of average fitness so be forewarned. Just having played the course once I would say the course has changed the layout. I would think the 5th would’ve been the 1st originally and to be honest if it wasn’t it should be, as it would make sense as you would end at the clubhouse.
Never got the opportunity to see the clubhouse due to covid restrictions.
As stated a lovely 9 holer, if you’re a low handicapper definitely not for you, for most golfers a nice test
Slow pace of play
Slow pace of play due to being a nine hole course, with golfers playing the first and back 9 at the same time . Inconsiderate 4 balls not allowing singles or 2 balls to play through. Also it's if golfers not replacing divots or fixing pitch marks.
slow pace
due to being a 9 hole course , the pace was slow on the back 9. Inconsiderate 4 balls not letting singles or 2 balls through
I need to update my Garmin
Beautiful 9 hole course with great views of County Down countryside. In good condition for the time of year. Pace of play good 18 holes in just over 3 hours. Only problem we had that club had rearranged the hole sequence as you now start on the old 6th tee. Penny dropped when couldn't get my Garmin yardage device to work on "1st tee" and had an unusually long uphill walk from "18th Green" to car park.
great course
well kept course, some tricky holes. Pace of play slowed on back 9 and others were starting off. Friendly staff
Very hilly
Not a good choice unless you're fit. It's very hilly but the benefit of that is that you get to enjoy some great views.
The course is very short, so most par 4 holes are a drive and a wedge for a decent golfer.
The 8th/17th is a great hole. The rest are so-so.
The food in the clubhouse is of a decent standard and good value.
OK 9 hole
We didn't know it only had 9 holes, played 18. by the time we got back to number 10 (hole 1) there was 3 four balls playing on the same hole. Back 9 was terribly slow with the over crowded holes so we decided to leave.
Classic temple golf
Excellent course and well maintained, staff are friendly too and food at restaurant delicious and not too pricey
Great challenging course
Think, this is 4th time I’ve played here, 1st this year. Me and friend had course entirely to ourselves. Found while course well presented. 9 holes but each hole has 2 tee boxes so plays slightly different on the 2nd lap, staff friendly and great value. Wish I lived closer and I’d play a lot more often.
Temple Golf club
Didn't like the course going in to get Cards there was trouble finding our booking even though we had a reference number.
Club entrance smelled of Stale Smoke which was very off putting From the off.
First tee was an experience most people would be quiet when you were teeing off but No not a chance members all chatting away to one another no more than 8 to 10 feet from tee boxes.
Tee boxes were a nitemare so uneven grass not cut to 1 length Oh and there was so much sand if I'd have had a bucket and spade could have built sand castles.
Greens weren't much better never played on poorer greens don't know why they ain't been cut.
4th hole there is a bell to let players know it's safe to tee off after you have played your 2nd shots had only just played my 2nd shot and ball landed 10 yards behind us complete nitemare plus they were in a buggie to which we had to let them through 1 hole later because they must have been playing Speed golf.
Certainly didn't enjoy the experience of playing Temple wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends Nor will we be returning.
Poor
Decent wee course!
Although short in length this is a testing course with some tricky holes. A nine hole course with alternating tee boxes. Would play again.
a hidden gem
the best nine hole course ive ever played, par 5,s apart it had the "big" course feel
