Frog Hollow Golf Club
About
Frog Hollow Golf Club in Middletown boasts the title of "best public golf course" in Delaware. The course has a links-style layout that is challenging but still player-friendly enough to appeal to beginners, seniors, and juniors. The layout is wide open and quite forgiving but there are still plenty of hazards with which to contend. There are more than 50 strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course. Their thoughtful placement makes up the bulk of the layout's challenges. There are ponds that come into play on six holes as well as tall native grasses that appear along the fairways and greens. The wind is often a factor on the course too and will test your accuracy even further. Frog Hollow Golf Club's par 3s and par 5s are manageable but the par 4s will test even the best players.

Green surface
The greens are not growing in nicely at all. Fairways and greens should be very nice about now . I hate to see what they will look like later in the season. Hole placements on most greens are punishing no matter where you land your ball.
Did I Just Catch It On a Bad Day?
I played here a month ago and the course was primed to be great heading into the season; however, this round was a little disappointing. Conditions were super firm. I know it hadn’t rained in a while but it was reminiscent to when they had their irrigation failure a few years back. The grass everywhere was less green than when I played in March, with crab grass and dead spots in some of the fairways. Nothing looked like it had been watered down all week. The rough was very short and wasn’t very plush (which is probably a good thing for recovery shots). Tee boxes starting to get lots of divots already. Greens were average. They are replacing the sand in bunkers which is good cause they needed them. I’d hate to dock this place, but it’s still early so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Love the layout and the affordability, so I will be back hoping things improve.

Above and Beyond
I play this course all the time and, frankly, the conditions were just average, but I'm giving them a pass on that since it's still early in the year and round and faiways need the chance to grow out.
But I'm giving them a top rating because the management could have chosen to be hard-cases about something but instead let the circumstances and good faith guide their decision. Far too many courses, as I've read here and elsewhere, don't seem to care about their patrons' feelings and blindly enforce rules. But in this case -- as is typical of the course management and one reason this is my favorite course in the area -- is that they chose now to ruin round because they care about their golfers.
I'm not going to go into detail because doing so would put management in a similar position in the future and that wouldn't return the goodwill they demonstrated. But I'm going to continue to recommend this course to everyone.
A great time outdoors.
Great conditions, friendly staff, well maintained golf course and enjoyable layout. What else could one ask for.
Keeping prices in check
With most places increasing fees as much as inflation has increased EVERYTHING, Frog hollow is now more attractive then ever.
Still a little rough around the edges. Some tee boxes were heavily sanded. Some fairways had bad patches here and there. Greens were solid and quick. Bunkers had all been worked on cense the last time I played.. even had a beverage cart out all day. .
I’ve been playing Frog a long time, and plan on playing 4-5 times this year. I recommend Frog Hollow to everyone .
Great Course, Great Value
We booked through TeeOff and paid only $34. A relative bargain. It's a great course and layout, at a great price. It's up there with Odessa and way better than Back Creek. I can't wait to go back.
Early spring
Might be early but the greens crew is way ahead of the other local courses
Just fabulous job
The starter and pro shop were spot on
But huge KUDOS to the greens crew
Pace of play
The pace of play was excellent. The staff gave a warm greeting and starter was very efficient.
First time out in spring of 2022
Course is great.
Some putts are tough but that will test you.
Like playing here and for the price it’s a good deal
