Deerfield Golf & Tennis Club
About
Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, Del., is a 145-acre public course, billed as a “natural treasure.” The 18-hole championship course gets the moniker thanks to its surroundings -- the ancient forest of White Clay Creek State Park. The 145-acre play, acquired by the state of Delaware in 2005, is a par-70, 6,323-yard golf course that features rolling terrain, smooth bent grass putting surfaces and scenic vistas. The mix of memorable, distinctive holes adds to the difficulty, as does the memorable, heavily wooded setting and dramatic elevation changes. Before or after your round at Deerfield Golf Club, enjoy the large putting green, full-service practice range, or lighted tennis and paddleball courts.

Deerfield CC
Crew and staff were Covid-careful and courteous. Course was in great shape- all in all, a wonderful Experience. Did not rate after round amenities because of current restrictions, but facility is beautiful.
Never had to wait
Played quickly about 3.5 hours. Greens run true but are fast, fast, fast. I seemed to be on wrong side on every hole. Fairways in great shape. Wish they would fix the Golfnow phone app.
No carts.
when I booked with GolfNow They said it was 18 holes with a cart when I got to the course. There was no cart. And no pull cards either.
Great staff, course meh.
The staff here is awesome. They were great and totally accommodating and very hygienic re COVID-19. I didn't love the course. It is nice to have hills on a course but there were a lot of severe hills, blind shots, etc. Course condition was okay but not great. Bunkers were flat out bad.
Deerfield Golf
I would love to play this course after the Covid 19 Virus is over.
Ear plugs please
Got there early. Course was empty.
Asked to go out as a solo. Denied. Paired with a non stop " I know this course better then anyone" talking person. Talked for 3.5 hours. He shot over 120 easy. Other then that bunkers were half n half. Half great, half horrible. Still winter. Can't wait for the season. Love the layout
Always a good Bang for your Buck
This course is well kept, very hilly and always seems to have that tee time open for the time you want when all else around are sold out.
Fantastic Course
This course is very challenging when considering the terrain of the course. I had a lot of fun playing this course. The course itself is in excellent shape and the staff working there are very professional and very friendly. This is one of my top 3 favorite courses to play in Delaware. I recommend playing this course if you have the chance, you will not be disappointed and will certainly get more then your money's worth.
Nice Winter Golf conditions
Been playing quite a bit this winter, all over the area, and Deerfield is in just as good or better shape than other “nicer” courses.
Always great staff, and enjoyed a fun round and good pace.
Good test of golf
Good layout and conditions considering it’s February. A bit slow and bar was closed but all in all good experience and we’ll be back.
Deerfield winter
Winter conditions but course was still fun and challenging. Staffing was great.
Bring your A game
Part of the slow pace was due to cart path only, but I see this as a constant problem due to the difficulty of the course. Blind tee shots, difficult hilly terrain and challenging greens. There are few places to miss many of the greens where you have an easy up and down. Having said all of that, I drove well over an hour to the site and the course exceeded my expectations. I look forward to playing Deerfield again.
Great to be playing golf with my 19 yo son on 12/31 Happy New Year!
Excellent experience.....service was exemplary!
Regards,
Ron
This course is still a GEM!
I first played the course many years ago when MBNA owned the course. Playing it now after two years. Loved everything about the course, especially the layout. Greens were a bit lumpy which is understandable.
