White Horse Golf Club
About
White Horse Golf Club has one of the toughest courses in the Northwest. Situated on the Kitsap Peninsula, the course is located just five minutes south of the Kingston ferry terminal. The course sits on the Puget Sound between the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, offering panoramic views on every hole. When the Suquamish Tribe bought the club in 2010, one of their top priorities was to make the course more playable. They enlisted John Harbottle for the job, a local architect who has designed several layouts throughout the state. By taking out nearly half of the bunkers, he opened up the greens and made them more approachable. He also widened the fairways and made the landing areas more generous. Since the update, White Horse Golf Club has become one of the most popular on the peninsula.

good time
from the time you drive up you will be inspired by the beauty of this golf course. it makes you think before you swing.
VERY CHALLENGING
IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE FAIRWAY THE ROUGH WILL MAKE IT HARD TO MAKE PAR. GREENS VERY SMOOTH BUT HARD TO READ.EVERY HOLE UNIQUE.
The greens are in great shape after being sanded. .
The new club house has a nice bar, dining area and patio that overlooks the 18th green and pond.
The parking lots are all paved ...no more gravel!
This course is almost a must for a cart as there are a few long walks on holes 3,7,8,9 and 15, but carts are per person.
Over all the course is in great shape!
Like I said the course is in great shape (Championship course) the green were just punched & the sand was a little too coarse!!! They needed to use a little finer sand so the put would still run true....
challenging and enjoyable
always a pleasure to play. greens had just been punched and sanded so putting was a bit rough but not too bad.
A challenging course with some very unique hole.
This course was quite fun, a little more challenging than most courses in Washington. Tree lined fairways that you will loose a few balls if your tee shots are not some what accurate. The shapes were very interesting, and we were quite often hitting blind and could not see the green from the tee-box, but they have a second scorecard with some great advice about where to hit each shot. Not a flat green out there either, lots of curve and break. They have a very nice driving range as well....GRASS! Yes, grass. I love that I get to warm up hitting off grass instead of the mats. Ill be going back this summer without question!
Very fun yet challenging course
Highly recommended to play.
Great course in wonderful condition.
Nice fairways, Challenging greens, Great cust service
And a great deal for the price.
Zzzzzzzzzz
Pace of play was agonizingly slow. 5 1/2 hour ...........with a 1220 tee time...
Awesome Golf Course!!
I was an assistant golf pro just after school and worked for top 100 public and private clubs. I have a tendancy to be a bit of a golf snob and huge critic of poor courses. This however is one of my top 5 public courses in the state. I live on Sno Ridge next to TPC and will drive out to Kingston anytime to play Whitehorse. What a golf course!!!!
How can it get better
The last time i played there, the club house was a trailer, now with a 50,000 plus club house marking where the next hole is , vastly improved, the greens were in awesome shape and tough to read. After a round of golf it is nice to sit and relax and enjoy a drink. a great job to the staff, and a very well done job. The parking lot was being prepared to be paved, i drove 15 miles one way to play, one of the guys i played with comes from across the pond from edmonds, wow. does it weekly.
Love this course. In pretty good shape even with the wet weather we've had.
Enjoy playing this course. More user friendly now than when first opened. Love the new clubhouse and grill. Food good, but will be awhile before the service is up to par because everything is so new.
Course is nice, management of the course, not so good!
Us and several other groups were made to wait one hour past our tee times because Whitehorse management allowed a group of approx. 28-32 people to tee off ahead of us. Our Golf Now tee times included carts, yet this group ahead of us took all the available carts. When a few other golfers started to complain, we were told that "the group ahead is not causing the delay, the lack of carts available is causing the delay."
The Whitehorse management caused the problem, did not offer anything for their screw-up (a free golf ball, a free drink, nothing).
A few of us asked for a free drink coupon, yet nobody would do the right thing, so we waited until 2:30 for a 1:30 tee time. Several people ended up walking, and were offered nothing back for going without a cart. With so many 'walkers' play was slow. Poor management.
The course is very well layed out
I've played the course twice before these new owners took over, the course was brand new and there were alot of things that needed attention. Now the course has a new clubhouse and the course is in great condition. Most of the drainage problems have been fixed and the greens are getting softer. Overall I would give the course high marks. Fun course to play but bring your "A" game. They are still in the process of completing some of the parking, landscaping and lighting of different areas but it won't be long and you'll be impressed!!!!!
Course is looking great for March!
Wow, the clubhouse is looking nice, the course was in very good condition, especially for March! Always a good challange, which makes a good score mean something, and today was a good day!
Fun, challenging course.
The course was "cart path only". The conditions seemed to warrant fairway driving.
It was one of the Largest Courses in our area. Pathways are in perfect shape, with wooden bridges to perfect, yet challenging fairways.
The course was in great shape for mid-March, the New club House was something to behold. The course is very challenging, yet holds the vast beauty of this area. Firm, non-raised, rolling greens offer great difficulty to the overall course. If you enjoy walking, it can be accomplished with minor effort, but I prefer using a cart, and slowly taking in the signs of nature readily available. I've only played here twice but had a great experience both times. This course has a tendency to raise one's average though.
One of the secret treasures on the Peninsula and should be played by every golfer seeking a challenge. Great staff and soon to open new clubhouse.
Course is in major transition with a new club house to open in March 2013 and some course renovation noted during these winter months. Grounds crew were working throughout course to keep it in great condition. Current operators have worked extensively on the greens which were hard and fast for the first half-decade from 2007; now in beautiful shape and holding. Course is always challenging, very playable, and bottom-line FUN. Good shots rewarded; bad shots penalized so accuracy is at a premium. Play it well and you will want to do a "moon-walk"; 19th hole will be important if you play it badly.
Leave your ego in the car, hit the best shots you can and enjoy the thrills and chills.
Three of us. A better-than-scratch pro playing from the tips, a 7 hcp "serious' muni player from the blues and me, a guy who doesn't keep score and plays for laughs. We're pals with completely different games. I played from forward tees because it was Feb. 1 and 45 degrees. Can all three of us enjoy this course?
The pro loved it. Lots of challenging approach shots and intimidating looks from the tee box.
Mr. Muni got his rump kicked. The green complexes are very well protected, and if you overswing from the tee (because you're playing too long a course) you will fail to land your tee shot in a good place, and be happy to save bogey. But you won't feel happy. More like you never had a chance.
Ah, but what if you play forward so you don't have to hit driver off the tee, and you can hit irons into the greens (a MUST -- long club approaches don't cut it here). Now its a blast. If you're a decent iron player.
The terrain and course design are both lovely. If scary approach shots are your kind of lovely. It was winter when we played so no judgments about the greens . . . they were holding well though and broke the way they read. But you gotta look closely.
Nice driving range.
New ownership (a monster clubhouse was being built when we were there) is going to make this course a definite destination for Guys Who Can Play. The new owners are a Casino, though, and if they start sending recreational players out, well, expect some 5-6 hour rounds.
The course was in excellent shape for this time of the year!
With constant rain in the PNW, this course was exceptionally dry and in great manicure condition.
I want to come back!
This course requires learning...so fun! Our group lost many balls so come prepared.
