Management Is Terrible
We came in from out of town and rented clubs. Our 3 wood was broken which we noticed on the first hole and brought the club back. We had not used it. The manager then immediately started yelling at us and charged us. Just absolutely horrible hospitality management.
Solid Course With Great Natural Surroundings
Solid public course not far from the city. Great views heading up. Feels like you’re further away from civilization than you are....if you’re in to that sort of thing. Definitely enjoy playing here.
Severely Overbooked
I love this course it is absolutely beautiful and challenging. The last several times I’ve played here the course is so cool overbooked you spend more time waiting than playing. Very frustrating.
Wide Open Play
No back ups at all. Course flow is outstanding.
Putting greens still have another week to shape up So be patient with your putting for now.
Tough course
Course is pretty nice. The rough is unmaintained and they leave all the cut up grass where they actually do mowe, so you will never find your ball. Hit some a couple feet off the fairway and couldn’t find them because of the layers of cut up grass just left there. Made the round super long and irritating and takes away from the fun of why you’re there in the first place. Very narrow and up and down. Tough course. Needed a lot of improvement though
not ready for play
overpriced for current course conditions, sloppy muddy and unmowed for what looks like a week, balls were dissapearing even on fairway shots. after 2 years of being a member of their players club they did not accept my players club card because of not booking through them directly which has never been an issue in the past. i get that its tough to mow when the course is wet and muddy but at least some warning before booking would be nice. and pace of play was terrible with no marshalls to help maintain pace.
Course was almost unplayable
I have played this course 100 times, and the condition of the course today was awful. Balls lost in the fairway in mud. Approach shots pluggin in the fringe. Greens uneven. I have played the course wet but today was the worst. Can’t really blame the course for the conditions, they can’t mow or do anything because drainage is so poor. They should have closed the course.
Definitely bring your game
Course isn't technically long on paper, but narrow and undulating fairways will make it seem that way. Extremely windy at times especially on the opening holes.
Greens are tough to read, expect 2-3 putts to be the norm if not within 5 feet
Trees galore
Many trees... tilted fairways a challenge. Up and down elevations need to be checked for proper club selectin. A few holes are blind tee shots... 3 or 4. Fairways/greens in great shape. Played on a Thursday.. 4 hour round.
Riader Trip
Played this course last 3 yrs up from So.Cal for R8r game. Best condition we played was this trip. Few watered down areas but otherwise excellent all around. Beat Gabe for 1st time with a 89.
Hilly, fun course for reasonable price.
I've played tilden a few times. It is a fun, hilly course with generally consistent, good weather. I recommend tee'ing off on the earlier side as the pace of play can slow a bit throughout the day. But, when you head out early the greens, and fairways can be a bit wet. The first few holes can even be slippery/muddy. The course is largely in good shape, but there are some fairways that are a bit chewed up. Greens are in good shape; they can hold long iron shots. As the course dries out, some greens can be quite fast, but overall, they're not particularly difficult.
The staff is nice, food is limited by good, and plenty of good beers/beverages available.
This past weekend, one of the groups tee'd off late so it created a bit of a logjam on the first two holes - the starter was encouraging us to hit our second shot while the group in front was still on the green... that was disappointing. Why rush? The pace of play cleared up/evened out, but it was pretty lame for them to push the pace because 1 group didn't have their act together.
Snnday slow golf
Everyone need to start somewhere but if you can't even hit the ball, please go to a range and not to a golf course. First tee, group in front had two players who flubbed three balls each. It took them four shots to get half way up the fariway ON THE FIRST HOLE. Why do they let total beginners out on a course like this if they can't even hit the ball? I quit at hole 13 after more than 4 hours of this crap. This is NOT a beginner course. If you can't hit the ball more than 20 yards find a range and practice, don't go to a course until you can at least hit the ball.
SLOOOOOW!!!
3 1/ HOURS TO PLAY 9 HOLES!!!!! NO MARSHAL IN SIGHT...
A tough one
This is a course that everyone should play at least once. Offers every obstacle that you could imagine except water. Well maintained with small greens and lots of elevation variations. Let's not forget the trees. A must course if you enjoy a challenge!!
Ignorant Staff
Good round good day good pace but before that we needed to check in. Women working behind the counter made no acknowledgement after several of my group entered and approached the counter. After 3 of 4 minutes I asked if she could help us, yes she said then went on looking at clubs for a few minutes. Are you the jones party, she asked. No I’d like to check in and get some range balls, I responded. She checked us in and we went on with are day. Guessshe was having a bad day already at 6:30am. Hope her day got better though I could have done without the rude behavior. Maybe her manager can provide some basic training for how to act while working in a service industry, like saying things like hello, I’ll be with you in a minute, how can I help you, etc.
