The only probelm was the greens. They are usually in better condition.
The only problem was the greens. They are usually in better condition.
The Flatest Hills Course Iv'e ever played
It's funny I only remember one hill on this one. it starts on hole 4 You reach the top on hole 6. Turn around by hole 9 you are done. The backside is flat. Ok It can be tight if you are not accurate off of the tee. Greens are in good shape. plenty of bunkers (dirt not sand). Good practice facility. Great rates
Much Improved
Booked an 8:30 tee time this past Sunday to beat the 100 degree + heat and to catch the afternoon football games. Arrived and found they had backed up everyone's tee times an hour due to a group of 20 golfers showing up on the wrong day for their golf outing. The staff did offer a free hotdog, drink and bucket of balls for those that wanted to wait the extra hour. Problem was, when my tee time rolled around, they wanted to send me out with a group of four ( me making it 5) to an already severely stacked up course. Makes no sense that you alienate your regular customers to accommodate a group that shows up on the wrong date.
great course for 20$
For 20$ this is a great value. the greens were in pretty good shape.. i'll definitely go back for this price
The greens
Maybe because of the hot weather, but the greens were not in good condition. Some of them were burnt and a lot of them were bumpy.
This course is well maintained, challenging, and has very nice features.
Great course. Well maintained and friendly atmosphere. Excellent value. Will play again and again.
Not bad for the $$
This course is close to home so getting in a game after work and before it gets dark is perfect. If you can handle the freeway noise and the trains this course isnt so bad but it has improved my game under pressure and distractions.
LOUD, very LOUD!
Semi's on their Jake brake on the freeway next to you. Freight trains going by right next to the tee box. Not a good place to play if you don't like noise distractions. The course has some tight fairways and if you get in the trees you can get in a lot of trouble. Well maintained course for a municipal course. Greens were soft and slow. Too noisy for me.
Very good value
The course was in good shape ,the greens were very good and the pace of play was good .
One of the best Public Courses you will find
8/15/13-6:52am - Booked a twosome, a single was placed with us. The pro shop people are always very friendly and accommodating. A twosome was ahead of the foursome we followed. At times, we had to wait for the twosome to leave the green before the foursome could play to it, but it really wasn't that bad. We had a good time, and time was not an issue. The fairways are in great maintained condition. The regular players, probably locals, do not do a good job of repairing divots. Some people... Yes, there are a few somewhat bare spots - but, it's August. The rough must be avoided, or you'll add strokes. And the trees are a challenge. Hit out to the fairway - I warn you. The course, overall borders on "challenging." The greens are impeccable. It's too bad that the regular players do not always repair their ball marks. The snack bar serves great food, their coffee is delish, and the cost is not exorbitant. The beverage cart girl makes rounds so that you will see her at least two times. Not normal for a public course. Totally wonderful experience. Course is easily accessible from I-10 to 210.
A fun, but narrow course with small greens
The course is not too long, nor too short. Most of the holes are narrow, and most greens are small. The front nine has uphill and downhill holes, and the back nine is pretty flat. The course does not have any special features that stand out, but it is maintained well for the price.
You Get What You Pay For...
First off, we had a tee time of 4:00 on a Saturday. So rates were $15 for 18 holes and a cart.
The Good:
The price is definitely lower than many other courses. That's about it...
The Bad:
Not many cart paths. So you end up having to drive on the fairways. The bad part is that the landscaping is very bumpy and there are leaves everywhere. I felt like I need to see a chiro after driving the course. The course is next to the freeway, a dried up hill, and a set of train tracks. The trees all looked dead and the overall setting isn't relaxing. Don't come to this place for the view/relaxing atmosphere. The course is also very tight and the layout forces you to wait not only for the people in front of you but to all sides before you feel you can safely take your next shot without endangering someone else. You end up waiting for people to move while they are 3 holes ahead of you causing a very slow pace of play. There were also many golfers that walked the course causing it to be an even slower pace if you had a cart. Lastly, the driving range nets NEED TO BE HIGHER. MY FIANCÉ AND I BOTH GOT HIT WITH A GOLF BALL FROM THE RANGE. And it wasn't two balls that went over. We felt like we were in danger and skipped the hole we were on. If someone from the range hooks it right, it's going to where the tee is on the hole.
Overall, you get why you pay for. I most likely wont come here again. By the 18 th hole, I didn't even want to stick around. It is definitely a course that will improve your game under pressure but don't come out to relax.
the course looked good
the course was in good shape the staff was nice the price was awesome on golf now
Course featrures are outstanding
Course is well maintained, great value, equipment is in outstanding condition.
Work in progress
This is the first time I played this course so I had no idea what to expect. My 10 yr old son and I had a 350 tee time and once we checked in, we were golfing. The pace was pretty good and only backed up for a bit around the 6,7,8 holes. Although the course had several areas of repair on the fairways, it was obvious that the course is on its way to being prestine. The greens were in good shape and played smooth. I look forward to going back and playing as the greens fees are a great local bargain for a round of golf and a cart. I'm sure it'll rate higher if they finish what they're already working on. The course presented a large mix of long and straight holes with elevation changes and bends on others.
Nicely designed course. well maintained.
First time playing this course. Found it definitely challenged my skill level, and then some. I made numerous friends with the bunkers. were on a first name basis. Had fun. Will definitely play this location again.
They even have a beverage cart working on Monday !!
The course is very well maintained with the fairways in very nice condition while some of the greens were a bit "bumpy". The only downside, and the reason for the over 4 hour round, was having to play behind a foursome who thought every putt was for a million dollars. Perhaps having a marshal on the course could have stepped up the pace.
course is in good shape
Shandin Hills is a good fair track. The 15th hole is decieving long the greens are nice but a little slow probably due to heat measures in mowing. One thing I notice everytime I play there is some players do not rake the bunkers. There should be strong notification about what the rakes are for.
Had a good time
Challenging course. Locations of bunkers and narrow fairways makes this a very challenging course. But I had fun trying to figure out which clubs and what shot to play. GREAT!
