No frills golf
Course was in so so shape, not too bad and not too good. Greens could use some help but not too bad, fairways were manageable. This is a mature course, lots of trees and wide fairways. Fun course to play. Staff is friendly but sparse. BYOB on weekdays.
Terrible Greens
The amount they charge at this course compare to the nearby courses this one is not work the money. If I was paying $20 bucks then I could understand, but the greens have patches of sand, dead/dried spots, and WEEDs. Felt like I was putting in a sandbox. If invest money into the fairways and greens then you would have a nice course, but never going back.
Poor greens and fairw
The course is in very poor condition. The greens are currently terrible, lots of divots. The grass looks like it hasn’t been mowed in weeks. I was there a year ago and the course was in way better condition. Hopefully they can fix it. Definitely not worth a $64
Fire the Winns
Shandin Hills condition is because of two individuals Ferial and Mike Winn. They need to be removed from management of Shandin Hills.
The greens have weeds because the Winns took Louis the head grounds keeper to Arrowhead. These two individuals also took Shandin Hills golf equipment. They fired a man Dominic for speaking up.
The clubhouse is falling down and could injure or kill incident people visiting this course if a earth quake was to occur. See attached photos of the structure. The upstairs has already been tagged and shut down yet the building is open . The new GM Derek needs to be able to take over and do what needs to be done but his hands are tied by the Winns.
It's obvious Shandin Hills is a money grab for the Winns. The bugs are terrible you could get west nile but they care not to do aerial spraying. They don't care about the public or the golf course just collecting a check.

Greens
I’ve played Shandin Hills for many years (even during aerification). The greens were not in great shape and made play difficult. The staff is always great and the pace of play was good.
Greens were bad
If the greens are in bad condition the price needs to be WAY cheaper.
Poor course management
We couldn’t believe the conditions of all of the greens!!
And to make it worse is that they charged us full price for that garbage I’m sorry but I’m not going back there anytime soon!!
What happen to the greens???
The course let the greens die and they are terrible. It will take at least 6 months before the greens are acceptable. There is sand on almost every green, weeds, and they are nearly impossible to make a putt from over three feet.
worst greens I've ever played
the greens are terrible. not worth playing this course. they should be discounting round for how back the greens are. this place used to be in good shape. it's going to take them months to get those greens back in shape.
What happen to this gem
Was in good shape month ago but condition of course drop so bad.. None of the green are smooth all weed & sand. Too wet on the fairway & weed on every tee box. Only price drop a tiny and more tee times available.
Best Value in town
ok so the greens are a bit shoddy, but that doesn't really takeaway from the rest of the course being in pretty decent shape. You still gotta hit your shots and be in play. It's was worth the 1/2 hour drive to play for a very reasonable price.
Nice weather but condition is down down down
It was a perfect course before the price but the price go up up up and condition of course is down down down.
Almost all the green are sanded(a lot), and bumpy all around the green.
The bunker has a lot of rocks in it, that will damage your wedge if you tried.
Conditions
This course used to be the best course to play for the price in the IE but within a couple of weeks of not playing here this course fell off bad, conditions were the worst I’ve ever seen a course in the IE. Rough was maybe 4 inches tall, fairways weren’t awful but the greens? Jesus Christ every hole had weeds and divots every where it was impossible to have a smooth putt, everything was jumping as it rolls, course honestly looks like the maintenance crew quit for 2 weeks straight, please get this course right again.
I've played on this course twice. The first time, the pace of play was good, but the greens were in poor condition. Overall, the condition of the course is just not the best. This second time around, my buddy and I were a little annoyed because they had several groups start their rounds both in front and behind us after we had already started. I’m assuming these were members but I'm not 100% sure. Additionally, the back 9 was closed for aeration without any prior notification. At our other course that we go to, they inform us in advance and offer fee discounts when they do aeration. If we had been aware of these issues beforehand, we would’ve just gone to another course.
