Course is in good shape. Nice layout with the exception of 17, seems a little unfinished. Pace of play on back nine was horrendous. Three hours on back nine due to twosomes. Need a ranger encouraging people to keep things moving. Beautiful day for golf though.

I like the layout of the course but the tee box's were in very bad shape and look like Fairways need overseeding Bunker's need to be destroyed the are very bad I do believe they are on the rite path

Would be all 5 stars if the sand traps were worked on. Very friendly staff, great food, nice atmosphere, great course. Doing a lot of improvements that will make it 5 stars ✨ in all the books. Don't wait to join this club.

Playing this early in the year I expected the brown conditions on the fairways, what I didn't expect was the speed and pin placements on almost all the greens. All greens were covered with a green substance that looked good but was not good for holding any shots. The greens here are sloped, it is Tennessee, but the coating made the greens extremely fast and the pins seemed to be placed on the crest of a hill. I asked the starter for advice on putting, he said stay below the hole, but a shot into the upslope would roll off the front or one carried to the top would keep going. I did place this course in September and the greens were much more playable.

As a result of the design involving the cart path, when "cart path only", a real bear to walk. The paths are often above the fairway. Think twice if it's been raining!

Arrived early to check in and find club house golf shop has been moved to front of building. Hit a few putts and drove up to starter before first tee where we were asked to present receipt and sign and print on clipboard. Questioned starter about course conditions and was informed sand bunkers were in bad shape (mostly dirt with rock in them) and most people were laying out of the sand traps. Was informed we were early for our tee time, but no one was in front of us, so we were allowed to tee off early. Golf course played difficult on long par fours, greens were in good shape and held well, tee boxes and fairways were good, cart paths need some work. Also had a major water leak on hole #11 near tee box and had the remains of a golf cart that had burned to the ground (never saw anything like that before). Overall a good deal thanks to Golf Now, but would not want to pay full price for current conditions.

It was the 2nd time in 3 days i played this course.It was close to Hotel i was staying at for business. The people were very friendly and helpful .The course is getting ready for some major changes under new owners.especially the bunkers. course was still in pretty good condition.

I always love playing this course. The course was a little dry, but considering we have had a very dry summer it was in excellent condition. It is a challenging course with lits of sand and very challenging greens, but I would make this my regular course if I could.

I have played this course hundreds of times. Before the new owner bought it last fall, Avalon was in rough shape. The new owner has improved the fairways, the greens, the clubhouse, the food, and the overall experience. The bunkers remain a weakness but plans are in place to address this concern. The layout is superb and offers big greens and design subtleties than require thoughtful shot selection. A truely enjoyable course!

I've always heard what a great layout it was but had been weary to give it a try because of condition reports. Well fear not my friends, this course is on its way back up! You will not be disappointed! Is it perfect, well no. But I can promise you that it is money well spent and worth the time to stop and play!

Course is in great shape, bunkers need work but I understand that to be in process as new owners are improving the course as quickly as it can be done and remain open. I will definitely be playing again. They are very structured so don't be put off by someone asking you a question a little abruptly.

Note to management, tell your employees that a friendly demeanor is always critical. They were all nice just the one asking me about my cart was a little short.

I just hosted a tournament at Avalon. The staff was excellent, the food was very good. They smoke their meat on site. My clients had a great time.

New owner is putting in a lot of upgrades and maintenance of course has improved tremendously.

This is a great golf course. It is under new management, and they are working hard to improve it. The bunkers are being rebuilt over the Winter. I would love to play this course again.

Having played Avalon, 3 times in the last six weeks means it's a course that I love visiting. 2 years ago this course was being run in to the ground, but since new owners have taken it over, they have done a remarkable turnaround. The fairways are lush, the ball sits up invitingly to be hit. The greens are also in very good condition, apart from #6, where the greens doesn't get enough sun. The tee boxes are also in good condition, barring a couple that needs a little work on. The one thing that lets this course down, are the sand traps. Very little sand, but plenty of stones & rocks. We play to the side of the bunkers, rather than risk breaking a club. The management know about the traps, & they are addressing the problem!

Overall, if you are looking to play here for the first time, treat yourself, you won't be disappointed. Also, if you play midweek, you will play 18 holes in less than four hours.

I've played this course many times as it's in a neighborhood near me. I like the layout but it often gets "burned out" by mid summer with very lean fairways. It was in great shape mid June with the exception of the bunkers. Sometimes unplayable for the thousands of pebbles in the sand. The staff reported that the new owner (2016) is redoing all bunkers this year. Overall, this is a great course and every hole is different and interesting.

The new owners have obviously put forth great effort and expense to return this once great course to its former glory. The fairways are well manicured and the ball always has a good lie. The roughs are not very deep, but fairly easy from which to play. The greens are grass covered once again and rolling at a medium/quick pace. They are very undulated and roll true. The bunkers have not been dealt with yet, but assured to be done soon.

The staff was a real surprise. I was met at my car with a cart and a friendly smile and that treatment continued in the clubhouse, the starter, the beverage cart, the crews working on the course and the 19th hole. I was pleased to see customer service and delighted to see my favorite course returning to life.
