Solid Public Course
Course is always in good shape, with a lot of unique and challenging holes.
Greens are excellent with very challenging pin placements. Very good value for the price.
The course has some challenging holes
This course was in great condition. It is a fun course for golfers or all levels. More challenging for a novice player.
Great course, great shape......
The only thing was they had aerated so the greens were real rough.
Poorly maintained for the price
Played course for 1st time on 9/1/13. Will never play here again. The greens were pock marked with unrepaired divots everywhere and many appeared to be diseased. The tees were infested with crabgrass and the fairways were bare in spots and generally in poor condition. The rough was very deep and many of the bunkers had grass growing in them! There are many nicer courses in East Tennessee for a lot cheaper. My advice: try any of the Tellico Village Courses, rarity bay or Wind River.
Play it again
Great course and value. Only problem is the bunkers have too any rocks. Solution is to avoid them.
COURSE NEEDS ATTENTION
TRAPS ARE FULL OF ROCKS, VERY LITTLE SAND
FAIRWAYS ARE AVERAGE
SOME OF THE GREENS NEED ATTENTION
WOULD NOT PAY MORE THEN $25.00 TO PLAY
Outstandingq
outstanding course with challenges on every hole. Course condition is top rate.
Not a stroll through the park
This is a very challenging course. Somewhat narrow fairways and speedier than average greens make this course a bit too difficult for less experienced players. The rough is quite lush, thick, and long. We drove into the rough and it took ten minutes to find the ball, and then another five minutes to find the cart! Stay out of the rough. The cost is upper end, in fact somewhat inflated beyond comparable courses in the area.
Enjoyed course, but Greens and sand bunkers need work. Sand bunkers full of rocks.
Interesting course, could be better if greens were in better shape. Told by staff not a good idea to play sand bunkers because they were full of rocks. Good driving fairways that require long drives, difficult for those who do not drive long. Road noise disturbing.
Over all it was a great course.
This is a fun but yet a challenging course. Hills, some wide fairways, water and plenty of sand trips. This was/is a well laid out course. Play with a friend I have not seen in years and he enjoyed just as much. We will be golfing here again.
Great course
Staff very nice...greens were great...well mowed and mantained. A good course for any level golfer. Course is very pricey unless you get a deal, regular fees are $59.00 which is ok for weekends but weekdays should be around $40-$45.
Lots of variety in the holes.
Good course in good condition and the greens are maintained well and are speedy.
Some very challenging and unique holes very good shape
I love when I get a chance to head out to Avalon it is a great course from 1-18
Avalon Golf Course,Knoxville, TN review
The Avalon course is challenging. The course has thick rough and many hills. Need to keep the ball in play. The eighteenth hole is a great final par five that will give up a par with a good drive and second shot (3 wood for me). From there it is a eight or nine iron over the water to a tricky green..
Very nice course that requires some local knowledge.
This course is fun to play and beautiful. When I arrived, I was greeted at my car and given my cart. The staff in the pro shop and the starter were very nice. Warm up balls cost extra (get them). The course is very hilly so you are presented with lots of uneven lies. Be sure to bring your GPS unit since the course markings are hard to find. It helps if you get to play with someone who knows the course since a little local knowledge will go a long way. If you use the appropriate tees, you will be rewarded with an enjoyable round on a very pretty course. Our round took four hours. Sweet.
The course has good balance
It had been about 7 years since last played Avalon and was pleasantly surprised to find it has matured nicely. A very playable layout with challenging greens. Play could be assisted with more and accurate yardage markers. Overall very enjoyable round.
Awesome views & course too
Great course with undulating greens! First hole is a bit intimidating and every hole fits perfectly to the landscape. Big greens with many slopes. I would play this course again in a heartbeat!
Fast greens.
I have played this course about 6 times now. The greens are large, undulating, and fast if you are above the hole. It is a challenge, but fair if you place the ball in the right area of the green. The pin placements are well marked on the scorecard.I would recommend playing this course if you are in the Knoxville area. Ken.
Beautiful setting with Augusta-like greens
Avalon is nestled in a picture perfect setting with gorgeous homes surrounding the course. Lots of elevation changes and some great views of the Smokies and just a couple of holes that border Interstate 75. Great job of providing scorecard and a detailed map/lLayout of the course. Golfers should know that the greens are not for the faint of heart or the begining golfer. A three putt lurks on every green and make the round that much more enjoyable and challenging! The course is in good shape but the fairways were a bit thin. Avalon is a real test of golf skill from tee to green and you leave wanting to play it again.
Beautiful Course
Beautiful course for a great price. Fairways were not fully green yet due to the time of the year. But this course is beautiful.
