Excellent winter course,

Excellent winter course, greens are great but time to grow a little more grass on the fairways. Price is on point, best course in the south end for $12

Beautiful day, nice walk, but

Course is dry and about as fast as it in summer. However, ball still gets mud on it occasionally even when landing in fairways. The turf in the fairways is in the worst shape (sparse in many places) I've seen it in in three seasons. It took 4.5 hours to play a round when you can play this course on your own in under three hours. Greens are in good condition but are firm and hard and do not hold an inbound shot very well. I've played the Links (which is generally a wet course) and the Home Course in the two days before playing Capitol City and both where in better shape. I hope they are able to get control of the fairways and soften up the greens soon because this is one of my favorite places to play.

Very disappointed

Called ahead for an assessment of the course conditions. Was told that the course was in great shape and that the ball bounces in the fairways. Not reality, unless the ball was hit with a low trajectory, then it would sort of tumble a few feet. After each shot, the ball was covered in black, sticky mud (except when the ball reached the greens). The course had so much mud coming up through the grass that it packed up on our push carts' wheels by a quarter inch or more and on our shoes to the point where no cleats were visible! We spent way too much time clearing mud from everything. The only saving grace are their greens and the maintenance of their bunkers. The greens were healthy, received the ball well and had a decent pace. One other thing to note: the fairway grass was very sparse and had not been mown in quite some time. A good portion of the course looks like tufts of grass trying to grow through the thick mud. Probably a ratio of 60% grass to 40% mud.
I actually really like the course layout and think that it is a true championship style track (if the course conditions improved). My main disappointment stems from their website claim of "Western Washington's Driest Winter Course! " It's not. Only average, at best.

No better greens in Washington state!

Capital City is an excellent course. As always, the greens were in perfect shape. The fairways were also in good shape; the areas off the fairway were a little dry. Its a challenging course but if you can keep it on the fairway and out of the trees and the sand traps, you will be rewarded. In the rainy season when other courses have puddled water everywhere, Capital City will be dry/well drained.

Great little course with great value

This was the first time for me playing the course. I was impressed by the condition. The greens were true and in excellent condition. The course was easy to navigate through. Did not matter that holes were not long because we all know that the real game is 150 yards and in:)

Excellent course all around

Have not played this course in prolly 7 years, went out and played at 1pm on a Sunday and finished 18 walking in 3 hours with another guy. Greens were true and consistent and the fairways and tee boxes were excellent. I am excited to play this course again soon.

Cap City....its officially my home course now.

I've been in the area for about 8 months and live only 6 blocks from Tumwater GC, but I can truly say CapCity is my golf course of choice. Of the service guys ZACH is the DA MAN, Always greets with a smile and can do attitude. Even the Marshall's doing what they can to speed up play helps as well. It is truly the driest course in the Olympia/Tumwater area The course is always in pristine condition. Hats off to the groundskeepers, wait staff at Fire Creek, and overall management..

Capital city is in great shape

I play capital city golf course about 7 times per year and this was the best shape I have ever seen the course. It is always pretty cheap to play but with the condition and the cost low, I will be back again soon.

Surprisingly Bad

This course was really disapointing, I'd never golfed here and had heard it was pretty nice. I had a 5 pm tee time with a cart included and showed up a half hour early to be told Billy the cart boy was gone for the day so you can't take one of the 10 carts sitting out here. As a "big favor" the pro shop guy let us take a cart. We went to hit practice balls and there were about 10 guys on the practice green yelling obsenities and drinking. After watching a "dog pile" on the green of 5 guys piling on top of each other and 2 getting into a drunken wrestling match we decided to just go play. The course itself is really not very good. Several holes but up to busy streets and have you driving your golf cart through neighborhoods looking for signs for the next hole. The fairways are so hard you litteraly cannot make a divot. When you're not butted up to a road you are between a bunch of 70's houses with barking dogs. The people on the course are not much better than the course - cutoff jeans with a tank top is perfectly acceptable here. We were waiting at every hole for the single golfer in front of us and had 3 drunks behind us hitting at us the entire round. There was not a single marshall anywhere on the court. Random people were just walking through the course - I nearly hit one I didn't see. Overall the least relaxing, worst fairways, and poorest controlled course I've ever played.

Great place for all levels

This course is great for beginners as well as those who shot scratch. Course has great drainage which is a most for this state. Easy course for walkers, you won't break an ankle. Great place to spend the day.

Fast Greens

Really nice municipal course that was in excellent condition. Easy to walk course but challenging as most of the holes are tree lined. Greens were in excellent shape and very fast. (12 on the Stimpmeter). The ambassador (Marshal) kept things moving. Really good course to play for all golfing types.

Rude players and rude staff

Used pull carts for our clubs. Played with a scratch golfer that was giving me lessons (from the black tees). On a couple holes we drove provisional balls but didn't play them when we found our first shots. Had 2 other guys behind us playing from the white tees constantly shooting into us. Almost hit us a couple of times. Then on the 15th hole we had a lady jump onto our next hole and flat out told us "I'm going to go ahead of you. Don't worry you won't even see me again". The guy I played with told her she can't just cut in front of us and that he was going to call the pro shop to report her. We had to wait for her to hit 3 shots before we could tee off. When we finished (in 3 1/2 hours!) the guy in the pro shop came out and told us we had held people up and that we're supposed to let people play through especially when "you play 2 balls". I didn't know shooting a provisional ball now and then counted as playing "2 balls". We told him about having to wait for the lady that cut in front of us and he told us it was our fault because we were playing 2 balls. I told him it was nice to meet him and that I won't be returning to this facility and neither will my freind.
