Good course with low traffic
I live 5 minutes from this course. I do not play here frequent since I work in the Seattle area. I play here occasionally and I think it is a very nice course that's been maintained very well. They recently re-hauled the fairway drainage system so it's pretty good during the raining season. In the winter, they cover the greens so no frost delays and the green stays nice, very smart. I wish all the golf courses in the region cover their greens overnight when temps drops. The course is not very difficult but tricky if you are not familiar with the layout. There are several OBs and houses along the fairways which is the biggest negative for me. But overall a great value.
Value outstanding. .
We drove from Edmonds Washington and Portland Oregon to play the course. During the round we had 2 inches of rain and the wind was whistling. The fairways were perfect and the greens fast. The water collected in the sand traps but we stayed out except once. We were wet so it didn't matter if we got wetter, so we hit it out anyway. The rest of the course drained well and with the massive rain, the other shots were near normal.
I will make the two hour drive again before the winter ends....
Good course. Great wet weather play.
Well kept course with good value. Great restaurant and bar attached to pro shop.
Fun course for sure
As far as courses go, this one is a great average course. Tight play but opens up a few times to let you feel like you can really let loose with your driver. Nothing too complicated and using the golfnow app, really became the very best bang for our buck in our area.
Good value. good condition, good pace of play
Fun course in great condition. Pace of play was excellent, no long waits on the tee box, Pro Shop and snack bar staff friendly.
Great intermediate player course.
The course fairways and greens were firm which allowed for nice roll out on drives and smooth putting. The greens did hold well to a high wedge with spin. Each hole is well defined by being lined with mature evergreens and bunkers were fairly place with good sand. 18th fairway has great view of Mount Rainier.
A real treat
I used to play Capital City a lot -- that was 25+ years ago. Now that I have returned to the Northwest I wanted to play there again. All those little staked trees that used to annoy us are now 30-40' tall and really define a well laid out course. The trees also add to the difficulty. The turf was in excellent condition and the greens much better (smooth, consistent) than I would have expected on a daily-fee course. This was a treat that I look forward to repeating soon.
This course was fun to play.
We had a great time playing a course that was fair to all of our handicaps.
Pace of play was acceptable. The course was a great value for the time we played.
It was the first time I played the course. How I rate is if I want to come and play again.
This course certainly has my attention now that I gone around once. Looking forward to giving it another go.
Always consistent and dry...
It's been a dry summer and the ball carries on this course. The greens are in great shape with the balls rolling true and they have some pace. I got out before 4, because after that it can be slow play for the rest of the evening. It's also a very easy course to walk.
wide fairways. good greens.
Driving range, practice bunker, putting green. Everything you need to work on your game. Not a difficult course with wide fairways on short par 5s but kept good condition. Only complaint is the bunkers, some are more dirt than sand.
Great value and course
I love this course. It is a great value. Usually can get on for less than $18.00. The course can get backed up but I've also finished 18 in less then 2.5 hours. The pro shop are great guys. Will do whatever they can to get you on.
It was very well maintained. Lots of trees.
We enjoyed this course, There are four of us with variable amounts of skill. The big hitters may find the trees if they are not straight shooters. The fairways and greens were great. The speed of play was good. Great value for the money!
Best shape in 30 years!
I've played his course for the last 30 years and it is in the best shape ever. The greens are true and moderately fast. Very fair and in excellent shape. Course has always been known as the best winter course around. New improvements make it the best course period (within the moderate price range). Pace of play can be slow at times ("while we're young" campaign needed). Clubhouse is decent and staff are extremely good. A gem and a fabulous value.
Excellent
I had a business meeting in Tacoma, so I made a reservation through GolfNow and went to Capital City on my way to Tacoma. I didn't have very much expectations, but it was a really nice course and I really enjoyed my time there. I am really glad I found this on GolfNow.
Easy or challenge
This course has beautiful tree line and not easy to loss ball. You can choose white or yellow as easy condition or choose black as challenge condition. Great view during playing. Great course staffs.
Best value in town
Course was in good shape, greens rolling very good. Price was unbeatable, will definately book here again.
The greens were great, quick and rolled true.
The course is in the best shape I've ever seen. The greens are running at about 11 or 12. The fairways and rough and mowed even. Unfortunately the kid working seemed disinterested and took about five minutes before acknowledging that I was waiting to pay, despite the fact that I was the only guy I the shop. The rate was incredible, $11 off golfnow.com
