Pacific Northwest and no raincheck..
I had never played Capitol City before and played on a spur of the moment thing. The course was in decent shape and greens were better than I expected. Unfortunately, the weather changed and started raining by hole 5. We sludged along and were drenched by the turn. We decided to ask for a raincheck. The guy in the pro shop stated, " It's the Pacific Northwest, rain is part of golf, we don't give rainchecks..." Yes, I'm a fairweather golfer, I choose not to play in rain. We decided to call it a round. Due to the attitude of the pro shop, I will not play or recommend Capitol City to any of my friends. If it's not worth 15 bucks to the course to give me a re-do, they won't get my business in the future.
Capitol City
I have played here a few times now in the past 3 years. The greens are always in great shape. I played as a single, and passed one 4 some on #8. Never caught anyone else the rest of the day, and finished in 2 1/2 hours. I like this course, I just wish I lived closer.
Very nice course
Very nice course, what you would expect at fancy private country clubs. Excellent shape for the winter we have had. Pace of play was slow, but that was because of one or two inconsiderate groups. Will definitely be back.
great day of GOLF
I enjoyed the course and it was very well layed out.
Why participate with golf now if you don't like it
Me and my buddies play at least twice a week. We use Golf Now when we can as its a great deal, however, a few courses in my area, Capital City, Auburn and Elk Run obviously would rather not honor any Golf Now reservations. That being said, Why do these facilities participate if its obvious they would rater not? We all enjoy playing these courses but will avoid them because of the attitude from the staff. I would like to thank Golf Now for the great deals we receive though them.
a little wet
A little wet but come summer should be perfect. I would go again
Awesome
Awesome day of golf! With as much rain as we've gotten recently, it's nice to know this course plays drier than most around the area. The course is in great shape for it only being March.
nice layout
Very nice layout. The fairways were in great shape. Greens were pretty decent as well. It was the first sunny day all year and it wasn't soaked and drained well. Bunkers were nice as well, trust me I know.
Good overall course for 14 bucks on golf now with a range bucket.
Winter in Oly
We like to play Capital City in the winter because of it's good drainage and dry conditions even after a rainy period. That's still true. But the round was very slow, and I hate slow play. We were stacked up 4 groups deep at the par 3 6th! We never laid eyes on a ranger. I'll think twice before going back.
While We're Young!
A rare, beautiful January Saturday was ruined by slow play. 2-3 groups on some tees with a 15-20 minute wait. We walked off after 9.
Great dry golf course
Very dry and great to walk. Greens were fantastic. Great speed and rolled very well. Sand traps were not packed and easy to get out. Pace of play was a little less than 4 hours and it helped to stay warm as it was a little brisk.
For the Price, Best Public 18 hole course near Olympia!
In My Opinion it is the Best Course with your Buddies for a Decent price. Alot of Really Nice local club Members. I've played there lots of times, You will hardly get out on the course by yourself, They will pair you up with somebody to make the course run faster. But every time, I've been paired up with someone, They were always Nice and fun to play along with! Get past the first hole which seems like the longest par 5 you will play, And its great course! LOTS of houses tho, so if you feel Uncomfortable round that, You might not like this Course...
Fun course to play.
The day we played was very cold. Temperature never got above 40 degrees. They put tarps over the greens at night when frost is expected and start play in the morning with no delays.
The course was in very good condition for this time of the year.
We used a power cart and the 90 degree rule was all that was required.
This is a very good winter golf course.
GREAT WALKING COURSE.
I like this course because it is very easy to walk and it stays dry most all year long. Even when we have heavy rains, we are able to play this course without much difficulty.
Go to this course today and play 18!
I enjoyed playing this course. I hooked up with a threesome and we had a good time. I really would like to become a member if I lived closer. Challenging, beautiful well maintained and very friendly staff.
A great walking course; fun, wonderful views, dry and in great shape.
The Capital City Golf course, located south of Lacey, WA is a really fine public course. It has a great practice green, driving range, chipping green and 18 holes to challenge and expand your skill. It is also a great winter course that drains well and is playable in most weather conditions.
Well maintained, older course. It looks easy, but will make you work to score.
An older-style course. It is well maintained - tee to greens and it has a lot of mature trees that will make you work if you stray from the wide fairways. Almost no water, but OB alongside most of the holes.
The staff is friendly, adequate driving range plus practice area and a nice restaurant/lounge for afterwards.
Nice course will play it again
Moderate challenging course not to long enjoyed the golfing experience will play the course again
Best course for the money
I have golfed Capitol City for 10 years now and it is still the best course by far for how cheap it is to play 18 holes. They still have the driest course conditions in winter that i've seen anywhere.
