Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends
About
The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

They booked us on the wrong course
Amazing course and in great condition. Kaneff is mostly great in managing their courses but just not at Lionhead. I booked for Masters to get a new course under my belt but they put me on Legends. I even showed them my booking receipt and they still said I was booked on the other course. Baffling.
Pace of plays here was very slow. Twilight times has every business guy leaving work at 3pm and racing to get in front of the next guy only to have awkward waits for the next five hours on the tee boxes. This is a high level course so don’t need book it with executive course timed gaps between tee offs.
I will return because I love golf. But I dread the way this course is handled.
Legends challengers your skills for sure
Tough course very challenging...only downside is that pace of play is very slow on weekends
A Beast !!
Outstanding layout. Bring your A game or it will be a long day.
Course that will exhaust you, but at the same time will excite you if you play well. Broke 80 on this course in 2017.shot 79!!
Need all the clubs in the bag !!
Everyone has to play this at one point.
Great experience.
Only negative thing I would mention is the customer service has gone down the toilet.
Just not very good greeting you and before you start the round.
Great friendly service in the restaurant.
Would recommend to everyone !!
A quality course testing your skill
The Legend course is pretty demanding and requires every bit of your skill to conquer it. However, the scenery can help to alleviate your frustration if any during your play. The course is well maintained except the aeration done on the green and the staff did alert us several days before the play to avoid any bad feelings. There are falling leaves around at this time of the season but the staff is busy blowing them away which we appreciate very much. The club house personnel are very polite and friendly and the starter is really humorous making the mood before tee off very relaxing. This is a plus for any golf course.
6 hour round
I play a lot of golf and realize we are out there for a good time not to rush through a round of golf. I do expect to finish a round under 5 1/2 hours, not 6. After 9 holes we were 3 hours in and only at hole 10. I did not play the last 9 holes and when I spoke to the gentleman at the pro shop he said for this course that is normal. He explained there was no marshall out even though it was a weekend. Very disappointed and will not return as there is so many courses out there to choose from.
Today was not a good Day
Booked as a single and paired with a 3some.
The threesome is at the range
Told the greeter I'll be at the chipping area by the range.
Greeter comes and gets the 3some from the range about 15 minutes ahead of tee time
Does not get me
Then I see the m drive off to the first hole
I come back and ask why they left without me.
He explains they wanted they wanted to go out early.
I said you knew where I was you could have gotten me when you got them.
Now he wants me to play the other course.
Very Very poor customer service.
Told him nope, That's your problem not mine.
Grabbed a cart and went and caught my group at the first tee.
Second that ruin the round. We were playing blues and every blue was moved up to the whites.
What a disappointment for a course of this caliber.
Not a good day
Way too slow
Was 3.5 hrs to play front 9. Very disorganized at tee off. Not one Marshall for the entire round.
Every group we came across was complaining about how slow it is.
Should be an easy fix.
Not the course I remember
Haven’t golfed here in several years and was somewhat disappointed. Legends is not of the calibre I remember. Maybe because I have golfed many other nice courses since then. Earlier this week at Peninsula Lakes and recently at the Ridge at Manitou. Just my POV. However, the staff is super friendly and helpful and the course is very conveniently located for me. Oh yeah, and the carts need updating. Darn thing was hard to steer and brakes super sensitive. All in all for the price it was ok. The Masters is probably a better track for me next time.
Thanks we have changed our pricing and it is now $70 to $99, thanks for the feedback
Thank you!
Overpriced and gimmicky setup
The course doesn't represent good value. \the tee boxes were in terrible shape plus the grass was long on most. I have played many courses in better shape and at cheaper rates.
There are numerous holes with forced layups including a par 5 off the tee. Leaves you with a very long second shot
My wife played with me and the tees for women were not fair. One par 3 was 105 yards, fronted by tall reeds, couldn't see the flag or green. .How fair is that?
Wasn't a scenic course either. Hard to say anything good about it.
Will send to Vesco our Superintendent, thanks for the feedback
Growing In
Ive played this course many times but not in a couple of years. It’s really growing and and getting quite tight. It’s a tough track so you better bring your A game.
Yes it is a battle with Mother Nature , thanks!
Thanks Danny!
Very challenging
Course very confusing first time playing. Signage sometimes confusing. A lot of blind shots and carry’s unsure of distance. You lose a lot of balls because unsure where it rolls after it goes over hills. Staff very friendly.
We will work on the signage! Thanks
championship quality course
This golf course is not for the average golfer, the course is extremely challenging.
A gem if you stay on the fairways, go astray and a double bogey is almost guaranteed!
Course is in fantastic shape, and allows you to roll the dice on risk reward pin locations.
You will remember several holes as it is not a cookie cutter style layout.
Enjoy the views and let em rip!
Thank you
A Besst
Legends course is outstanding.
Not for the average player.
You better hit the driver straight or it will be a really long frustrating day.
Course immaculate. Greens outstanding.
Played the blues today. The average golfer should play the whites . Love the challenge. You need every club in the bag to break 90.
Number 10 is by far the toughest par 4 you will ever play. Course is a great test.
If you want a easier test play the Masters course . Look for better deals to play this course on Golf now.
Thanks Joe!
Welcome Home
I was a member here for 15 years and had not been back in a couple. So nice to see the speed of the greens are up again. New challenges here. Fewer bunkers for sure, but much more tall grass if you stray too far from your targets.
You need to stay focused at all times. I even encountered of few of those nasty stinging nettles.
I've missed you old pal.
Thanks and welcome back!
Thanks
Challenging
Very challenging course. The par 4's can almost feel like a par 5 with the hazards in place. Course is in great shape.
Only issue was that the beverage cart was no where to be seen and they close the restaurant very early. Even when open, is hard to find staff to serve you. This needs to improve.
Thanks!
We will find our lost marshall! This feedback will go right to the Proshop. Thanks
