Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends
About
The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

Beautiful and Difficult Course
This course was very nice and fun to play. Went in with a some extra balls which were needed. Really enjoyed it and would like to play again. Would normally not be able to afford playing this course without a deal like this. Our group played from the Blue tee's to get some extra time on the course.
The deal was for $69.50 but after GolfNow fees and taxes was $81.35, which was awesome compared to $155 pre-tax regular price.
Beautiful and challenging
the legends course is a must play for every golfer in the GTA...there's no better combination of beauty, challenge and pristine conditions. The pace can be slow because of how tough it is and how many balls can be lost so try and play late in day or early in morning.
Way over priced and extremely poor quality.
Played this course back in May 2014. Booked through golf now who charged me a month later as only 3 of 4 players showed up. This is one of the worst courses in the area. The price was astronomical and quality of the course was comparable was not in great shape. I highly recommend not playing this one. There are far better courses including staff for half the price. Real bad experience. Will never play here again.
Must play course!!!!
Course is in great condition. If you haven't played it before, then this one that want to cross off your bucket list.
Great course but...
They do not have any drinking water on the course and not one refreshment cart was seen until the 11th hole. By this time we all ready stocked up at the halfway house with overpriced Gatorade and water.
For the price of the green fee they should include a small bucket of range balls to warm up if you would like. $9 for a small bucket of balls that only go 80% distance since they don't have a full length range is a little extreme.
A good challenge of golf
We found the course to be in pretty good shape but, the greens were a bit slow.
The pin placements were quite challenging as was the golf. The golf experience overall was a good value for the money.
Looking forward to returning to Lionhead for more golf!
Slowest course I have ever played
Quit after 9 holes, Starting hole had 4 groups on it. Did not even start the game until 1/2 hr after starting time. Time was in the morning so must have been backed up from the start.
Backed up
The score card shows that the round will take about 5 hours, however at the first tee box, we were waiting for two groups ahead of us and at most holes, we were waiting for the same two groups. The pace never really improved. Other than that, great course to play, lots of fun.
Beauty course and great greens crew
Best greens crew in GTA... Love this course. Pace of play is okay. Legends is not an easy course by any means. Below intermediate, bring some extra sleeves of balls.
lion head legends
It is a challenging course but I find that the greens this year have not been fast as they used to be and some of the greens still have damaged spots which makes putting unpredictable....
Decent Design. Embarrassing execution
Over $100 (including GolfNOW discount) yet still have the nerve to charge another $15 for a bucket of range balls to warm up on poorly maintained decks with minimal targets. Embarrassing.
Once on the course, expect a 5hr round hitting to greens riddled with pitch marks.
Interesting, challenging design, but I think the layout actually takes the driver out of your hands too often to be honest as numerous holes force irons/hybrids off the tee followed by mid/long irons into shallow (and bumpy) greens. A shame really as the course is cut through beautiful towering trees and rivers.
Great location, but you can find much better value elsewhere.
disappointed
The price is way too high considering the condition of the course. The greens were extremely rough.
Breakfast was good but the selection of the snacks on the cart was minimal. Most courses I have played, I can usually get sandwich selections on the cart.
Legends
Legends is in fairly good shape considering the winter we just experienced - many courses received major damage - Our group was not slow, but for some reason we were followed by the Marshall hole by hole for almost the whole round - my focus became more on that than my round of golf, which made it a little on the uncomfortable side
not enough
A course that charges rates north of $100.00 should offer GPS on their carts with hole distance to hazard details. If you are not a regular at the Legends course it is very difficult to figure out where to pace your tee shot as many holes have blind landing areas, and scopes don't always help.
Great course
Unbelievable course...challenging yet fun!
Would recommend for any level of golfer
The Legends has become a Myth!!
I remember this course being one of the better courses in the GTA... NOT ANY MORE! The maintenance of the course isn't what it used to be. Most of the greens are in terrible condition with "pot holes" and "speed bumps." Ball marks are not repaired there is obvious damage as a result.
The pace of the game was very slow and I didn't see a marshal til the 17th hole. It took over 5 hours to play the round.
If the management doesn't respect the course, how can they expect the golfers to do so.
Lionhead early
If you are familiar with the 2 courses here then you will know that the legends is the better of the 2.
The masters I played last week and there was a lot of winter damage.
So of the 2 ...the legend is the better choice as long as you can get it for less than $75 ....and that is only a retired guys opinion.
The Legends Course Roared
Great day to play. Weather was perfect and the GolfNow Hot deal was terrific. The usual price for the course was discounted by adding a small range ball bucket, choice of burger or hot dog, soda and chips.
The Legends Course was very challenging as the winds picked up and the yardage was a guessing game. A lot of the hazards came into play. If you don't have a rangefinder or GPS, on-course yardages become a challenge.
The course was very well-maintained and did not suffer the very prolonged winter the area courses suffered.
Great Deal
Booked on Golfnow and lunch and a bucket of balls (for the range) was included at a great price.
Overall course condition was very good except for the greens which have seen a lot of damage from the severe winter we had.
I showed up an hour and a half early and they very kindly met my request to go out at an earlier time.
Overall a great experience and would highly recommend to anyone.
Spectacular Valley Course
Wonderful scenery mitigates the course difficulty. This is a great design which results in target golf which in this case really works. You pay for your errant shots, but the course while very difficult is very fair. I would love to play it again!
