Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends
About
The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

Slow Play
The course was in pretty good condition. Greens were in very good shape. If you were not on the fairways, the rough was thick and could prove costly in stokes. The biggest pet peeve was the pace of play. We started out 10 minutes behind adn had to wait at almost every hole.
Challenging course in good shape
Challenging course in good shape. Would play again.
An enjoyable challenge
Lionhead - Legends was a fun test. The course was in great condition, despite being a little wet. It had been raining prior to our tee off and the day before, as well. Even with wet conditions and cart-path only rules, playing this course was a treat. Pace of play was perfect. We never had to wait for a shot. The staff was friendly and the course was playing fair (I'd like to go back on a dry day and see how much more challenging it can be). Played from the Blue tees, which was a good test. I wouldn't have broken 90 if we were playing from the Golds! Will hopefully return this year to play the Masters course as well. Favourite round of the year so far!
the course was challanging
it was to wet so it was car patch only, but the course is very nice
Beautiful course and facility. Very difficult layout, especially the back nine on legends.
Great! Difficult if not an experienced player. Back nine is brutal. A definite shot makers course. Pars are good scores.
Rain squalls but a great round
First time playing Lionhead Legends. Overall my favourite Kaneff Course to date (I have yet to play Streetsville and Niagara). Worthy competitor to Glen Abbey as there are many similar holes offered. Nice to play complete round in valley playing around many water features including the Credit River. Was a bit wet, but you would be an idiot to think a course played entirely within a watershed boundary would be anything less after a solid week of rain.
Some minor flaws: clubhouse needs updating (i.e. roof, carpeting) and some of the cart paths were closed, but perhaps that is because of the rain.
Overall, great round on a difficult course. 8/10
Great golf course
Terrific golf course, well worth the price paid through Golf Now.
Would recommend for sure
Challenging course
You will use all your clubs on this course. My advice is to club down by one. Fescues depth are longer that they appear.
range should be included at course of this level
greens were perfect, rolled great and held approach shots. Played May 27th and overall course was perfect
when I pay this kind of money, the range should be included.
too strict with the cart. even if I did purchase a bucket, I wouldn't be able to move the cart until just before my tee time
Too slow
It is impossible to play in under 5 hours at Lionhead Legends. No evidence of rangers or their monitoring pace of play. Expensive course does not represent value in today's market. After favouring Lionhead for 3 seasons have decided to find another faourite place to play. May 17 - 5h40m May 26 - 5h15m
great day of golf
The course was in great condition . The pace was very slow and frustrating to wait at each tee . The chicken burgers from the Food shack were not fully cooked so that was disappointing.
Course rewards and punishes shots accordingly
Fantastic layout with a wicked opening first hole. Food and proshop staff below par (i'm certain there were some trainees) but I'm certain that will improve as the season progresses.
Outside of that, tough course on a cold windy and wet day.
I would definitely play this course again.
It's a challenging course that I found myself being a bit more conservative on. The greens rolled nicely, the couple bunkers I was in were good, and the rest of the place was in great shape. My only gripe was with hole 15 - I found it to be a little too odd with the sharp dog leg and narrow fairway to the green.
All said, it was a great round and I will definitely consider playing there again.
Great Track & Scenery
The course was in pretty good shape. As any public course goes there are too many ball marks on the greens but thats about the people who play it rather than the course itself. Fix You Ball Marks People!!!
It's a true approach shot course, very small and mounded greens are a great challenge to any player.
I'd definitely come back!
Very enjoyable round of golf
In the past pace of play at Lionhead has been a problem at around five hours.n Played today on a little over four hours and never had to wait on group ahead. Course in good condition.
great
beautiful and tough.
the most difficult part is the greens.
Great value for your dollar
For early May, course was in pretty good shape. The fairways were in very good condition and the rough was cut low enough to give you a chance when you miscued on your shot. The greens were pretty hard considering not many ball marks left after balls coming into the green. Overall, a great experience, look forward to the next round.
Tough Course
Great price from Golfnow.com to play this course. Driving range was mats only which was a downside. Legends course has always been very challenging. Couse conditions were surprisingly good except for ball marks on greens that people do not fix. 90 degree cart rule. Pace of play slowed after front nine as we were a twosome and the foursome in front of us would not offer us to pass them. Mashalls were driving around but did nothing to speed up play. They did however give me heck for driving the cart in the rough a little bit as it was not exactly 90 degrees. Should have worried about pace of play over my minor infraction as it was a bit of a joke imho. Would play this course again as its always a good test.
One of the best public courses in Ontario
I play the legends course atleast once a year and it is always a thrill and a challenge. It never gets boring.
