The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

No more free drinking water on course @ public or semi private courses! Too many legal liabilities. Clublink and other private clubs only. Common knowledge? But the course was good?

An average outing

Great facilities, staff, overall good. Challenging course. Biggest issue was that it appeared that alot of people didn't replace divots not did they repair ball marks on the green. I guess this is due to all the tournaments they host where people don't seem to care. I also thought it was over priced based upon what I received. I'll try a different course next time for sure.

on this day the greens were superb!!

Always love playing this track as it provides a stiff fair challenge each and every time. Greens were absolutely perfect on this day with just the right speed and rolled as true as ever. Would recommend this course to anyone looking for a fun challenging day on the golf course.

Gotta hit all kinds of shots.

First time playing the course and had a fun time. Played from the Whites which allowed me to hit 3W and hybrid from some of the tees and was thankful! (My average drive is about 250). The course doesn't offer big landing areas and if you're not in the fairway, good luck sticking any of the "landing strip" greens. If you happen to catch one of the greens, there aren't any flat sections so you have to be on the right 8x8 quadrant to get a straight uphill putt!
The condition was top notch and I enjoyed my round, but I likely won't rush out to play it again soon. Not a lot of room for error on ANY of your shots, probably better suited for the low handicappers. Sketts, 15HC

Good course to play outside of Toronto

We played the Legends course the day after Canada day so I assume everyone was back to work and the course was open in front of us. I thought the course were conditions were good, being the day that it was there was quite a bit of mowing going on around us, however having played a couple of courses in Niagra the day before, I guess I was expecting something just a bit more for the fee we payed to play it, and from what I could tell we got a pretty nice discount on the rate. Even so I think its a great course and deserves to be played to form your own opinion.

Lionhead is not back, but getting back.

Long round but expected on holiday. Still not as good as it once was and still not worthy of $100 plus per round but I will say the Legends course was in the best shape I have seen it in over the past 3 years. Greens were fast but receptive, long irons would hold but you still got a true roll on your putts. Look for a deal and head back if you have not been in a while. As always the Marshalls are awesome, very friendly and knowledgeable. Play the Masters if you are a high handicapper.

Average/good course, high price.

I've golfed Lionhead many times and have never paid full price. Many courses include range balls and/or GPS, but all Lionhead includes is the cart. At $150 regular price, that's pretty steep. I paid $64 through Golfnow. What's typical with Kaneff courses is they charge for everything. That said, Lionhead is a good course that I will golf again, but it's not worth the high price. The greens rolled well and the fairways were in good condition. The pace of play could have been quicker, but under 5 hours is to be expected in the GTA.

Challenging course

The course needs drinking water. There is no water on any hole. The staff is great. The management is bad. We were there 20 minutes early . There was no one on the course. The management would not let as out even 1 minute earlier. This is very bad PR. The pace was great. We were the only one on the course. No one in front of us or behind us.

Beautiful and challenging course

This course was in great shape and was very challenging. You'll use every club in your bag as you'll be forced to layup often from the tee and wild shots are punished. My only gripe would be that the sand traps weren't in great shape and the beverage cart didn't have any beer on it and did not come around very often when I played (this usually wouldn't be too bad but it was 40 degrees celcius when I was playing).

Still one of the great courses in the GTA

I hadn't played either of the courses at Lionshead in about 8 years and the Legends course continues to be challenging and scenic. I was surprised to play a 4 hour round on a Sunday afternoon in June, so the pace of play was very good.

Very poor course management, pace of play was sinful.

Not to offer free warm up ball for the driving range on a top tier course is plain cheap and completely unexceptable.

great course

Probably wouldn't go back due to the cart path only rule - makes the game too long and unless you remove your bag from the cart you need to guess on what club to bring or you bring several with you plus your putter - very un-enjoyable in that respect

Slow Play

The course was in pretty good condition. Greens were in very good shape. If you were not on the fairways, the rough was thick and could prove costly in stokes. The biggest pet peeve was the pace of play. We started out 10 minutes behind adn had to wait at almost every hole.

An enjoyable challenge

Lionhead - Legends was a fun test. The course was in great condition, despite being a little wet. It had been raining prior to our tee off and the day before, as well. Even with wet conditions and cart-path only rules, playing this course was a treat. Pace of play was perfect. We never had to wait for a shot. The staff was friendly and the course was playing fair (I'd like to go back on a dry day and see how much more challenging it can be). Played from the Blue tees, which was a good test. I wouldn't have broken 90 if we were playing from the Golds! Will hopefully return this year to play the Masters course as well. Favourite round of the year so far!

Beautiful course and facility. Very difficult layout, especially the back nine on legends.

Great! Difficult if not an experienced player. Back nine is brutal. A definite shot makers course. Pars are good scores.

Rain squalls but a great round

First time playing Lionhead Legends. Overall my favourite Kaneff Course to date (I have yet to play Streetsville and Niagara). Worthy competitor to Glen Abbey as there are many similar holes offered. Nice to play complete round in valley playing around many water features including the Credit River. Was a bit wet, but you would be an idiot to think a course played entirely within a watershed boundary would be anything less after a solid week of rain.

Some minor flaws: clubhouse needs updating (i.e. roof, carpeting) and some of the cart paths were closed, but perhaps that is because of the rain.

Overall, great round on a difficult course. 8/10

Challenging course

You will use all your clubs on this course. My advice is to club down by one. Fescues depth are longer that they appear.
