Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends
About
The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

Fantastic golf course
Thought the layout, course conditions and greens were absolutely perfect. This track is challenging and fun and I believe is among the best in Ontario.
Not for the average golfer. If you normally shot 90 you'll be 100 here.
There are too many blind holes, and they don't give you enough help getting around, with no GPS provided. It's a very pretty course but not a very friendly course to play if you're there for the first time. I think you could shave 5 or so shots off your round if you were going to go back 3 or 4 times.
The greens were quite fast.
It was cart path only when I played which made for a lot of back and forth to the cart which I'm sure contributed to the rather slow play.
Being a very low lying course I suspect "cart path only" is a quite common restriction. At times you wonder why you bothered to take a cart as it always seems to be so far away.
Great course with minor issues
The Legends course is very challenging as expected and except for the extreme wetness where some fairways are even under water (rained a couple of days before and started 6:30am due to other commitments ) the course is just as nice as before. The previous few times I played there was also early morning and I wish I can play there when it is not too wet and later in the day. Because of high rates I can only play when I see rates drop thru Golfnow. Some bunkers were not even raked and been washed out by rain. Fortunately my ball did not go there.
Great Day for golfing
Great day but course was very wet. Only problem. I had was it took way to long to complete. Always had to wait 10 minutes to tee off.
Excellent Layout and great conditions!
Excellent Layout and great conditions! - Definitely adding this course to our rotation.
Very Small Greens
The Course is very tough, the green sizes are so small you have to be extremely precise with your distances.
word of advice Assume red stakes on any wooded area, the club should do this to speed up play, people either spend too much time looking for balls or they keep coming back to drop and play for a lost ball.
Red Stakes please all over the course.
great front 9
front 9 I found was easy to see where to play to off the tee, the back 9 had hidden hazards that without prior knowledge led to some poor results even with good shots due to lack of course knowledge.
Good course good value.
Good course and value apart from one stupid hole (15) and the tiny creek they put in the fairway of the 7th hole. If you hit your career drive on this par 5 you roll into a water hazard they put just at the point you need to reach to have a chance at the green in two. Not smart and makes you wonder who designed this, maybe the same person who designed 15 which is another par 5 requiring a 99% accurate tee shot to have any chance at reaching it in two - gimmicky not challenging as you're really lucky if you hit the right spot to have a go.
Wonderful course great value green fee and cart $89.00
For such a great ciurse found staff not that friendly or helpful also pace of play would be helpef if there was a stsrter at hole 1 and gps on carts. Otherwise had a great time
I forgot how slow it was
Kaneff courses spread tee off times by the minimum time that is humanly possible and Lionhead is no different. Once again I experienced one of the slowest rounds of my life. At one point we even had to call the Marshall out to speed up some groups (not sure why he wasn't already out doing his job).
Despite all this we also got asked by one of the greens crew to pause our game for 5 minutes as he sprayed insecticide on the fairway. Another first - thanks Kaneff.
Fantastic Customer Service
Course was in great shape, is very challenging and is worth every cent but the biggest impression was the customer service, When booking on-line I accidentally booked the tee time for the the wrong date, upon arriving with a customer and checking in, they did not have a tee time for me as my tee time was for an early date. Without any questions they picked up on my embarrassment, pretended it was their mistake and very quietly they found a tee time allowing me to save face in front of my customer. They did not charge me for the round that I booked on the wrong date that had also gone by.
Tough track
A few gimmicky par 5's but overall great course that will challenge every club in the bag
Prepare to be humbled
If you are an intermediate golfer like me, you will be humbled. Some of the fairways are very tight and hazards abound - bring some extra balls! To get a good score, leave the driver in the bag and play smart. It will be more enjoyable that way. Overall, it was challenging but very enjoyable. A bit out of my price range but I will go there again on a deal.
Advanced Golfers Only
Great course in Mississauga, Ontario. Very challenging course with some very hard holes. Not recommended for novice players.
Difficult course fun to play. Play early as later in the day the rounds take a lot longer to play.
Good course very challenging from the blue and gold tees. Like the entire course except the Mickey Mouse par 5 15th hole. At the discounted rates on golf now it is great value.
Rushed by other players
Even though the Marshall said that we were on time, if not ahead of time the people behind us were rushing us which did not make our round enjoyable. They hit our cart TWICE with balls which led into a verbal dispute. It put a sour taste in our mouth at the end of the round. The course was great but with people like that on the course it doesn't make it too enjoyable at times.
Complete Target Golf
There are golf courses out there that force golfers to hit to targets that I enjoy but this course was to the EXTREME. Two of the par fives give you very little area to land your drive and two others force you to lay up at 240 yards from the tee before a hazard. I'm ok with the option of laying up off of the tee ONLY if the carry required isn't 290+ yards. Beyond that, the course is extremely difficult and seems to be difficult "just cause" instead of difficult in a strategic way.
I am a 4 handicap and found the course very difficult. Anyone who is above a 10 index length will leave this course very upset and dissatisfied. I am a proponent of the tee it forward program and even when playing from the correct tee's, many will find this course VERY unfair.
Excellent conditions and course layout
We really enjoyed the course, it was in great shape and present some very picturesque holes, pace of play was a bit slow, but given the sweltering heat it was fine...excellent value will definitely play this course again
extremely challenging and equally enjoyable, definitely going to play again.
Well designed public course with good maintenance, a lot of fun and well worth the money. There was a slow group in front of us so the pace was rather slow, but regardless the experience was thoroughly enjoyed. Looking forward to playing again.
Slow
Started players off the front and back, making for a quick front 9 of 2 hours, but the back 9 was 3 hours!!!
Trying to make money has cost them, I won't be returning.
