Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends
About
The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

Nice course to play for all levels of skill.
Only 2 major problems:
1 Far to many divet holes all over the course, not replaced or repaired by individual or course emplyees.
2 Tee boxes not in good enough shape for this type of course.
All in all a very good golf course, would certainly play it again.
Always fun to play
Despite course conditioning not being to the standard it was in years past, the decreased rates make it easy to overlook. Still in really nice shape and, with the heart of the course being the same beast it has always been, it's always a pleasure to play
Interesting and challenging layout ...
Surprisingly good condition especially for late November. Also great value with golfnow.com at $60 with cart.
Best course on golfnow
A beautiful, challenging course who's maintenance is kept by the friendliest staff. You definitely get full value for your money
lots of potential
Typical Kaneff course.Lionhead has great potential but does not meet my standards. Everytime we play a Kaneff course it's cart path only. I don't know why it is this way because the courses are hardly in pristine conditions. I would rather walk then pay for cart paths only. I can't remember playing Royal Ontario and being able to drive on the fairways. I have played many courses in similar conditions and carts were allowed. There are many courses that I could play that are just as good and not pay for a cart if it's cart path only. Not such a good deal after all. Oh and 1 round of beers for a foursome $40.00 with tip!!! Get real !!! Who's going to grab the first round?
Quality Course
Great elevation changes, fast greens and many hazards. Not as challenging as promoted, although we played from the blue tees. (Middle tees)
Well maintained for fall expectations.
Not worth full price if you go through the course, however, it is definitely a steal by going through GolfNow.
Tougher than I remember
Guess I'm getting older but the blues played longer than the last time I was here. A little cool so the ball didn't fly as far and I'm sticking with that story. Great test of golf management.
Great Course, Slow Play
This course was in great condition. The greens were fast even when they were wet. The only knock on the course is it took 5 and half hours to complete. We were playing in a group of 3, there was a twosome behind us. At one point the marshal requested that we play together as a group of 5. I thought that was ridiculous. On the next hole another marshal came by and gave us a hard time about playing as a 5. That didn't make any sense to us. Other than the slow play this is a great challenging course.
Better than Expected
I had not played the Legends Course for more than ten years and I expected slow play and pretty ragged shape. However, when we played last weekend, the pace of play was reasonable and the course was well maintained. While the course is difficult, older or weaker players can have an enjoyable game from the white tees.
The facility is still classy and the service was good. This course is definitely worth another try if you have not revisited it in years.
Challenging holes with unique features, very well-maintained
A very well-maintained course with unique hole-to-hole features. Good elevation changes throughout the course. Only complaint is they don't allow you to drive the power carts to the range, which is a pretty good walking distance from the clubhouse.
Very challenging but greens lack conditioning / upkeep
Very satisfied with the layout of the course and the challenge provided by tight fairways, elevated greens and bunkering. Pace of play was hampered by ability of foursome playing ahead of our group.
Greens conditioning was not what was expected form this caliber course as it seems centre pin placements were overused due to difficulty of the layout.
Great course, slow play
Played on a Friday afternoon, took over 5 hours. Course is in great shape, nice fast greens, insane pin placements. love to play it but pick your tee times wisely.
great course
Great course very scenic. Difficult course but very fun
challenging and good view
This course needs course management including accurate shot and mental preseverance.
Very tough but enjoyable
The course is tough as advertised but very playable. I enjoyed the scenery and would highly recommend this course to any golfer.
Not worth it
I played the Legends course so can't speak for both. Legends is ugly and a waste of your time and money. It's not a terrible layout or round, but considering the pace and how much attention the grounds require, this should be a $50 golf course - at the most. Take your money elsewhere and play something pristine.
Great challenge
The course was very green and as usual a great challenge. With
golfnow it makes the whole day a better experience($$$).
Course and Service were fantastic
After booking via GolfNow the check in was very quick and the price offered via GolfNow made it affordable. The course (Legends) was in great shape. The course itself was extremely challenging as there were some long carries on a few of the holes that required you to get your tee shot or lay up in the right place. We had dinner after the round and the food was very good. I will certainly play there again.
Well kept! beautiful scenery! Challenging course.
Boarding Brampton/Mississauga this course is a must play.
Sure this is challenging but if you manage this course u will score well. Staff is friendly and course is satisfactory keep well. Only cons is there's no gps in golf cart.
Tee it forward
This course is very difficult, not only from tee to green, but on the greens as well. Do yourself a favour and play one set of tees further forward than you normally would, and you'll have fun. It's a beautiful course that is well maintained, but if you play normal yardage, you'll spend the day getting beat up by the course.
