Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Masters
About
The Masters Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club is ideal for golfers who don't feel they are prepared to take on the demanding Legends Course at the club, which has been ranked as one of the toughest courses in North America. The Masters layout is similar to golf courses in Florida, with unique bunkers and scenic ponds that meld perfectly with the rolling hills and wetlands that dot the scenic landscape. Its more traditional layout is considered the kinder and gentler of the two golf courses at Lionhead Golf & Country Club, but there are still a fair amount of challenges. The Masters course requires several long carries over water, particularly on the 16th. This infamous par 5 features a green surrounded by water.

Evening with a buddy
Second time playing this course this year. Very disappointed. Course is not in great condition. Greens are not up to past levels. Still has visible tree damage from winter storm. Staff are not overly friendly. Not a great experience for the cost.
course is challenging
17th hole is fantastic. Course is in great condition with challenging greens
Warm Reception at Lionhead
Great day on the Masters Course. Excellent pro shop reception. Some greens still recovering from the tough winter but very playable. Will return. Graet value with GolfNow. Thank you.
lionheard masters
great course great time, construction was the only fault and food at the half way house was not up to their standards
Excelelnt
the golf course was in excellent shape, speed of play was very good. Facilities was excellent.
Recommend this course to above average players.
Great conditions, challenging course
Over all the course was great. The greens were moderate and the fairways well groomed. I arrived early for my 8:AM tee Time to get loose and prepare for my round. Unfortunately the range was closed until 8:AM. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time. Its difficult to play well on a challenging course without proper preparation.
Nice
I think the course has some really nice holes but some of the greens are in rough shape but I'm sure it has a lot to do with the tuff winter we just had.
First impression left me a lasting impression.
The clubhouse is beautiful with a great 19th hole food services (even though I did not purchase any food or beverage). The Masters course seemed to play long for me even though I played from the white tees with the father and son I was paired up with. Most of the fairways were fairly open with little undulations. The greens had undulations but they were like skating rinks for my golf balls because of the dry conditions at the time I played. I would play again with a discounted green fee.
Happy to see in good shape.
Lionhead always concerns me as some Kaneff courses are not kept well - thankfully Lionhead is in great shape right now. Greens rolled true and with some pace. Bunkers in good shape with consistent sand, and fairways were nice to hit from, when we hit them.
LIONHEAD - Masters Course
My brother and I spent a wonderful day at Lionhead. It was a little overcast but the course conditions were excellent and we enjoyed the entire day. Great Course, Great Staff and a Great Experience! I would recommend this for any kind of family bonding.
excellent value
played late afternoon for excellent (for this course) price. Busier than anticipated, but to be expected at this time of year. Course in great shape. Challenging for mid to high handicappers. Helps to have played here before - Masters not as long as the Legends, but tricky doglegs and lots of sandtraps! Highly recommended, especially at Golfnow deals.
Hot and windy
Course was playing tough. I had heard greens took a beating from the winter so first time out this year. Have played before, so could see where greens were stressed but looked like they had recovered pretty well. Not near 100% but better than some cheaper courses.
I played in the afternoon and they had shotgun tournament in the morning. Got out on time and course was cleared of all items related to tournament, so bonus marks for the staff. Got me out on time and paired up with a couple of newbies so I could lead them around. Only complaint, BALL REPAIR TOOLS should be mandatory on all golf courses !! should be enforced more than divot repair or slow play. I fixed at least half a dozen ball marks on every green, even ones not in my line. Was really bad but expect that from tournament pla I guess. Staff should go out to each green after and repair what they can. Was a factor on a number of my putts !! Overall, still a nice track and good price with cart and staff was friendly and efficient as was cart setup and starter.
Scenic and well managed
A good test off the blue tees.
With so many doglegs it would be nicer to have GPS yardages on carts to speed up play.
Couldn't ask for friendlier staff. We were made to feel very welcome the moment we arrived.
Too slow pace of play
Although we complained several times to the marshal that the foursome in front of us was playing too slowly nothing happened. Also nobody repairs ball marks on the greens nor rakes the sand traps. It is a pity that such a nice course is not looked after by the players.
Beautiful course if you can get a deal
This is a beautiful course, and very challenging, I wouldn't pay the full rate for it, but if you can find a good deal on Golf now go for it, paid $50 and don't regret it at all.
stuck behind tournament
Had a 1:24 tee time got paired up with a father and son great people.starter informed us on first tee we were following a tournament and the last few groups are juniors and they would be walking.we had a 15-20 min wait on the first 3 holes then we came to the 4th tee and there was 14 golf carts waiting there thats right 14 couldn't count all the people.so we called the club house and a marshall came out and took us over to the legends course.we finished at 7:30 pm
For the price....
I love the Marters Course at Lionehead, unlike the Legends it's not too difficult. The staff there is always friendly et we normally have a great time.
The only thing that always bugs me is that for the price, we should have free access to the driving range instead of paying extra, and at least have a GPS in every cart.
Good layout but the greens need some work
The course has a nice layout with some fun holes. The tees and fairways were good but the greens had some rough patches and some of the bunkers are a mix of sand and gravel. I would not pay full price for this course but if you can get a hot deal for $50 or less it would be a decent value. I would play here again in hopes the greens would be better.
