Course is in great condition.
This course is shaping up very nicely compared to other courses in area. Tee boxes are watered and soft. Fairways are plush and in great condition. Greens are shaping up very nice and are some of the best condition greens I've played on after the harsh winter. Best value for the money of any course I've played from golfnow.
Ditto to Ditto
Played once before several years ago. Decided to try again. Course was in great shape. Lots of trees on some holes and open in some holes.
Rainy Memorial Day
We were going to only play 9 holes since the weather was so bad. But once it cleared up we bought the back 9 too and I'm happy we did. Very fun course. Good elevation, fun layout, quite a few tricky and challenging holes. However the pace of play was very slow, although it was a holiday and raining lightly most of the morning. Greens were full, save for a few rough spots. Fun time.
greens are getting good
Play right after a rainshower this past Sunday around 330 pm.. Besides it being wet. The greens
were still good and fast. They were hyrdated and not dry. Course is starting to get in shape.
Course in good condition
This course was in very good condition. The greens were excellent, it would be hard to find a course in this condition for the same price.
First Time Ditto
Lush course, cooled water drinking fountains on many holes - have never seen this anywhere! Greens should be better in a week.
Great !
This was a great course that is protected by bunks on most greens. Really open and some tricky putts. Would enjoy this course a few more times.
dry greens
Mixed greens. The fairways are much better than the greens. Some greens have very little grass at all. You would think since they used reclaimed water they would have plenty of that to go round.
Rock hard fairways and Very Poor greens
I suppose the drought has hurt this course. The fairways are rock hard and the greens have only 50% or less grass and are very bumpy and slow - I used the two putt rule as there was no way to really putt on them without ruining my stroke. The course design though is pretty decent and could be interesttng with better conditions. Let's pray for rain and some fertilizer.
Greens
Greens are in terrible condition. Every green was extremely bumpy with dead spots and full of sand. I have played here allot and this is the worst I have ever seen them. I will not be back until they are better. I almost asked for my money back.
An Overlooked Value
Possibly overlooked, this course has a lot to offer the average player. In general the layout has a lot of forgiveness for the slice and the topped ball, and it is, a "great" value dollar-wise. It is a nice clean course to play with an interesting natural environment and some opportunities to challenge the better player. Makes it a good course for seniors, for father/son match ups, or for any other group with mixed abilities.
It does not have the upscale feel of some of the more expensive courses (modest pro shop, no beverage carts on the course), and the fairways favor clean straight shots rather than good fade and loft control, but there is a pleasant view and good scenic variation on every hole.
A few of the greens were in "poor" condition being heavily sanded, but this may change as we get farther into the spring season. Pace of play on weekends may be a bit too slow for the advanced golfer, and it's hard to benefit from "playing through" if you are already back to back. However, everyone we met was courteous and friendly, keeping a reasonable pace of play and making it an overall pleasant experience.
We will definitely play this course again.
However,
Greens are horrendous
Don't play here. Greens are only dirt and sand, with a sprinkling of weeds. Bunkers are better than they used to be. Too many hard pan washed out areas on the edge of fairways, no forgiveness. I can't see the greens getting much better for at least a few months.
Masters Weekend Golf
Got a team tee time the same morning - that is somewhat unusual for Ditto. Bit windy this day, but this is N. Texas/ Course condition was pretty good overall (fairways); the greens seemed hard pressed from bad weather. Need to get the grass up on the greens. Still the greens putted somewhat true. Anyway, I like Ditto, not too difficult, keep it in the fairway and you're OK. Like all of you, when the Masters is on, you just wanna get out and play!!!
Not playing ditto again
The greens and the fairways were horrible, I will not play there again.
Cheap Course Cheap Experience
The foursome in front of me all wearing tall tees and baggy pants set the tone for a below average experience on a beautiful Dallas afternoon.
The course isn't anything special and is in pretty dull condition. There were groups hoping all over the course with no regard to the pace of play.
If you can get a deal around $20 and this course isn't out of your way then go ahead just realize you'll get what you pay for. If not don't even bother.
Could be better....
I've played Ditto several times previously, and each time I always come away thinking how much better/nicer this course could be... The layout is good, but the conditions are lacking. Shots that should be in the fairway end up in the rough or waste areas because of poor slopes or rock hard "fairways". Even with the lack of rain we've had in the area, the drainage lines have created ruts that route a shot into trees or worse, a gutter area. Talk about frustrating... The only way you'd avoid these issues is to map the course prior to playing and stick to the yardages. Greens were ok on the day I played, although they were pretty grainy and slow.
I will play this course again, but only if I catch it on a special again (Golfnow.com - $25) or can't get on somewhere else.
This is a very nice corse
This corse is very challenging and don't have a lot of water and sand traps great corse
Chester Ditto
Some very challenging holes. Dormant fairways without much rough. But the trees and fairway slopes provide the challenge. Greens not in good shape.
This course was in good condition considering the winter months. Greens were very good
I enjoy playing this course during the summer when the rough make it more challenging. Good course when the trees in full blooming/growth I like how tight it plays.
