Cheap Course Cheap Experience
The foursome in front of me all wearing tall tees and baggy pants set the tone for a below average experience on a beautiful Dallas afternoon.
The course isn't anything special and is in pretty dull condition. There were groups hoping all over the course with no regard to the pace of play.
If you can get a deal around $20 and this course isn't out of your way then go ahead just realize you'll get what you pay for. If not don't even bother.
Could be better....
I've played Ditto several times previously, and each time I always come away thinking how much better/nicer this course could be... The layout is good, but the conditions are lacking. Shots that should be in the fairway end up in the rough or waste areas because of poor slopes or rock hard "fairways". Even with the lack of rain we've had in the area, the drainage lines have created ruts that route a shot into trees or worse, a gutter area. Talk about frustrating... The only way you'd avoid these issues is to map the course prior to playing and stick to the yardages. Greens were ok on the day I played, although they were pretty grainy and slow.
I will play this course again, but only if I catch it on a special again (Golfnow.com - $25) or can't get on somewhere else.
This is a very nice corse
This corse is very challenging and don't have a lot of water and sand traps great corse
Chester Ditto
Some very challenging holes. Dormant fairways without much rough. But the trees and fairway slopes provide the challenge. Greens not in good shape.
This course was in good condition considering the winter months. Greens were very good
I enjoy playing this course during the summer when the rough make it more challenging. Good course when the trees in full blooming/growth I like how tight it plays.
2nd best public course in Arlington
This is the 2nd best public course in Arlington. Of course Tierra Verde is best, though not golfer friendly
I really enjoy playing here
The crew is friendly and very helpful, even if you show up 15 minutes late for your tee time. If you show up early and they have a space for you, off you go! It's a great course for the money.
great course
Just a beautiful rolling hills course. Great shape.
Nice Coarse
The front nine was great. Played it in about 2 hours. It took 2 hours to then play the next 5 holes and we had to stop because it was so backed up. They needed a marshall controlling the pace of play.
An old stand-by
I used to live near Ditto an was astonished to see it is still as good a shape as when we played in the 1990's. The front nine is fairly open but the back is somewhat narrow so bring your best game.
We left you guy's all the eagles but we kept a few birdies and pars for ourselves!
Fun course
I play this course every time I visit my daughter in Irving, Its a fun course to play with some challinging holes.
Course in good shape.
I played on a Friday afternoon for under $20. When I arrived, there were no carts available because they had run out of battery charge. Every person that had finished the front nine was changing out their cart (for their final nine) becuse it had died on them. The club house attendant was by himself and really busy so I decided to walk the front nine. I received a cart at the turn but the battery died on me at the 15th green. I finished the round by walking the final three holes. The wide fairways on the front were in good shape. The rough was pretty easy to recover from because it was relatively short. The greens were fairly soft and held shots. The greens were large and undulating but I felt there was some inconsistency in speed from the front nine to the back nine. Other than the putting surfaces being a little slower on the back nine, they seemed to roll well and were tricky to read as the break was not always as severe as it initially appeared. The first 13 holes are forgiving and they allow you to get a rhythm. Poorly hit shots are not greatly penalized as a recovery shot is available on every hole expect 5 and 6. The closing 5 holes however, narrow signfigantly and create a pretty challenging finish. Specifically holes #14,#15, and #18 give you almost no opportunity to miss the narrow fairway without a stroke being lost. The course has some elevation changes as well and required different shot requirements throughout the round. I will go back and play, specifically if the round is under $20 because I feel the course to be a pretty good value, enjoyable layout, visually appealing, and in good condition.
This is a great place to Play!
Their are two things I want from a place that I play, and that is a friendly staff and great golf. Chester Ditto has all those things and more. Go Play. Will DeShone
Lunch Time
This course eats my lunch. Several holes on the front nine are wide open, but deep, thick woods and landing zone water hazards punish you for fairway misses. The back nine is especially tough with up and down, banked fairways that makes picking a landing zone hard because the ball can kick and roll unpredictably into water, ravines or thorny woods. Penalty strokes can really add up on this course. Perhaps this is why I have a love/hate relationship with Ditto. I love the challenge but often hate the results. Bring your best game when you play here.
Hill Country feeling
Have you ever played in the Texas hill country? Ditto will remind you of Drives down into valley and mid irons into the greens from on top of hills of up from the valley to the elevated green. The fairways are nice but get off the fairway you will have no shot at most of the greens because of tight fairways lined with trees. No cart girl present but located in the middle of Arlington, a course well worth the hot deal price of $9.99 and more. Greens roll true AND you really have to look close to get the correct break, Go play this course for an enjoyable course that after you play each hole you always think I could have done better if,,,,
Good shape
Nice course in good shape and challenging. Cart paths could use some work. Pro shop a little pricy
The course is very good, it challenges all golf shots.
This course requires tee shots in the fairway in order to shoot in the 70's.
Wildman2k
The fairways were well maintained and several greens were a little slower than others. Tree lined fairways required precise drive from tee box on multiple holes
Very Challenging
The narrow fairways proved to be very challenging. Unfortunately, he greens had been sanded and it made it very very difficult to sink a putt. The staff really did not provide helpful information about the condition of the course nor that the rate was for two golfers rather than one. Fortunately, the guy I was paired with was a good golfer. Overall the experience was good.
