About
This is a 36-hole city-owned operation that features one of Austin's best muni tracks, the Roy Kizer Golf Course, which complements the 1970s Jimmy Clay layout.
Austin's old water treatment facility was transformed by Randy Russell, who had more than 80 acres of lakes and marshland at his disposal when he laid out the 200-acre site. Russell's links-style design is flat, burdened by the wind, and loaded with bunkers. The toughest par is No. 11, which rolls 468 yards into the wind and is shamefully listed as a par 4. Take your bogey on No. 11.

Course Work
Because of course work on holes 14 and 18, the tees have been moved up, so much so that the tees for hole 18 made the length about 100 to 110 yards.
The condition of the course should be stated so that players will know when they book a tee. Additionally, the green fee should be reduced until the work is completed.
I would not recommend this course at this time.
Favorite course in Austin
For a municipal course this place just feels fantastic. I’ve played some nice clubs around town and something about kizer just keeps you coming back happily.
The links style, the reachable par 4’s and 5’s with the Sun setting in the background it’s easy to forget you’re 10 minutes from downtown Austin.
Greens and fairways are in great shape, rough and tee boxes need work.
My biggest and only real complaint is the woman at the check in desk is always in a bad mood and if you have an afternoon tee time she will pester you to play fast because she wants to go home. God forbid you return a cart after 8pm regardless of your pace of play.
Great day of golf
We have the pleasure of visiting Austin yearly. Last time this course was closed for renovation. Luckily this year we got to play this fun and scenic course. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape considering how hot and dry it's been. Greens rolled true and the traps were in good shape. Played course in 3:45 with all players in front and behind moving accordingly. The staff both inside and out were friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back
Good Value
Played as a threesome. Pace was very good on the front nine, Slow on the back nine due to very slow threesome in front of us. Never offered to let us play through. Very hot but course was in pretty good shape. Greens and tees very good, fairways a little dry. Will play again.

There’s always a breeze, course in great condition, and always a blast to play
Good condition but…
Conditions are very solid. Only issues with this facility is that there are no water jugs in 100° Texas heat. Saw a beverage cart once in a 5 hour round that we had to wait for every shot.

Good course layout and the greens are very well taken care of!
Kizer is is good shape.
Great looking / open golf course. Staff is ehhh. But overall kizer is one of my faves.
