Improving
Improvements coming. Can see the work they are trying to do after previous owner/management neglect. Staff was awesome and am looking forward to it becoming a quality course again
Complete lack of coarse maintenance
Youre either playing in hills with no view of the green, on complete mud (makes up 50% of coarse) or waterlogged grass. Greens were atrocious with patches of dirt on every one.
Terrible Pace of Play and poor conditions
This was the second time I played Newcastle. I find the layout to be varied and interesting and was excited to return. Unfortunately we were warned on the first tee that 2 fairways would be in rough shape and pace may be a bit slow. The reality was that every single fairway was completely bare with weeds growing. Even worse was the pace of play. I can't tell you how long it would have taken to play 18 holes because I walked off after the 11th just over 3.5 hours into round. The group behind us quit as well.
Course is in poor condition
It would almost seem like this course is in receivership by the condition of the fairways and greens. Very rough, dried out and full of weeds everywhere. Price was okay if you don't mind being in a dust cloud every time your club hits the ground. Always enjoyed playing this course but it looks like it will soon be in the hands of a housing developer.
Save Your Money!!!
I’ve golfed probably 20 rounds this season and this course is by far the worst that I have played !!
Fairways are horrible, greens , the worst I have ever seen, even tee box were in terrible condition!!
I will not golf here again, it was over 25 yrs since the last time I played, probably be the same amount of time when I play again!

A beautiful layout that just needs a little work to make it an amazing course.

Well I threw my back out on the 3 Rd hole couldn't continue his would I get a rain check for a later date

With perfect weather, this course is fun to play again and again because of the scenery and the challenges
Terrible conditions.
The owners are scraping every dollar they can out players and putting ZERO back in. This used to be the Hidden gem of the area, it’s sadly no more. The course is in terrible condition, the owners blame it on grubs but literally every hole is awful. The only properly maintained green is the 9th because it’s the visual one next to the clubhouse. Several fairways have large staked off areas and are near unplayable. The fairways that do have grass are not mowed, being no difference between the center of the fairway and the rough. Even worse is having to wait and play around disc golf players all over the back 9, another cheap gimmick to skim a few extra bucks instead of actually taking care of the course. It’s sad what’s come of this place because I used to love it there.
