I recommend this course

First I would like to say there are some other nice courses in the Niagara Region, but for me the reason that I really enjoy Playing at Legends Facility is the staff, with 18 Hole Usher Creeks Championship Golf Course Plus the sister 18 Hole Championship golf course Battlefield, Plus there is a Great Executive 9 hole course that you can either walk or use a power cart if you like called the Chippawa Golf Course.

In the main golf pro shop is a very stylishly set-up, and amply supplied golf equipment and apparel. Every fall there is a great sale on around 25 sets of extremely affordable and professionally put together Brand Name rental golf sets with not a lot of use on the clubs, in very good condition and the discounts of up to 50% off the retail price and more.

Also in the main club house there is a bar area, and a nice viewing area of the gold courses from the restaurant.

There is also a function part of the club house where many people have their weddings, or banquets, and I think there can be several hundred guests. But for more information on that I think you would have to talk to either Curtis who is the resident golf professional and General Manager, or Mike, and both are extremely personable, Mike is in charge of the staffing, and training, to the best of my knowledge.

There is also a separate teaching facility (Mr. Moot) on the property, along with a 360 degree driving range, full circle and the range is awesome.

But the part of the Legends facility that makes this such a wonderful golf destination is the Legends staff. I have never met a nicer group of individuals that do work together to make one solid and cohesive team. Like I have mentioned Mike trains much, if not all of the golf staff. In the pro shop there is Mark who is the senior pro shop worker, who speaks both French and English and likewise has his pro golf card, and the rest of the pro shop staff is very professional. Troy is also a loyal Legends employee for many years and spends his summers making sure the Chippawa golf course and pro shop and driving range work very well, to the best of my knowledge.

Outside at the starters area there is Corbin who leads the many starters, and rangers who do a nice job for the Legends Facility, and Corbin also has his golf pro card.

(((I initially omitted mention of the Legends Half-Way Staff Employees I have come to appreciate Leslie and Amanda and the excellent job they do as I purchase my food and refreshments. I think both of the ladies I have met in Leslie and Amanda are both easy-going and very personable. But they are both first-class people who are both excellently versed in dealing with a varied group of golfers from all walks of life who all have a similar passion and that is we all love to play golf. I appreciate being able to start my golf day being greeted by such friendly people. I apologize to Amanda and Leslie for my initial omission written to Golf Now Course Review on October 20, 2017.)))

I am sorry if I got away spending so much time introducing the readers to the Legends on the Niagara Facilities and some of their staff but I feel the staffing is what makes a golf course great.

On October 8, 2017 I was very fortunate to be matched up with a Great Young couple from Albany, New York by the names of Josh the husband and Amanda the wife. Amanda and Josh were expecting a child and Amanda did not play golf but was there to support the game of golf both Josh and I were playing.

Josh and Amanda were much laid back and easy going, and as a result I had one of my best games of golf all year.

Ushers Creek Josh mentioned several times was a beautiful course and a very picturesque golf course. Ushers creek is a demanding layout with four sets of tees as does Battlefield as well.

There are the forward red tees, the intermediate white tees, the further back Blue Tees, and the furthest back Gold Championship tees.

All of the holes have several bunkers, and some of the bunkers are quite deep and very challenging. Some holes have elevated tees, and some of the holes have elevated greens. The courses are extremely well manicured and well taken care of by a very seasoned and hard working grounds crew, and the greens are very fast and true, the greens are large and quite challenging, with several undulations and the grain does come into play. And the Legends on the Niagara Facility, has an excellent, and very experienced Head Greens Keeper.

Some of the fairways are wider than other but the fairways are fair to the average golfer and more difficult the further back in the tee area that a golfer tees their ball.

On some of the holes the ruff is thick and very deep, needing a golfer to use a shorter than needed club to get out of the ruff.

During the week the course is busier in the early part of the day, and the golf traffic eases off the later in the day a person would like to golf. I would guesstimate that during the week for 9 holes of golf the time would be around 2 to 2 ¼ hours, double that for 18 holes.

On the week-end the pace of play is a little bit slower early on in the day due to the high traffic volume.

The beverage cart person is around about twice for every 9 holes so there is ample opportunity to get refreshment.

Josh and Amanda and I very much enjoyed our time playing at Ushers Creek Golf Course on Legends on the Niagara on October 8, 2017.

I shoot on average around 95 for 18 holes of golf, and when I am finished playing at the Legends Facility I have enjoyed myself for the entire golf outing at Legends on the Niagara.

Booked knowing it was going to be cold and wet. It was both, but most of the rain held off. Much more enjoyable than it might have been. Course was in great shape, even with the aeration near the greens. It's very flat but with the mounds and water and sand, it's more than challenging. You need to be accurate to score well. Not many other golfers out, so pace was great! One fellow working in the pro shop was friendly even though they were down to their last few snacks. Well worth the time and money!

we were following a tournament and then a mixed 4 some who were very slow.....front 9 2hr. 40 min back 9 1 hr 25 min....we skipped ahead of the 4 some

We booked on golf now on a hot deal. Great value for price we paid 70 for two golfers

As you peer from the tee box, a bevy of rolling terrain and Bunkers face you. After negotiating around them, protected greens that are extremely fast is the next challenge. After great shots and a 2 put, you card a 7 on a part 4.

As you look back, the bunkers are no longer visible. Just a mild rolling mounds. And you wonder.

How did I get a 7. Welcome to battlefield.

With discounts on same day replays the 2nd tour is always better.

The leaves have just started to turn colour, but not yet fallen. The greens were in great shape & running fast. The one issue I had was the lack of grass in some areas of the fairways. Sometimes you were playing from mud. With the mild weather that we've had, what is there to complain about. It's late October & we're still golfing.

The course is fine, one of the best in the region, but the staff are useless. Bag drop guy said he would put our clubs on the cart, but walked away after taking away just one of two. Starter didn't have a record of our tee time. We showed him our online confirmation, and after an awkward discussion he told us to go to the 1st tee. He drove up to the tee 10 minutes later to tell us we hadn't checked in. He told us a visit to the pro shop was required. The pro shop said that since we had a valid confirmation we could play, but would have to pay them in addition to the Hot Deal payment we made to Golf Now. After an argument, they backed off on the "double" payment, and directed us to go back to the tee. When we got to the tee, the group in front was just walking off, so I sat down on the tee to meditate - clear my mind of anguish. The starter came back again, and drove RIGHT UP ONTO THE TEE to ask if I was meditating. I said yes, could leave me alone. He continued - he needed to tell me it was Golf Now's fault. I told him I didn't really care who's fault it was - I just needed a quiet moment - would he please leave me alone. When I asked a third time, he drove away.

What a way to start a round!

p.s. Even with a Marshal it was still a 5 1/2 hour round.

Beautiful course...tough...be great to play this course without heavy winds...excellent shape!!!

We checked in at pro shop,guy said he didn’t have us down.pulled out phone and brought up golf now confirmation and showed him our tee time was at 1:27 and it was paid in full. After a lot of back and forth he gave me the receipt for the 4 of us and told us to present it to the starter.Ten minutes before our tee time I presented receipt to starter.He says were not on the sheet and stormed off towards the clubhouse .He returns and tells us are tee time is 1:58 .we finally tee off just after 2:00 .The pace of play was so slow that at one point on hole 5 there wer six carts waiting.After the ninth hole we looked over towards the tenth tee box and realized there were 8 carts on the tee ,so knowing there was no way to complete the round at this pace we looped around and replayed the front nine playing the final hole in the dark.Needless to say I won’t be going back.

Spend 2hrs driving to play this course and when we got there it was cart path only. It then took us 3hrs to play 9 holes at this point we left because the pace was not picking up and we had talked to a Marshall twice and didn't seem to help.

Was not impressed.

Even the smallest amounts of rain make this course unplayable. Well, they will still send you out but then tell you that the course is cart path only. Many times you are walking over a 100+ yards to cross from the path. The paths are not close to the playing surfaces. On top of this this course is soft naturally and if any rain has fallen within days the course gives you no roll. I played and I had to clean my ball every shot.... not dirt but chucks of mud. This course has great bones but poor drainage..... book it at your own risk.

I booked my tee time online via GolfNow, and when I got to the course I was introduced to my playing partner, and the starter suggested we start on #10, as it would be less busy. WHAT AN INCREDIBLY SMART IDEA. We played the entire afternoon as if we owned the place. There was a group 1 hole ahead, and 1 hole behind, we were never held up, nor pushed. A perfectly relaxing day playing golf. Thank you Mr. Starter.

As for the course:

+ course layout is challenging, especially if you tee off from the proper tee boxes

+ staff was incredibly professional

+ the practice facility is 2nd to none. massive chipping area, 2 different putting greens, several bunkers, huge driving range.

C O N S :

- lots of tourists play this course, and they come in all different skill levels

- clientele don't repair their own ball marks on the greens, replace/fix divots in fairway, or rake bunkers. I was raised playing the game to leave a hole better for the person behind you, than you found it.

- the parking lot is inconveniently distant from the ProShop and first tees, and starting your round is not as pleasant as it could be. a possible shuttle would be very much appreciated.

We played the entire afternoon as if we owned the place. There was a group 1 hole ahead, and 1 hole behind, we were never held up, nor pushed. A perfectly relaxing day playing golf. Thank you Mr. Starter.

As for the course:

- golfers are either too lazy or ignorant to repair their own ball marks on the greens, replace/fix divots in fairway, or rake bunkers.

- the parking lot is inconvenient from the first tees, and starting your round is not as pleasant as it could be. a possible shuttle would be very much appreciated.

I was looking forward to playing Battlefield for the first time. I had played Uushers Creek and thoroughly enjoyed it. The unfortunate issues were the pace of play, no marshals anywhere on the course to talk to and to monitor pace of play. It took us 5 hours and 17 minutes to play, as well the threesome ahead of us somehow turned into a fivesome on the 10th hole. No one was around for us to tell. The greens were left a little long and were slow compared to other courses I played in the area of compareable quality, like Twenty valley. There was a wedding on and they were shooting cannons out over the water that run along the 9th and 18th holes, scaring you when you are trying to hit the ball. This was being done while golfers were playing. As well they were setting up fireworks in the 18th bunker which you could go over normally to hit the 18th green, but now had to hit the ball to the fairway so you did not hit any people. Under normal and regulated circumstances I believe this round would have been more fun, but unfortunately these related issues did not make for a fun day.

Course is in very good condition but pace of play on the back nine was quite slow.

The course is acceptable but no more. Very few amenities. Grounds need work. Pace of play was slow.
