Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Battlefield

Even the smallest amounts of rain make this course unplayable. Well, they will still send you out but then tell you that the course is cart path only. Many times you are walking over a 100+ yards to cross from the path. The paths are not close to the playing surfaces. On top of this this course is soft naturally and if any rain has fallen within days the course gives you no roll. I played and I had to clean my ball every shot.... not dirt but chucks of mud. This course has great bones but poor drainage..... book it at your own risk.

I booked my tee time online via GolfNow, and when I got to the course I was introduced to my playing partner, and the starter suggested we start on #10, as it would be less busy. WHAT AN INCREDIBLY SMART IDEA. We played the entire afternoon as if we owned the place. There was a group 1 hole ahead, and 1 hole behind, we were never held up, nor pushed. A perfectly relaxing day playing golf. Thank you Mr. Starter.

As for the course:

P R O S :

+ fairways, greens and bunkers are free from weeds and are healthy

+ course layout is challenging, especially if you tee off from the proper tee boxes

+ staff was incredibly professional

+ the practice facility is 2nd to none. massive chipping area, 2 different putting greens, several bunkers, huge driving range.

C O N S :

- lots of tourists play this course, and they come in all different skill levels

- clientele don't repair their own ball marks on the greens, replace/fix divots in fairway, or rake bunkers. I was raised playing the game to leave a hole better for the person behind you, than you found it.

- the parking lot is inconveniently distant from the ProShop and first tees, and starting your round is not as pleasant as it could be. a possible shuttle would be very much appreciated.

As for the course:

- golfers are either too lazy or ignorant to repair their own ball marks on the greens, replace/fix divots in fairway, or rake bunkers.

I was looking forward to playing Battlefield for the first time. I had played Uushers Creek and thoroughly enjoyed it. The unfortunate issues were the pace of play, no marshals anywhere on the course to talk to and to monitor pace of play. It took us 5 hours and 17 minutes to play, as well the threesome ahead of us somehow turned into a fivesome on the 10th hole. No one was around for us to tell. The greens were left a little long and were slow compared to other courses I played in the area of compareable quality, like Twenty valley. There was a wedding on and they were shooting cannons out over the water that run along the 9th and 18th holes, scaring you when you are trying to hit the ball. This was being done while golfers were playing. As well they were setting up fireworks in the 18th bunker which you could go over normally to hit the 18th green, but now had to hit the ball to the fairway so you did not hit any people. Under normal and regulated circumstances I believe this round would have been more fun, but unfortunately these related issues did not make for a fun day.

Course is in very good condition but pace of play on the back nine was quite slow.

The course is acceptable but no more. Very few amenities. Grounds need work. Pace of play was slow.

We enjoyed our round and pace of play was very good. The only issue is that the yardage markers are very limited. There is a 150-yard stick, disks for 100 and 200 yards, and very few sprinkler heads vlsible. This added to the challenge needlessly.

A tad slow tonight . Perfect weather so everyone trying to get in a round made the course fully booked. Usually we fly around here at twilight but it was 2 hr. for first 9, then we replayed the first 9 in about 1 and a half hr, in order to get in before dark.

No ones fault, course was moving, just days are getting short.

The course was in great shape - the greens were perfect.

Best shape the course has been in years - will be returning.

Conditions on the tee box, fairway , traps and greens were ideal to near perfect. We got hit with a 20 minute passing shower that stopped all play. Standing water in the traps and isolated spots on the fairway is normal after this heavy shower.

I enjoyed the layout. For the most part, I would say it was very forgiving off the Tee-box. I am a 15 HCP and I shot in 80. The rain delay at the turn lean to 4 bogies in a row but I recovered thereafter . Not much in "Risk-Reward" shots with this lay-out. Playing safe was just as promising.

Pace of play before the rain was playing at a 3 1/4 hour round for our group of 4. Course was fairly full. Back-nine was about 30 mins longer on account of the passing rain, once we got started. I will go back and play again. Range balls are included. You practice and hit off grass at the range.

Everything in great condition wide perfect fairways rolling greens no bare spots any where very enjoyable day

Golf and staff was great but expect Air Canada Center pricing on the beers. $10 for a tall can!!! Ouch - that hurt a bit. All in all a good day but bring your wallet if you're buying beers on the course...

This track has almost everything going for it. Great design, wonderful and friendly personnel good weather.

However, this course like its sister track are inundated by Canada Geese. These birds dig up the greens, and the excrement is everywhere. It covers greens, traps and gets pick d up on your equipment.

Too bad.

Get rid of the geese and the course becomes a 10

Excellent day, the weather opened up nice for us had bits of sunshine throughout the round.

tee'd off at 330 pm in September so it just started getting a little darker on 18. Perfect round weather and condition wise. Would defnitely recommend again
