Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Battlefield

The first thing you will probably say when playing this course is, "wow, it is really beautiful out here." The second thing you you probably say is, "I can't believe this is a municipal course." The Niagara Parks system boasts 3 top-notch courses (the other two are Ussher's Creek and Whirlpool) and they are all amazingly maintained and beautifully designed.
This course is challenging but fair and it rewards good shots and punishes bad ones. The greens and fairways are fairly large but they undulate quite a bit so be sure to pay attention to the pin placements and the shot type that you would like to hit into the greens. My playing partner is a 3 handicap and he played from the 7300 yard tips and I played from the whites (I am a 14) at 6300 yards and we both had a great time. We got around the course in 3:45 as well!
I belong to a great private club in WNY (Tan Tara) and when the club is closed or I am just looking for a different place to play, I often choose one of the courses at Legends on the Niagara. The value is great and the staff is awesome as well. If you are considering playing here, please do. You will be sure to enjoy the experience.

Greens - fast yet receptive, great shape and challenging with some of them undulating.

Fairways - great shape and properly maintained with divots repaired regularly.

Clubhouse - very nice, classy with great views. Food was a little pricey but hey this in Niagara Falls. It was very good so you get what you pay for.

Sand - soft and tricky placement.

Design - GREAT! not often you see players on other holes. This is important to me.

Beautiful course with many bunkers especially around the greens making accurate approach shots a must. Lots of fescew that will swallow up errant out of bounds shots as it should. Greens were true a bit on the fast side as the day became warmer. Most of the fairways are generous but some bunkers at the mid ranges along them to keep you honest. Also a good amount of water hazards to avoid. Some greens have very little ground behind them and drop nearly straight off into water so ovrhitting those greens costs you. Nice course to look at made for an enjoyable day. This course has challenges for all but perhaps the best of golfers. Also it's only about a ten minute drive from niagara falls. I give the difficulty a 4/5 enjoy playing it.

iT'S very frustrating when pace of play is the problem. There are no marshalls. Finally BOTH groups in front of us let us play through. At first play, it took 48 minutes to play 3 holes !!!!! It's a wonderful course and just wish there was better course management.

A very good course. However, many of the par 4's have water just short of the green so, unless you are a strong player, you are forced to lay up.

We played Ussher Creek as a twosome. The staff were friendly and helpful. Club house is big and attractive that can hold big events. However, the course condition is fairly bad in particular the green was in poor condition. Course set up is fairly challenger for beginners. In summary, a disappointment when compare to the condition we played the Battlefield course last year.

The course is in great shape, but the greens are a little bumpy, making putts tricky.. Staff was organized and friendly, finished the round in 4 hrs, great day

After playing today, I now strongly consider Ussher's Creek a true reputable championship course reserved for less than a handful of names to the area.

I was very delighted to discover that the conditions were favorable for scoring. The fairways were mildly firm for extra distance but yielding enough for flushed iron striking and the greens were medium paced for makeable putts. Both fairway and greenside bunkers are very playable and consistent.

I do have high standards so the only blemishes I can point out are remnants of aeration were visually evident but did not affect my putting and the rough at times can be unfairly thick for recovery opportunities.

Lastly, I was very pleased to see that ball marks were repaired unlike past years so this small attention to detail deserves a passing grade in my discerning books.

Nice to play. Recommended. Terrific coarse. Fairways in great shape. Great greens.

This course is in excellent condition. the fairways are soft and the grass condition is pristine. The greens are just the right speed and again the grass is pristine. The sand traps were manicured perfectly. I was in three traps during the round and came out well from the soft sand.

Well worth the drive to Niagara and we were lucky enough to play his beautiful course on a gorgeous day, with a great price. Have not played Battlefield in a few years but it has matured very nicely and is in impeccable shape as per usual for the Niagara Parks!
One hint, the bunkers, and there's lots of them, are a little different sand but very consistent throughout the course. Greens rolled very nicely!

Nice course design. Challenging yet will reward aggressive players. Course is in nice shape. I would definitely recommend the course to my friends

I've played Legends on the Niagara several times and the course conditioning is always excellent. Very enjoyable. If you're a first timer you'll appreciate the course conditions and pace of play.

Beautiful golf course. Usually I play lesser pricier golf courses but I took a gamble with Legends Usshers Creek. The wide fairways and the massive greens added a whole new dynamic to my golf game. I'm more familiar with smaller courses like Oaklands and Rolling Meadows but Usshers creek took me by surprise. It was a nice course and I can't wait to come back and try Battlefield.

Being a public player I found that the rough was way too long. Once you were in all you could do was chop it out.
A few times we had a hard time finding our balls a few feet off the fairway because they sunk to the bottom of the rough.

With aerated greens and over-the-top long rough the course played extremely tough.

Play there all the time right now course including greens have been aerated so course quality very poor

It's always a bonus to get a Golf Now Hot Deal at Battlefield (which explains the excellent value for money rating)! Legends always seems to keep its courses in excellent condition. Water comes into play on a number of holes but there is always a bailout i.e. you get to choose how much to bite off; notably, #9 and #18 are excellent finishing holes, over water and towards the clubhouse. Happy to make the drive from Toronto.
