Port Colborne Country Club

About
Port Colborne Golf & Country Club sits just minutes from the banks of Lake Erie. Founded in 1929, it originally opened as a nine-hole course and expanded to a full-length course in 1964. The golf course has matured beautifully over the years with help of major renovations to the design, irrigation, and drainage systems. The layout has rolling fairways that are lined with trees. It is still highly walkable though, since the undulations in the landscape are gentle, which is not to say it does not have its challenges. There are five water hazards and 13 strategically placed sand traps as well as smaller greens that demand accuracy. Port Colborne's practice facilities include a driving range and a putting green with a practice bunker.

Pro Shop does not except Golf Now Confirmed Tee times
To All Concerned:
Again booking on line is ridiculous!
I couldn’t play today as I was told by Alex there is no 7AM tee time and all members know the start is 7:30.
Well I don’t know that! It was on the web site with confirmation e-mails sent to confirm tee time. (Below is confirmation E-Mail)
Also because of a shot gun there was no way on going on to play.
I also said to Alex I made a mistake joining this club and have never seen a club operated like this, from dirty golf carts to poor service PORT has it all covered.
I was also told by Alex and someone on the board if I didn’t like it to get in the games you can and join somewhere else!
Thanks a lot! This is the answer I was NOT wanting to hear.
I will Not support the club house with any food sales and will play as much as I can but will not be returning for the 2017 season. I will go on line and Facebook my upsetting experience @ Port Golf and Country Club.

Manicured course
This course is in great shape from tee to green. Sand traps were good with nice heavier sand. Greens were firm, but we have not had any rain in a month. Very flat so would be good for walking. Lots of different layout holes to keep it interesting. We had two foursomes in front of us and still finished in 3.5 hours. We would go back in a heartbeat.
Great Shape
Although extremely flat, Pt. Colburne Golf Course is most worth playing.
Most holes are tree-lined with the rough trimmed an appropriate length. The fairways were in immaculate condition and most of the greens, many of which were extremely contured, were in very good shape. I played with three others who like me were new to the course and everyone in our foresome was most complimentary of the layout.
The course's main feature are numerous dogleg par 4's and 5's. Because each tee box had a map of the hole it was easy to plan your approach to the hole before hitting your drive. The long par 5 16th which is an extreme dogleg with the most undulating green on the course is my favourite hole.
Each hole has 4 sets of tees with the forward reds making the course most playable for casual and short hitting players.
I will return.
great value
The course is in great shape. The greens are super smooth and fast.
Very nice course.
Staff was incredible. Course was great, fairways & greens awesome. Rough will punish as it should
PC clib
Well they didn't have enough carts to get me out my tee time. Had to wait a 20 minutes.
Also halfway house had no food only snacks and was closed by the time I finished the front nine. Which was 3:30!!
great value
we had a perfect day weather wise and the course was in great condition. Many of the greens had substantial breaks in the putts and were quite fast. The fairways were fairly wide and pristine in condition but if you strayed to far to the left or right your next shot usually had some sort of tree trouble. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Hope to be able to go back a few times this year
Awesome greens
The greens here were awesome the day I played. Not only were they incredibly smooth, but also quite fast, and very consistent. I can't remember if I have ever played on greens as good as these in Canada, and I have been at it a while!
Very Friendly people
Beautiful day with excellent weather.
Finish 18 holes in 3. hours.
Great course, will come back again.
Members Course
There is a stigma that looms over this course and it has to do with it's tradition of being a members only course. Even though this is a public course, you can feel the current members recognizing who part of the club and who is visiting. But don't let that distract you from the fact that this is a fun course to play and if you live in the area looking for a quiet, relaxed place to play a round of golf - you can't go wrong here.
Pros:
> spring rate was $20 to walk = STEAL
> the course is very forgiving. not many water hazards, the fairways are easy to hit for the avg golfer and if you are in the rough, the grass length isn't too punishing
> it's located on the border of PTC and Wainfleet, and it's so quiet and tranquil out here. you can really lose yourself in the outdoors here
> my personal opinion, for some reason I love tree lined courses (rather than a links-style) and this is a typical example of that. Every fairway has trees running up and down both sides, but they are spread out enough that you can find your ball, make a full swing and punch out back onto the FW.
> everything you see on the course appears to be donated by ex-members. benches, trees, ball washers, etc... demonstrated a strong "family" bond out here
> the condition of the entire property grounds is great. not a lot of dandelions, etc..., fairways in good condition, not many greens with damage.
Cons:
> a cloud that hangs over the place while you're playing. the members recognize who are guests & you can feel it.
> the practice facilities are poor. I didn't realize there was a driving range until I played the back 9 and noticed it. the pro shop didn't advise of it.
> the putting green is situated into the side of a hill. you can't find a 6' piece of the practice green that is flat, you're either up, down or sidehill on every square foot of this thing.
> some of the fairways have irrigation problems, and the irrigation system (tubes, plumbing, etc.) is exposed. it's a visual thing, since you'd get a free drop.
> from the outside, the proshop and 19th hole look like they've been there since day 1 and may have just been converted from barns or farmer living quarters, and look as if they in dire need of a makeover.
Still Awsome
It's been a while since I played here but a really good course. I would recommend this course to anybody. For being early in the season the course was in great shape and they have the best staff around

Great Course Conditions
Course was exceptional for this time of year. Always a treat to go there and play a course that is run by people that know golf and it shows.
This is our 2nd time and we really enjoyed it...will play again
We know we can do better so we must return....thank you
nice and green
coarse was in excellent shape. no hardpan and greens were true and quick. the only thing bad was when we arrived 9 45 tee time nothing was open and couldnt even get a bottle of water. other than that all was great.
Very Nice Course
Very nice layout, fast greens. Well maintained, some very challenging "layup" holes. Pleasant staff.
