Oak Bay Golf Course
About
Carved from the scenic woodlands along the eastern shores of Georgian Bay, Oak Bay Golf & Country Club incorporates rocky outcroppings and natural water features into its challenging championship design. The eastern coast of the bay is one of the largest freshwater archipelagos in the world and is home to diverse flora and hundreds of varieties of birds and fish. Both the fairways and greens are sloped and well manicured. In addition to the many natural challenges, which include trees and ponds, there are numerous strategically placed traps to watch out for. Oak Bay is located less than two hours north of Toronto but its beautiful setting makes it feel much further.

Hole 15, Par 3, If you make it over, green is two tiered! Photo submitted by taz4golf on 10/04/2013
Extremely good condition w/ beauty rock and water features
Oak Bay is beautiful tree lined course with water and Canadian shield rock features. The course is extremely well maintained with quick greens. The feature hole (15) and the entire back nine is the highlight of the course. The club house is not finished yet and none of the tee decks have distance plates to mark the yardages. This is annoying on par 3's and is silly not to have them on a course of this caliber. In spite of the missing plates on the tee decks, if your in the area this course is a must play.
Very nice course, greens and fairways in excellent condition, the course has stunning views of the the Canadian shield
Nice course , very well maintained , excellent lay out .the club house isnt finished yet ! And your starting on 8 th hole , the holes are out of order but over all great course ! I will be playing again .
Worth the stop
Course was in great shape. Pace of play was excellent. Friendly staff. Good value. Would definitely play again if in the area. Only downside -- with the temporary clubhouse starting position there's no practice green.
Once is not enough
tough but fair, beautiful greens, have not seen greens in this good of shape anywhere this yr. way under priced the signature hole is unbelievable.
Fairways and Greens
You need to hit the fairways. Not much rough. Greens are fast. Concentration needed on every shot. Tough par 3s - all 170 to 200 yards and carry - trouble between tee and greens. Par 5s very fair - at least 3 eagle chances.
A driving range and putting green would be nice.
This course is very well groomed
I would definitely play there again, very challenging and beautiful course
Excellent course
Great course in great condition. Loved the tight but fair holes. A must play
Top Notch Condition
Course was immaculate, greens were perfect, fairways top notch. Course is tight and if you do miss the fairway your ball is probably gone. Clubhouse is not complete, been sitting there %60 complete for 2 yrs, must be experiencing financial problems but you sure wouldn't know it by the condition of the course. Our round was slow due to an ignorant 2some of guys in front of us, they backed up the entire course, guess that could happen anywhere. This would have to be one of the best courses in the province for the money, value is outstanding.
Great Day!
Had a great time at Oak Bay GCC! Course was in amazing condition, however, the pace of play left a little to be desired.
Oak Bay review
Great course! Landscape was very nice. I will definitely come back and play this course. Some of the holes are very awesome to play, almost like holes that you'd see being played on tv. My tip of advice is that the greens play VERY fast.
My only fuss really was that I showed up and hour early to putt and chip and there was no practice green yet because the clubhouse wasn't built. They have 2 practice nets to hit into but I didn't feel like scrubbing the green mat off the bottom of my club.
Also, because of the clubhouse not being built yet, you start on 8 on the front and 11 on the back. Doesn't bother me really but other golfers it could. I will be back to play again though
Great value
A wonderful layout with everything a thinking golfer wants. Sand hazards strategically placed, fast greens with subtle breaks, enough water and environmental areas to avoid and trees and punishing thick rough for the bad swings.
Great course!!!
Course was in great condition. Tough par3's.
Fastest greens I've played this season.
Love the course.
BE AWARE
Very unforgiving off the tee
If you spray the ball bring lots of balls
Very tough golf course
The premium when playing this course is hitting the fairway . A missed fairway normally results in your ball being in the forest or hazard. Minimal rough, it is either fairway or hazard.
Bring lots of golf balls, leave your ego at home, play the blocks/tees that allows you to enjoy the game.
The Club House is a trailer however they have a extremely friendly staff.
worth it
All the review can,t say enough about Oak Bay.
when the clubhouse is done even better
Off to a rough start since you don,t start at the first hole.
Problem is with all thses great reviews is now finding a tee time.
You should see hole #15 in a few golf magazines this year.
Very Enjoyable Course
Oak Bay is a very nice track. They still have not finished their clubhouse so food and beverage is limited.
They participate with Golf Now and Underpar. Two of us played for $70.00 with cart. Great value. Thought we'd get eaten alive between mosquitos and Black flies.
Not a one. Incredible!
A Hidden Gem
Oak Bay was one of the nicest, well designed and well conditioned courses that I have ever played. Each hole has its own distinct feature and the ones that are carved out of the trees are amazing! The 15th par three is breathtaking. Who needs the 17th at Sawgrass! Although the clubhouse is incomplete and the routing of the holes is based on the location of the temporary "clubhouse, the course has a nice flow to it. It is definitely set up as a cart course. Overall, Oak Bay is a phenomenal experience.
By far a MUST PLAY
Without a doubt I would recommend this course...it was in great shape.....we thought the Rock was in good shape this one was better. WOW courses both of them. Lots of challenge on every hole. My advice make sure you play from the correct tee blocks or you will struggle scoring well on this course. Hole # 15 one of the best PAR 3 holes I have played. The entire course was scenic although there are some housing didn't ever come into play or view that made for a poor view. Definitely worth the drive from anywhere!! There club house is in the middle of being built it will be magnificent but for now the trailer works just fine!!
Great Conditioning
This course was a in great shape! Pace of play was fast! Some pretty tight tee shots -- hit em straight! The greens rolled true and quick. I would go back in a heartbeat. It will be nice when the new clubhouse opens up. The pro shop kid looked like he just rolled out of bed and forgot to tell us that the first hole is actually the 8th hole temporarily. Otherwise an excellent course and i'd go back in a heartbeat!
Oak Bay Golf Course - Georgian Bay/Muskoka
This is a beautiful golf course in terrific shape, particularly for this time of year. Staff was very helpful and the granite on many holes and views of parts of Georgian Bay are worth the ride around the course by themselves.
For my wife and I (seniors) this course was certainly playable for us and we will definitely go back but it was very challenging. It is definitely not for beginners or even experienced players who no longer can hit 150 yards consistently. We had thought about taking two weekend guests back with us the next day but one of them would cannot hit long enough off the tee to get to a fairway on several holes, even from the forward tees. Several holes require a drive over marshlands to a landing area and a few then require a second shot over marshland or water to the green. We played an easier nine elsewhere.
New clubhouse build in progress requiring an alteration of the order in which holes are played but not a problem. Well-marked. Walking this course would be a huge challenge for most seniors and unfit younger people.
It is a gorgeous course. We will be back.
