Oak Bay Golf Course
About
Carved from the scenic woodlands along the eastern shores of Georgian Bay, Oak Bay Golf & Country Club incorporates rocky outcroppings and natural water features into its challenging championship design. The eastern coast of the bay is one of the largest freshwater archipelagos in the world and is home to diverse flora and hundreds of varieties of birds and fish. Both the fairways and greens are sloped and well manicured. In addition to the many natural challenges, which include trees and ponds, there are numerous strategically placed traps to watch out for. Oak Bay is located less than two hours north of Toronto but its beautiful setting makes it feel much further.

This course is in fantastic shape
A great day enjoyed by our foursome on a wonderful course, we felt like we were treated like club members from when we pulled in till we pulled out. We will definitely be back.
Exceptional landscape challenges !
I have played this course a few times over the years and have enjoyed the quality course conditions and the scenic unique challenges it presents. This is no cake walk, be prepared to hit it straight and conservative or feel the wrath. If you stray, forget about it and drop another because its history. If you choose to lay up be prepared for long second carries over hazards that will eat you up. Don't sweat errant shots just keep going and enjoy this beautifully manicured course and a great golf experience!
Great course great price
This course is a very well conditioned and maintained course. Great value for the price. Pretty difficult course but not very long. Greens a little slower but in great condition
Well maintained
If you get a hot deal on golf now for this course grab it..... This course if it were in the city would cost you over a 100 bucks around. Good sand , fairways are good ,and the greens can be tough at times. All in all enjoy every time I play it
Beautiful fall course. Very challenging.
The course was maculate and the conditions were perfect. Hats off to the grounds crew. The greens had been just recently airated but played fast and fair.
This is such a challenging course that requires a lot of respect. Do your self a favor and tee it forward. You'll still find yourself having to hit precise layup shots.
The scenery is breathtaking. Allow your self some time to stop and take it in a little.
Great place to go
Course was in great conditions, greens had just been aerated....hard to putt.
temporary "pro shop", new one under constructions, looks fantastic.
great vistas
will be back
Great course up north!
Wow what a beautiful course, especially for a course up in cottage country. Course was in great shape. Greens were aerated a couple weeks ago but seem to be recovering well. Amazing scenic holes especially the signature par three. Bring lots of balls or hit the tight fairways! Will definitely be back, and will hopefully play better next time. Highly recommended.
LOVED THIS LAYOUT ONLY MISSED 2 FAIRWAYS
THEY AREATED THE GREENS ON SUNDAY WE PLAYED THURSDAY NO NOTICE WAS GIVEN BY PRO SHOP OR GOLF NOW WE DISCOVERED CONDITION AFTER ARRIVING AT 1ST GREEN WHICH WAS THE 8TH WE REALIZE THIS HAS TO BE DONE BUT ON OTHER OCCASIONS WE WERE PRE NOTIFYED. WE WOULD HAVE WAITED ANOTHER 10 DAYS TO PLAY UPON REACHING THE GREENS IT WAS JUST NO FUN OR SKILL LEVEL HANDICAPS FROM 7 TO 12 SHOT 89 TO 93 UGH SCC
Twice a Charm
Great golf experience,,, saw a freaking moose (2-year old-ish male) on 2014/09/05 playing w/Andrew, Will, and Jim...hello! He walked across the 5th fairway, left to right, 40-ish yards away between us and the green...then disappeared in cedar bush. Played in the rain on 2014/09/05 and still loved it.. hello Ted and Jack! Thanks for the fancy plastic tees!
Naturally beautiful and challenging landscapes...lots of environmentally sensitive/stay out of "hazards"...thus the "bring many golf balls" requirement. Sections of property under construction...club house is going to be 10,000 sq. ft. of first class!...temporary club house and "hole play order" in effect. No range nor putting green yet...hitting cage available. Temporary kitchen is limited, a little pricey (thus the "fair" rating) but above average quality...great ham & real cheese sandwich and BBQ-ed hot dog!
Highway #69 robbery for < $38 thru GolfNow. I'll be back!
Great course..challenging
Challenging course with a lot of risk reward opportunities. Definite shot maker course. Give it a try and you'll come back for more. This course almost always wins with it's difficulty but very picturesque.
Excellent Experience
Easily the most beautiful and most difficult course I've played. There were wild turkeys and a moose passed by on one of the holes which was tres cool.
The course is definitely a players course. The fairways are superb but narrow and the rough is super lush, You stray off the fairway and you will pretty much always be faced with a difficult shot. Greens are undulated and fast. Speed of greens are very consistent.
There isn't a driving range or putting green which is really needed since accuracy is at a premium on this course.
Staff were terrific and I plan on coming back many times.
Excellent Conditions
The course was in great shape. There are some challenging holes and requires some thought when placing the ball. The holes are well thought out and provide a great gold experience. Definitely one of the best course in the area.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Look forward to the permanent clubhouse.
Great conditions
Played Oak Bay on a fairly windy day so it made placing tee shots a little tougher. Course conditions were excellent. I am a 3 handicap and found the course challenging. Keep the ball in the fairway and you can score. A few of the holes are very tight and require 3 or 4 iron for tee shot. Overall would recommend. Definitely well above average.
Oak Bay Review
One of the most challenging and best conditioned courses in the area. Several tee decks appear, unused, behind the back tees, indicating some future plans to market the course as a high level tour location. However, the clubhouse and proshop have been in "temporary" state for several years. A little surprising and the antithesis to the golf course - some financing troubles seem obvious but they do not impact course conditioning. The only negatives to this course:
For novice players (and beyond): the frustration can mount rapidly as the 15' of rough before snake filled, dense forest leads to a certain lost ball for even moderately offline shots.
For advanced players: the layout of the current setup's final 2 par 5's is poor or at least well against the grain of modern design. Driver is pulled from your hands on both tees, with the best option to be a long iron off the tee and impossible three wood to a shallow, protected green on the 15th and potentially a 7iron, 7 iron, 9 iron on the 17th (numbering of holes to change upon course completion). Nothing wrong with a 3 shot par 5 but the option is always nice and they have two within a 3 hole stretch.
The best value for a challenging course, geared more towards the "player". Having said that I've heard similar things about The Rock and I will not be playing that until September.
May the Golf Gods be with you!
When it's all done it's going to be a beauty
Except for no beverage cart or halfway house on the course and not having anything to drink on a hot day I do think that eventually it shaping up to be a great course . I loved the par3s.
Excellent course
Amazing course, very beautiful and challenging. Would love to play it again and defiantly will!
great coursw
Only negative was that there was no beverage cart or water on the course. Otherwise, this course is a great play with challenging beautifully laid out holes.
Nice course
Well conditioned, good track. Signature hole is a beauty par 3. Kind of weird playing holes in different order as clubhouse is not complete and temporary setup is not close to #1 hole. This will be a great pkace when clubhouse is done.
Going Back to Oak Bay again!
Course was in Terrific condition even though we were playing it in a day of rain early and intermittent showers during our round . We played for 45 bucks which is like stealing for a course like this. A good range of tees for golfers, but the blue tees are not for the faint of heart, leaving mostly long carries into tough greens. The 15th hole is simply breathtaking! Can't wait to do it again...but in better weather this time.
Tough Introduction
Well maintained course, but not a forgiving course at all... Meant for the advanced golfer that can control each and every shot. If you're not that type of golfer, be prepared for frustration and the loss of several balls (though if you spend time looking, you'll find plenty of lost balls as well).
How's it gong Jim! Played Oak Bay again on 2014/09/13 on my way home. Rained throughout so not the sunny, cart gal filled day we had on 2014/09/05. Who needs a dining area when you have wild turkeys and BBQ on site!
...to good holes!!!
