Pelham Hills Golf & Country Club
About
Situated just outside of Welland, Pelham Hills Golf & Country Club offers a parkland-style course that is easily accessible from Niagara Falls. With the Niagara Escarpment serving as a backdrop, the golf course has a rolling landscape covered with large ponds, wandering creeks, and towering trees. The Pelham Hills layout features elevated tees and undulating greens that are heavily guarded. In addition to numerous bunkers there is also strategically placed mounding separating the holes. The front nine has a few demanding holes that require long carries over ravines but there are also many birdie opportunities. Pelham Hills Golf & Country Club's back nine tests your drives more than your shot-making skills. The golf course is a formidable challenge but generous fairways make it more player friendly.

Best condition in Years
Greens and fairways were in the best condition in years. There were some areas under repair but did not affect play at all.
Greens a little slow but rolled fair.
Dissappointed
Was excited about twking my fiance out, totalled car on the way to the course and ended up being an hour late
Asked for 9 hole credit as darkness would prevent 18
Was told to play fast or play 4 holes
Very dissapointing that 25 dollars tainted the experience
We will.never go back
Ground under repair
Many holes had ground under repair near the pins. Quality of soil looked like it was making it difficult for the new grass to take hold. Cart paths were pretty bumpy. Greens were OK but slow.
Great course to improve your game
I've played it four or five times this year now and really like it. It's a great value for your money. A couple challenging par 5 and a super long par 4 on the front it rewards smart golf shots. There are several holes that will tease you into going "big" and if your not on point you will pay. Great hotdog at the turn another great time if I were to recommend one thing it would be that they should buy the land across the street for a nice big range with greens to shoot at so you can really warm up before playing and dial in the irons then head out.
Fun Day Out
I purchased a hot deal, I'm glad $17.50 to play this course was good value. The course has changed from last year, trees missing, sand traps on some of the holes are being converted to weed traps, fairways I think were cut to short a lot of dirt patches thru out, some of the holes were made shorter which them easier to play, tee blocks and greens were in very good shape. I think they made changes to speed up the pace of the game. I really like the layout, this course does have some interesting holes.
I wouldn't play this course for their $30 walking price during the week, but for less than a dollar a hole would play again.
Good value at discounted prices
I have played this course a few times over the past 5 years. Course conditions remain fair to good but the layout is quite interesting.
Greens are slow but fair.
Great course two long par fours
I've played this course several times and really enjoy it. It has some great features including a great ninth hole and some nice par fives definitely some holes good golfers would appreciate and the staff are excellent. Awesome hotdog in between they had moosehead bonus. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone looking for a good bang for your buck.
Very Bad Shape
Course is very different from the pictures you see.
The whole place is dry and dead. Not maintained at all so be sure to keep your footing as there are an amazing amount of potholes, bumps, etc all over the place. If you want to just get out for cheap and you don't care...forget it I wouldn't even go
Challenging Course but better signage required
I really enjoyed playing this course. Challending and in nice shape on the fairways and greens. There should be better signage for sime of the tees as this was my first time and my Garmin tracker was as confused as I was on 2 or 3 holes.
My only real negative comment is that it took too long for someone to recogniize I wanted a beverage after my round so i had to look for someone and ask!
All in all I will play there again. It was an outstanding value!
Room for Improvement
First the good....The individual in the pro shop who checked us in was very good at greeting us and informing us of the new change to hole #11. We were paired up with two others who we enjoyed their company very much.....Great start to the day!
Where they can improve....The reason for the negative feedback is with all the rain that the region has received and the good condition of other courses in the area this was by far the worst condition I have played so far this year. The course was surprisingly very dry and a lot of bare spots. It was also very hard to hold the ball on the greens due to the very dry conditions. The pace of play in the front nine was pretty good but when we reached the back nine we cought up to a fivesome. It took us over 2.5 hours to play the back. Unfortunately the course allows fivesomes and with no marshall this makes it a very long and unpleasant experience. My advice to the owners is that if money is tight at least water the greens. Having five people in a group playing at 5 plus hours usually results in people not coming back and letting others know of their experience. Would be nice to have a marshall to assist and a beverage cart to buy beverages/food during the round.
Cutting Trees
Most of the trees on the 8th hole are marked for removal. Sad!!
Under Repair
The course needs work....sand traps really just mud....do believe they are trying to work on it. Thus few players and we did have great pace.
