Need more carts!
I had to wait 10+ min after my tee time to get a cart. Pace of play was absolutely terrible. Had one group ahead that played a 3 hour 15 min front 9. Need the marshal to get out there and press them. 5 hours 30 min for 18 is ridiculous.
Great Course Overall
Course itself was fun and in good shape. Only 2 issues were pace of play and no beverage cart or coolers on carts. We were constantly waiting, it took 5 hours for 18 & didn’t see a Marshall or any type of pace of play regulating happening. There were no beverage cart to stock up on cold water while playing or coolers on the cart to keep water cold that you could by at the turn. When it’s upper 90’s and high humidity it made it tough on the course.
Warming up
It getting warmer days and the course is in great shape. Avoid the bunkers, after the recent rains a bit of a challenge. Greens are speeding up.
Staff are friendly and tend to the needs of players. Thanks for a wonderful time and can't wait to play again.
Hot day - need water
The reason I awarded only three stars for COURSE CONDITIONS is that on a day that the heat index was over 100F, the on-course drinking water was NEVER cold and it actually RAN OUT before 1:00 p.m. There was no beverage cart to be seen.
A course the quality of A&M's has no excuse.
Post rains
Course is in great shape. After the rains green are holding and soft. Staff are helpful. Check it out.
Great Layout
I sought the course out because it was originally designed by Ralph Plummer. However, the course was completely rebuilt and is a new course and this new course was a blast to play. Wonderfully layout requiring many different shot types and angles, gently rolling terrain and bib built-up, undulating greens.
I found the course conditions to be very good and I played very fast for a weekend.
Rain
Sometimes you just have to get out and play. With all the rain lately it's like playing a different course. Cart path only and trying to play as close as possible to the path. Greens are soft and true. Wear brown pants and have fun.
Good course
Playing in the maroon tee would be very challenging. With the driver 250 yards, I had over 200 yards second shot.
It was very windy.
I saw many students playing unpolitely. They just chatted in the tee-shot space no matter who was behind them. Sometimes, it was so slow.
Cart path
Beautiful day to play, conditions perfect. The Saturday rains though made for cart path only. The course is in great shape and greens true.
When it's cart path only, please.
Take a couple clubs and some sand
Remember where you left your cart, making it to the green only to have to go half way back down the fairway takes time and really looks stupid.
If the bunker is full of water the ball you fish out probably isn't yours.
If you don't understand this, well are your mother and father brother and sister? Do you enjoy spending 5 hours to play a round of golf?
Quintessential Public Course
Friendly staff of A&M students and a few older starters. Played on a Sunday and the pace was at 5.5 hours. Course is in fine enough shape where it’s been attended to, couple of very rough patches throughout. Would be hesitant to return but in reality no other options exist so likely will have to play again
Nice golf course
Course was in good shape, maybe a little tough on the edges but I understand that many courses in the area are in much worse shape.
Fairways and greens were nice. I’d play again.
Greens and bunkers finally recovered
The course is back in good shape. The only gripe is the number of tournaments on the weekends designated for junior golf. This course is really the only public course in the area that is worth the green fee so when it is not available, it’s off to Conroe or Montgomery. Granted, junior tournaments guarantee the course paid fees and helps junior development.
Windy day
This course is a link style so with the 20mph winds it played a bit more difficult than usual
Eclipse golf
What unusual lighting with the eclipse. Weird but fun. The course is in great shape and don't over read the break on the greens. Fast and a lot of roll out.
Staff are great and friendly. Bummer the hotdogs weren't ready at the turn though. A beer and some heavily salted snack treats would have been wonderful. Oh, the birdie on 18 was great, .akes you want to come back soon.
Goat track
Bumpy greens, impossible to putt. Decent fairways. Every other tee box is under repair.
