Mill Run Golf Club - Championship Wheel/Grind Course
About
Nestled among the rolling hills surrounding Uxbridge, which is just 40 minutes from downtown Toronto, Mill Run Golf Club offers 27 holes of championship golf and also an 18-hole, executive course. The championship holes are divided into three distinct nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Wheel/Grind Course is heavily forested with many elevation changes throughout. The back nine, the Grind, is Mill Run Golf Club's newest layout and it is also the shortest of the three. Although it is shorter in length, towering trees and doglegs incorporated into its layout demand accurate shot-making in order to do well.

GREAT VALUE
Course was is great condition and fairways were generous enough for slight fades and draws. Our foursome finished in 4 hours flat with a quick stop at the turn. Will go back and play again.
always great
We as a group never had a problem at Mill Run. The course is always in good shape. The Greens were hard and fast. But the Bottom line it was fun
Great bang for your buck
Great Value, great conditions. Looking forward to playing it again
Great views!
The course was challenging enough with some spectacular views and uphill greens. We'll definitely play again and again going forward.
Very enjoyable round
My friend an I booked in to play a round in the early afternoon. Weather forecast was grim but we took a chance. The sky cleared up and the course was almost empty. We had a great round. Greens are in good shape and the holes are a good mix of challenges. Watch out for the first two holes of the Wheel course...very difficult to grab par on these. Would recommend this course.
Great greens - pace of play is the high handicap ...not me
The deal was great. The greens were just amazing. Course is great for the money. Here is what burns me about this place. They always get backed up. Always. The efficiency of the cross over isn't either well planned or marshalled. I was there a while ago and we were about to leave and then jumped to a non-scheduled 9 (there are 3 of them). Now that day they had a tournament but they don't tell you this when you book. The other day we had a 6:39am tee time. When we showed up there was a 4 some in front of us and not a 2 some and I had to ask if we could go ahead (or suggest) to help pace of play (a 4-some behind us). Like really, I have to tell the starter this. Then we finished this 9 and came around to Wheel (the name of the next 9) and 2 groups on the Par 4 and another just teeing off. That's crazy. Now I get that we were a 2 - and 2 of the 3 in front of us is a 4 - but just didn't add up. In fairness, we asked the starter if he could do something and he popped us to another 9 and we flew. Some of this is just who is in front and how many - but it just feels to me there is always a problem at the turn in this place. Pace of play is a concern here on the last two occasions I've been here.
Mill Run Grinf-Gridt
Course is in fair condition, lots of I repaired pitch marks on the green, some dry hard fairways, rough are uneven some parts longer some shorter.
They seem to have more staff at the restaurant
Good practice course
Course is reasonably priced and suit intermediate players. There is no water in the course, and reasonably flat for many holes. course is in pretty good condition for the price of $65 for a round it's good value. This is not the kind of a course I would play everyday. If you are looking for a more scenic kind of setting, there are other courses to choose from.
2nd Visit, 1st Round
My first visit was a wash-out but I liked the look of the course and was determined to return. Arrived early as a single and got out right away on the Grist/Grind pairing. Conditions were fantastic and many of the holes played to my ball flight. The course has a good combination of challenging and manageable holes but the ability to hit the shot you need is key. That pretty much determines the round you will have. If you're having an off day then expect to lose balls or take the time to find them if nobody's behind you. Would love to play here again whenever Golfnow can offer up the same great deal; even the proshop guy was suprised!
course in great shape.
In great shape. Greens unexpectedly fast.
Staff very friendly.
Cart ladies need ice on their carts.
The course is reasonably challenging
The course is reasonably challenging. Wheel is more challenging than the other two with dodlegs in several holes. Grist's Par 3 holes are long at 170-180 yards. Variety is good at each hole.
NICE COURSE
COURSE IS GREAT, BUT STAFF AND RULES ARE VERY UPTIGHT.
FOR EXAMPLE NOT GIVING YOU KEYS TO YOUR CART TIL 10 MIN BEFORE YOUR TEE OFF.
ALSO CREDIT CARD SYSTEM IS ANTIQUATED.
I WILL NEVER BRING MY CREDIT CARD AROUND THAT COURSE. THEY DO NOT USE A KEY IN PIN SYSTEM, STILL SWIPING CARDS. THIS IS PRONE TO FRAUD.
good course crummy rules
got to the course 45 mins early paid for my round but was extremely disappointed when I could not get my powercart until 15 mins before tee off never encountered this hideous rule on any of the 100 s of courses Ive played
Markers
Nice course would play it again. Could use a better yardage marking system; possibly gps or more markers on the course
Millrun Championship
I love this course, not just because I got married there in 1991 - how many years is that!? Upon my arrival however this time I was greated and directed to the new proshop by the starter after they had just facilitated the Senior Rider Cup that morning. I thought to myself the surroundings didn't appear out of control and was very much organized. I also thought about the old proshop as it was our wedding chapel for a day. Even though some of my party arrived late, we were taken care of without a problem and with the Rider Cup teams ahead of us, waiting was not a problem! At no time for the entire game did we wait to play, tee'd off by 2pm and finished at 6:30. The Wheel and the Grind both require a driver you can control, except for a few holes that give lots of landing area, if your drive is off - park it. I really wanted to walk that day, but the elevations and some distances on the Grind would have been too much on a hot day, although I did meet a few walking, we agreed the Grind was living up to it's name. At 50 years old I'm looking for a flatter course to walk. The elevations need to be considered big time in club selection - 1 club or 2? makes it a great stategy play on these holes. I didn't see the beer cart until 2nd last hole and although it was too late to have another beer...cold ice tea and the great cart girl completed our game. I scored a little over my normal score - still beat 100!, however my buddy had an amazing game, so I know its possible, and i will be back again soon after I practice my chipping... Thanks Millrun for the good times.
Great well kept course
Played wheel and grind. Course was in great shape, good challenge, pace of play was good. Excellent value, will definitely be back
Cold and windy start at 7:15am
First time playing here as it's far from home. Nice course, 3 nines. Reasonable rates with Golfnow. Played The Wheel and the Grind. First two holes of The Wheel were tough in the wind and cold. All got better as it gradually warmed up.
Pleasant staff on the course and in the proshop and restaurant. Will play again.
Best Value in Ontario!
Mill Run is by far the best quality for the price. Well maintained, picturesque, fast greens, happy staff, well run, what more can you ask for? We played 18 holes in 3.5 hours! (twosome).
Good course - good value
Nice golf course. Interesting design with one 9 holes which is very open and the 2nd 9 holes is much tighter.
Good shape and good value.
what do you want the cart for if your not teeing off for 45 mins? If you need to go to the range they have range carts for all guests to take, I just use one of those ... I think its better than seeing a parking lot full of carts, or some random guy who's thinks its okay to teach his kid how to drive as he side swipes a cart in the parking lot ...
