Mill Run Golf Club - Championship Wheel/Grind Course
About
Nestled among the rolling hills surrounding Uxbridge, which is just 40 minutes from downtown Toronto, Mill Run Golf Club offers 27 holes of championship golf and also an 18-hole, executive course. The championship holes are divided into three distinct nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Wheel/Grind Course is heavily forested with many elevation changes throughout. The back nine, the Grind, is Mill Run Golf Club's newest layout and it is also the shortest of the three. Although it is shorter in length, towering trees and doglegs incorporated into its layout demand accurate shot-making in order to do well.

Wheel 7 Photo submitted by PeteSladen11 on 10/30/2016
Well designed course, and exciting to play.
Considering the weather conditions Aug. 7th, play was on time, and when the rain stopped, the day was very enjoyable. the fairways were in great condition, however the greens need much attention.
Prefer the 18 & dine after 3pm vs golfnow
Normally I play Mill Run's 18 Hole and Dinner that starts anytime after 3pm. I find this is the best deal providing you can tee off in the late afternoon. This round however, we tee'd off in the morning for $69 including cart. Price is not bad considering ti was Sunday morning but I would rather pay $65 and get nice dinner as well.
As for the course itself, it is in great shape, the pace was great and the weather was beautiful.
The one thing that got our entire foursome were the greens. Majority of the greens were consistant in terms of speed, however there were a couple of holes that were much slower and caused everyone to leave putts short.
Also, reading the greens were quite tricky, many times we were duped and had misread the green and the only way we knew was by having the furthest from the hole putt first.
Overall Mill Run is a great course with 27 holes to accomdate the crowd.
Will play again for sure.
Great Course
Was raining and it made the course more challenging.
nice track
Course is in good condition, despite the fact it has been well used. Greens are a challenge and the lay-out is interesting on many holes. Overall a great golf experience!
Slow play, with no action by staff
We played the Grind 9. Beautiful, but very long walks from green to tee on a few holes. We were behind a walking foursome, which were very slow. At the turn, we complained slightly, the foursome was rude, and the staff, who could have just let us play through, did nothing.
The course was not marshalled, that we saw. The real problem is that, given the long walks, The Grind, at least should be cart only.
We walked off the course, rather than take 2.5 to 3 hours to play the second nine. The staff knew this, but did nothing.
Beautiful golf course though!

Nice course, horrible service
A friend and I played Saturday afternoon at Mill Run. The course is a nice moderate course for the average golfer. What made the experience horrible, was on the 6th tee off box, our golf cart battery died. I called the Pro Shop and they said they would send a replacement ASAP. Half an hour later i called again since we were stuck and couldnt even tee off and still waiting for the replacement cart, the gentlemen said someone would be there shortly. Finally a new cart was sent to us approx. 40 mins after after my intial call. Considering where the tee off box was my friend and i were greatly disappointed, upset and bitten by many mosquitoes. The only thing the staff offered there was an apology! an apology after 10 mins would be fine after 40 minutes it was unacceptable!
Good Course, greens need a little work
One nine is to easy and wish I knew which 9 was the easy one when booking. Overall good track
Great course, golfers should ride the 'grind'
Great course, played many times before, decent shape this week. The course should require golfers to ride or at least use a pull cart on the 'grind' course because of the elevation changes and distance between holes, as golfers carrying their bags are slowing down the pace of play.
Strongly recommend this course and will be going back.
Nice scenery on "Wheel 9"
Thought this course had some pretty nice views and holes, particularly the "Wheel course"'s set of 9.
The course itself in terms of condition I'd say was on par with or maybe slightly above a course like Granite Ridge (Milton area) which I believe is the same price point.
However; I would say that Shawneeki's course conditions are a bit better (faster greens, fairways and rough more maintained) than Mill Run's.
Great Experience
This course if beautifully maintained!. Upon read some other reviews I had to put in my 2 cents. Yes the grind is just that, a grind, but it is a challenge I enjoy. I found the tees overall in very good shape with the odd one on par 3's a little rough, but what do you expect when everyone takes chunks out of it with their irons?. Greens were great, nice roll and not to difficult to read but challenging. I am not sure why someone would complain about not having a club washer on the cart, I find that odd. Through my 18 holes I cannot knock this course. I do recommend to some previous reviewers here that if your experience at this course was bad due to no club washer on a cart, or a tee box that gets lots of play on a par 3 is your worst complaint, I would say you actually had a pretty good round. I play at least 2 times a week and have been to all types of courses and also fortunate enough to be invited to some private clubs. Mill Run is one of my favorites! I certainly recommend this course!
Don't walk this course
Although I took a cart which died on me on the 5th hole of the Grind Course. Course layout is a bit all over the place. You can tell it was a 18 hole course which they insert another 9 into it to make it 27 holes. I highly recommend taking a cart. Walking is to an option here. Especially if you are playing The Grind portion of the course. Some holes are over 500 meters apart from green to tee. Overall the greens are nice but tee boxes are in terrible shape.
Long, Slow, wait, wait, wait
5 plus hour round, no marshalling, waited on every hole, nearly every shot. Cart broke down on first hole, and in the ensuing confusion we were left without a scorecard. Had to play the whole front nine without one as there was not a marshall in site. They clearly put way too many players out without proper intervals. And they did not give us the courtesy of a response to our complaint sent to they later that same night. There are other venues where we will drop $200 plus per day as a couple when you add in food and beverage. And we drove an hour to get there.
One of the best in the area - good length
There was a mixup about start times. The club house told the starter that we were to play at 11:18 instead of our booked time of 11:45. Unfortunately we were informed of this at 11:17 and declined to T-off one minute later as we had arrived early to warm up not race out to the course. The starter was initially annoyed with us and implied that if we didn't t-off they were all booked and we may not be able to play. We produced proof that we had a 11:45 T-off time and he rechecked his starters sheet and said no problem about our 11:45 t-off time. The club house staff said nothing to us about t-ing off earlier. If they had asked we would have declined. Mill Run needs to work on their communication. The starter assumed that we had agreed to the change since the club house called him about it.
This course has 3 nines with the grind 9 being the most challenging.
Challenging course kept in very good shape, fast greens with a fair amount of contour, especially on the Grind 9. Good value.
Little confusions but nothing major.
The starter for the 3 9's is in one small shack close to only one of them. The 9 I started with was running behind by 3? groups but this was not told to me at all. Confusion reigned supreme as to which group I was paired with. Br that as it may, the course was in good condition and the greens were great for this time of year. The pace of play was very slow, but I think that was due to the mismanagement of the starting area. All in all, a good round for the money.
Pretty good course, but periferals need upgrading.
We played The grind (out 9), and The Gris (in 9). The grind is aptly named.
PROS:
As for the course! it is kept up to standards, however the peripheral facilities could use some upgrading.
The direction signage is good (from Green to next T box), which is bad on some other courses I have played at.
G.P.S. tracking on Golf carts is a plus and works well.
CONS:
There are no club washers on the carts, nor on the course fairways.
Several of the Ball Washers were almost dry, even though it rained the previous day.
Several of the T boxes were in rough shape, I felt like I was always Teeing off, while standing in a contorted shape.
Pleasant relaxed round.
Nice course without a whole lot of trouble except for a couple of undulating greens. Very pleasant experience.
Very nice course, people are GREAT, course is moderate to tough, long par 3;s, medium par 5;s
Had a very good day here,17/052013, course in fairly god shape, would be good value for the money, IF SOMEONE had pointed out the GREENS had just been AERATED, so these were horrible!!!When they grow back then it is well worth a try. Played course in under 4 hours. Mostly because the place was fairly vacant, but we still did! Will go back again but not to soon!!
Course has three nines, with varying degrees of difficulty
We used the hot deal so the value we got for the game was very good. Without the hot deal, we would have passed as the price is now high in relation to other similar courses in the area, plus the course is a fair travel from Toronto (approx. 45 minutes).
